25.01.2022 Here is a snapshot of the brand new swags with the new fly screen panels getting all shipped out right in time for Christmas. The first swag we called the "swagman" , then we called the updated version the "Jumbuck", now we need some help naming our latest swag. We would love some suggestions so that we can have them all officially labelled going into Christmas. Leave your suggestions below .
25.01.2022 !!!!!!!! URGENT !!!!!!!! At 2.30pm we where contacted by Tamara. Tamara has no vehicle and because of circumstances well out of her control she is right now at a shopping center north of Brisbane and tonight she will be rough sleeping. The horrific part of this story is that there are 3 children involved. We have been given permission to publish this picture in an attempt to find IMMEDIATE accommodation ...for her, and her 3 children aged 8,5, and 3. Tamara has tried every agency and finally came through to us. I have given her my word that she wont have to rough sleep and that we will get her support and some donations so that she at least has somewhere to sleep with her children until a frontline emergency service organisation can get to her and take over. Click this link, donate a few bucks, as we cant let this unfold like this without helping. Any donations that come through we will apply directly to her motel account so that she has accommodation and so that she can also use that credit on her account to eat dinner and breakfast with her children at the adjoining restaurant until emergency housing can assess her. If you shared this post, if you donated a few dollars we Thank-you and we will keep everyone that reached out up to-date with her story as it progress. https://www.streetswags.org/tammy See more
24.01.2022 We just want to thank all those supporters this year including our mates over at Oz Harvest. Not only have we been able to distribute our brand new "yet to be named" swags all across Australia, but this year we have also managed to hand out over 3000 meals to rough sleepers all across Brisbane. We are a tiny little charity but with your support we have been able to provide food and shelter to thousands and thousands of Australians that are doing it tough on the streets and for this we thank-you.
24.01.2022 !!!!!!!!!!!! URGENT FRA APPEAL!!!!!!!!!!! So far we have sent just over 82 SWAGS into NSW as part of our FRA "Fire Relief Appeal". We are receiving some amazing messages through as the swags are now being received by volunteer fire fighters and people that are currently displaced. Here are some of the pictures and messages that are coming through from Siggy Cole who runs a charity that looks after homeless serviceman in NSW. Here she shows photos of her home before and a...fter the fire. If you can please click the link and donate a swag so that we can help out in a small way and give comfort and shelter to those are going through such an incredibly tough time. https://www.streetswags.org/gift1

23.01.2022 !!! URGENT !!!!! Our Christmas appeal has officially began. The challenge we have set as of 9am this morning the 6th of December is to distribute 300 swags over the next 3 weeks. All we need is for you to take a minute to look at the below pictures and understand and appreciate the extraordinary pain some of our fellow Australians will have to experience this Christmas. 22.01.2022 We wanted to share this post from this amazing lady and her beautiful family from North Brisbane. Tucked away in this trailer is our Jumbuck Swags. Kate and her family are taking supplies down to Nowra and she will be instrumental in getting our Jumbuck Swags down to those who need shelter in the greater NSW Nowra area. Thanks Kate Capuana for your amazing work and the essential work your husband is doing piloting the jets over the fire effected areas to send the aerial footage back to the ground crews. We will update everyone with pictures shortly.
21.01.2022 Everyone today at some point would have said the same thing "how cold is it " . Well it was cold, but it is much colder if you are unfortunate enough to be rough sleeping tonight. If anyone is in Brisbane and wants to lend a hand we will be at the Roma street Park-lands gate entrance at 7pm to hand out swags and warm weather gear. If you cant volunteer your time then perhaps volunteer a few dollars, its is absolutely freezing all across Australia and we need to make more swags this winter than ever before. These conditions are horrific especially for women and children so join our movement and help us provide warmth, and safety to as many rough sleepers as possible ww.streetswags.org Big love from the team at Street Swags
20.01.2022 THIS IS AN URGENT REQUEST!!! Last night Street Swags received a phone call from a very distressed lady. Sadly due to family reasons she needed to leave her house with only the clothes on her back with her 2 children.... Her last resort last night was going to sleep in the car as the photos show. Those that follow and support our cause will be well aware that this isnt the first time we have used our community of supporters to quickly help a young women in desperate need. Most of our community will remember Tamara, Jessy, Marge and Juliette. These where all women who had almost given up but with everyones help, love, and support they received housing, food, household items and even funds to go towards childcare. If you are reading this then we are asking you to click the link and donate a few dollars. For this young lady who is called "TJ" this is critical. We need to supply 2 weeks accommodation for her and her children and we also need funds to help her find an apartment and to help her get her life back on track. Help us help her https://www.streetswags.org/tamara

19.01.2022 Sorry Guys it's been a while for the an update on the Support Centre for the Homeless at Burpengary. Sadly it had been postponed due to lack of support for the Location. We haven't stop helping the area.... We still work with the Youth Homeless Centre at Burpengary. But I came across a lovely couple who has took it on themselves to start a community pantry in Caboolture. This isn't just for the Homeless it's for Struggling families is well. If anyone knows the area there is alot of Homeless in the area. The pantry is located at 18 Railway Pde Caboolture. The Community can access the pantry 24/7 which makes it unbelievable a life saver for people sleeping it rough and families which can't make it to the Support Centres which is only open during working hours. They have supplied a fridge and freezer so people can access cold drinks etc which is highly needed in this heat. If you are in the area and want to know more text me on 0415486506. The whole idea on the pantry is take what you need and give what you can. This is a fantastic idea imagine if every suburb had this not many people would go hungry. My hats go off to this couple. As a result another couple has put there hand up and has started a 2nd pantry in Deception Bay. I stay in contact with both families and they work so hard, the time and effort they put in to try and cater for everyone is unbelievable I really can't put it in words. Well done Guys let's hope you have started something that will carry on across Australia.
19.01.2022 To all of our Brisbane supporters please dont forget Grilld New Market has chosen Street Swags to be one of the lucky charities in January to be in the running to win $300. Every Month Grilld New Market gives their customers a token which needs to be placed in jar in the restaurant. There is 3 jars and the charity with the most tokens at the end of the month wins $300... Street Swags are lucky enough to have a jar for January so please if you over that way duck in grab a burger and support Street Swags by putting your token in our jar. You arent just supporting Street Swags you will be getting a delicious burger. Dont forget that is 3 more people you would be helping who is sleeping it rough.

17.01.2022 Winter is almost here and this will definitely be the busiest next 2 months for the charity since it began 14 years ago. The charity is receiving just over 200 orders every week for our new Jumbuck swag from organisations, churches, rough sleepers, and outreach centers all across Australia. Thats almost 1000 people requiring our emergency bedding every single month. The only way we can continue to produce and gift more swags every winter is because we have very few overheads, ...we operate like the old school charity, so that donations end up exactly where they were intended. We have put together a short video that showcases what our charity looks like from the inside. Sometimes it can be very difficult to know how much of your donation actually ends up on the front line. So if you are thinking of supporting a community organisation or charity this winter it doesnt hurt to ask a few questions first. Feel free to also have a look through our brand new site ( all volunteer built of course) as we have uploaded a stack of information that will help you in deciding who you donate to this Winter. As you will see from our last post Brisbane City Council and the Federal Member for Brisbane are heavily supporting us this Winter as we push forward to specifically help as many women and children that require warmth and safety this Winter. www.streetswags.org

12.01.2022 Here is some pictures of our brand new Jumbuck Swags making their way down south. Thanks to Kate and her family and everyone that has generously gifted swags. It may seem like just a swag, but a warm, and comfortable place to rest is critical for those who have been directly effected by the bushfires. Another load leaves tomorrow. We need more swags shipped as housing and homelessness become the next challenge thousands of people will have to navigate. Mates-helping-mates www.streetswags.org
11.01.2022 A young man from St Josephs Nudgee college will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Pete was always a great supporter of Street swags and his families wishes to have donations instead of flowers, made to the charity will mean that even now, he still has the ability to continue to help others. This picture captures the hard work Pete was no stranger to in rolling our swags whilst he was a student at St Josephs Nudgee. This is a big thank-you to Pete, and god bless his family and his friends during this difficult time.
11.01.2022 PLEASE SHARE We had a call today from one of our support centres in Townsville. The Drop in centre in Townsville provide support for all of the community and a number of different services.... They provide a free breakfast every Morning and a gold coin donation lunch Monday to Friday. The support centre has a laundry and a shower which people sleeping rough can use and supply free washing powder and body wash. This support centre is one of the busier centres I have seen, helping over 30 guests a day. Like most charities the only funding they get is donations from their community. They are in urgent need of towels and toiletries. If you can help please drop them off at 46-48 Morehead Street South Townsville. They are open between 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. If you want to know more or can help with other supplies please call them on 4772 2339.

10.01.2022 THANK YOU THE PEOPLE OF BRISBANE WHO VOTED FOR US!!! At the start of the month Grilld New market chose Street Swags to be in the running to win $300.... Every customer of Grilld New market would get a token and the customer would put the token ofthe charity of their choice. At the end of the month the charity with the most tokens would win $300. This is an email we recieved today. You seem to be the crowd favourite! Weve counted up all the tokens for the month of January and our guests decided that they wanted Street Swags to receive the biggest donation of $300. Congratulations! We hope that the $300 can come in handy for your group and that being a part of the Local Matters program has helped you drum up some extra awareness and support in your local community. Thank you again every-one for your help and support. A massive thank you to Grilld New Market.
10.01.2022 We thought we would upload this picture that really captures the story of the charity. As you can see we rely on the beautiful work that comes Australia wide, from school children in primary all the way through to retired folk who have a passion for giving back. Our charity makes emergency bedding for those sleeping rough, and when it is cold and wet this is critical to keep people safe and healthy until they can be picked up by the major services. Our backlog of swags grows... by the day, as we just cant meet the demand. So this year we challenge you to help. We challenge your school to raise funds to distribute swags in your postcode, we challenge your business to give back to the community. We challenge you if you are reading this to donate a few hours to our charity. You will be amazed at the feeling you receive after you have helped someone stay warm, and to stay dry through the night. So click the link set up a fundraising page it takes 30 seconds, raise some funds, so that we can send those swags to those that need them in your area. No one wants to be homeless, so we challenge you not to just read this but to GET INVOLVED. Remember if you want to volunteer send us an email at [email protected] and we will call you straight back. http://www.streetswags.org/fundraise-for-streetswaqs
08.01.2022 Massive thank you to Revolution Sports North Lakes for inviting Street Swags to celebrate their 1st birthday with them. The kids had alot fun jumping, rock climbing and mastering the ninja wall. Hope all the kids enjoyed the free sausage sizzle and the goodie bag they got.... With the raffle and donations we have raise enough money for a swag, Revolution matching that and will be donating enough money for a 2nd swag. We met people who have never heard of street wags before so its good to make people aware who we are and what we do. Hopefully we will have more fund raisers like this kids having fun making people more aware of Street Swags and most important raising money to keep providing swags to people sleeping it rough.

I am receiving messages from people asking what does the centre need.... I thought I would make a list and share it with every-one. We will always be in need of any food which we can pass on to our clients. Socks, Thongs, Mosquito spray, Hats, Sun Cream and Toiletries will always help. For the centre itself plastic containers, stationery and plastic. chairs would certainly help. The positive comments and feedback we receive are greatly appreciated.
