20.01.2022 Some sweet little gifts for some sweet little (and big) people we love. Simba did the #airdryclay vases and I did the felt rose. Not bad for an afternoons work. It was the perfect way to calm the heck down and re-centre...before we de-centre during the madness of dinner-bath-and-bed. Neither of these crafting ideas are mine. I’m completely and utterly inspired by the likes of @purehomecraft who posted the instructions to this lovely felt rose of theirs, and @_dimity_ for the ...beautiful clay creations. 16.01.2022 There’s a 6yo’s birthday party right around the corner and the #craftathon is ON dunno if you can tell but I’m an all or nothing type person... so next year it may be nuthin. The party for this year is kids only and I’ve planned 2.5 hrs of (hopefully) heaven for Simba and her girlfriends. (Will I be damned?! Talk to me in one weeks time to find out this may well be a never-again scenario ). I’ve designed a #treasurehunt around the book The Whale, The Sea and the Sta...rs (it’s awesome and you should get your hands on it now from @ahandmadelifebyronbay or @indigoinspirations, especially if your local to Byron and you’re watching the whale migration currently). I dunno why, but I thought it would be a good idea to make most things by hand, avoiding buying plastic gizmos and gadgets as much as possible. I made the baskets, collected some cheap but tasteful treasures (including flower bulbs for the winter gnomes to look after!), and I found these cute ocean characters that feature in the book and will be the characters we meet in the hunt along the way (after I read the book aloud at story time). The hunt is super simple, trailed by these hand made motifs that also feature in the book. Am I crazy? Most days methinks so. It has been a hellova lot of work, not gonna lie, so I’ve decided to keep it all in a box (minus the take-home basket of treasures) afterwards for my next kiddos 6yo party in four years time methinks it’s efficiently smart , and Hopefully Leija will love the book as much as Simba (And I remember where I’ve stored it all!) 11.01.2022 Oh, and here are the little #treasurehunt paper trails I mentioned in the last post, made with the left over #wetonwet watercolour paintings. They also double for a gift-giving game. Each kiddo gets one motif when they arrive and the birthday girl picks from a basket and they take it in turns gifting and unwrapping the presents. Ahhh, how sweet. Plus my eco treasure escapade ended with some lovely treasures for the hunt which thankfully all fit into the baskets I slaved away at like I said, next year there may be... nothing
