25.01.2022 Are they trying to 'transition' us into a financial hole? Instead of making them pay their fair share to help us through this economic crisis, Labor (and the LNP) fall over themselves to hand taxpayer money over to Adani. Great for Adani. Bad for Queenslanders. Is it any wonder when they take their donations to run their election campaigns? The Greens don't, so we will fight for you.

23.01.2022 They're quick to strip money from those that can least afford it. But politicians take a pay cut? Don't you worry about that. Reckon it's time we change things. kirstenlovejoy.com.au/volunteer

21.01.2022 Major party politicians, developers, bankers and mining billionaires want you to feel hopeless and powerless. But you're not. This October we have a chance to show them what it looks like when we all work together. Be part of the movement and help us transform Queensland politics forever kirstenlovejoy.com.au/volunteer

19.01.2022 We need to ban corporate donations and cash-for-access meetings now. Labor and the LNP seem determined to hang onto the millions they receive in corporate donations. Instead of doing something to stop the cash-for-access and cosy relationships with big corporations, they dig deep, saying anything to try and discredit those that call for change - and disappointingly Grace, you've been complicit in that. ... These parties could do the right thing but they won't, not until they start losing seats. So let's help them lose this one. Want to join me? kirstenlovejoy.com.au/volunteer

19.01.2022 Well the count is done, and even though McConnel is Green’er than ever before, the seat was declared and it's clear we didn't manage to get over the line. It’s definitely disappointing. But for me, that sense is completely overshadowed by what I felt on the night of 31 October, when I stood on a chair to say thank you to all our beautiful volunteers and saw the sheer number of our crew spilling out of sight and filling up the many corners of the Pig & Whistle. That was the ...moment I knew we were coming away ‘winners’, even if we didn’t end up wining the seat. Through this election our message of hope helped everyday people to see it was possible to create a better fairer future everyone. It absolutely resonated with so many voters and volunteers. Because of that: More people than ever before voted Greens here in McConnel We have Michael Berkman - Greens MP for Maiwar and Amy MacMahon, Greens for South Brisbane fighting for all of us in Parliament, and Our campaign was utterly unmatched by anything I’ve ever seen! Having been the candidate for McConnel 3 times now and having seen swings to the Greens every single time, I’ve got a super solid benchmark for what rates as a good campaign. And ours was the best! I can tell you it wasn’t just the ‘vibe’ that made that true for McConnel. Over seven months, we not only navigated our campaign safely through COVID, we also: saw hundreds of volunteers join and support this movement visited 28,261 doors and intercoms made 18,226 electorate calls, and spoke with 11,974 people. We absolutely deserve to celebrate our positive swing and our three candidate preferred result of 30.2%. I really can’t express just how grateful and proud I am of everyone who helped out; our beautiful team, volunteers and supporters, and first-time Greens voters. My heart is so darn full because of you!! So despite not winning the seat here, we really did win in every other way.

17.01.2022 Every child should have the right to play organised sport, regardless of their parents’ ability to pay. kirstenlovejoy.com.au/sport A free season of sport will transform hundreds of thousands of children’s lives, save families thousands of dollars a year, and inject hundreds of millions of dollars into communities.

16.01.2022 It’s time Queenslanders came first. Instead of taking millions in corporate donations and lining up special meetings with Ministers for cash, they should've been listening to you. Here's how we can make that happen kirstenlovejoy.com.au/vision

15.01.2022 Labor & LNP know they're losing McConnel votes to us. With only 74 days to the election they're going to sink their massive corporate dollars into trying to claw these voters back. But you can help fight this and power our positive message - head here to fuel our reach kirstenlovejoy.com.au/letters

15.01.2022 Catfished. Gross. Tricked. Unsurprised. These are just some of the words people used to describe how they felt when they discovered the ‘postage-paid envelopes', accompanying postal vote applications sent by Labor and the LNP, wouldn’t go direct to the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ), but rather via the political parties themselves. And this year these same parties have taken it to a whole new level, setting up unbranded websites to lure people to enter their person...al data before steering them to the ECQ website. Is it legal to do this? Yes. Is it sneaky and manipulative? You be the judge. Can they use the information from this to vote on your behalf? No. Why do they do it then? They do it to harvest your data for use in their campaigns. They believe it will give them an advantage to win the seat. But once people realise what they’re up to, this misleading practice just creates further community distrust and leads to greater voter disengagement. The Greens always encourage voters to apply directly to the Electoral Commission of Queensland (ECQ), and we never collect data from postal vote applications. The ECQ has said if voters want to apply for a postal ballot to be sent to them then the best thing to do is apply online via the ECQ website or give them a call. Online at ecq.qld.gov.au By phone on 1300 881 665 35,000 people had registered for a postal vote by 5pm on day 1 of applications being opened. Postal vote applications will be open until Friday, 16 October. So what do you do with the material you’ve been sent by Labor and the LNP? If you like, you can always use their postage-paid envelopes to let them know what you think of their fishy mailouts (and websites) or their policies. The person who said they felt like they’d been ‘catfished’, told me their response to feeling deceived was to ‘literally make them pay’. They used a marker pen to write thanks but no thanks over the letters included in the mailout, before sealing up the Labor material in the LNP’s postage-paid envelope and the LNP material in Labor’s postage-paid envelope and dropping both in the post box. They said, this way the catfishers literally have to pay to clean up their own rubbish.

14.01.2022 Did you know that in Qld no political party or candidate can ever give your vote to anybody else? But Labor and the LNP love to stoke the myth that a vote for the Greens is a vote for another party, and that Greens will give your preferences to someone else. They’ll also tell you that voting for Greens is a ‘wasted vote’. These furphies have been peddled by them for so long they almost feel real. Unsurprisingly, they say it to scare people into sticking with them rather tha...n voting for Greens. This election it’s beginning to look like Labor’s only campaign tactic in the South East, to keep Greens from winning seats, is to tell bigger, shinier porkies. Pretty sad and grubby. And we expect more to come from the LNP too. I guess they’ll do whatever it takes to hang onto their seats.. Politics doesn’t have to be this way. So in case you’re left wondering about any of this, especially after Labor’s whopper today about Greens imaginary ‘preference deals’ with the LNP, here’s what’s real: A vote 1 for the Greens is, well, a vote for the Greens (yay!). You get to choose the preference order you want, and by law nobody can tell you otherwise (it’s why the preference order on a How-to-Vote card can only ever be a suggestion!). No party or candidate can ever give your vote or your preferences to anyone else. Like, NEVER. That’s the law. (Let’s face it, if it were possible Labor & the LNP would already being doing it to stop Greens votes surging!). We Queensland Greens have categorically ruled out any ‘preference deal’, power-sharing deal, coalition agreement, or guarantee of confidence or supply with the LNP or One Nation. Greens members in every branch across Queensland have voted to put One Nation and the LNP last on ‘how-to-vote’ suggestion cards for every seat in Queensland. Because of the LNP’s commitment to job cuts, privatisation, and cuts to essential services, the Greens would never provide confidence to an LNP government.

12.01.2022 Biggest love to the best crew ever! Nothing like a mega day of action to make you feel good 9 amazing poster teams put up 246 yard signs in one day! Want one? pm me or kirstenlovejoy.com.au/yardsign Our teams knocked on over 1500 doors and had fantastic convos across Spring Hill, Bowen Hills, Kelvin Grove, Petrie Tce, Newstead, & Fortitude Valley. We hopped on the phone and spoke with people in Herston, Teneriffe, & the CBD. We had people out letterboxing. I'm blown away by this campaign We really are doing this together! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

10.01.2022 Have you seen all the posters we've put up around McConnel? There's a serious buzz in the air! Election time can bring out the best and the worst in people, but I really feel we've been blessed in McConnel. People here seem to treat candidates - and their posters - with a degree of humanity. And I’ve loads of hope that’ll continue. I think the worst examples of vandalism that I've experienced here were some missing posters and a moustache in biro (which also included some chi...ldish insults). It wasn't okay, but I wasn't offended at all. It was nothing like what I saw during the last council and federal elections in areas nearby. The vial, offensive, disgusting attacks scrawled over our lovely Donna's posters at the beginning of this year, and Andrew's last year, were beyond revolting. Now we're seeing it happen during this state election across other parts of Brisbane ... And people love to offer their own theories and accusations when this kind of thing happens. Some will try and pin the blame on another party. Some say people have done it to their own posters for media. Some say it's just kids. But these theories don't help anyone; least of all the candidates, who carry the weight of these oftentimes extremely derogatory attacks. I am 100% certain that I don't want those truly hateful words or symbols plastered on my posters as they were on my beautiful friends', as they have also been on the posters of candidates from all parties. I don't want that for anyone. We all do better when we treat one another with kindness and respect, and (okay, I might be biased on this) I reckon McConnel'ites are legends at doing that. Having said that, if you do catch sight of some ugliness creeping in and onto our posters, we’re ready to spring into action. So please msg me so we can get rid of it quickly. Even if you see it on another party's poster, let me know and I’ll get word to them straight away. Now. Back to the good stuff. Who else wants a poster? kirstenlovejoy.com.au/yardsign

10.01.2022 Well there we are. Voting has closed but the count continues. We always knew it was going to be tough here in McConnel. But wow After visiting over 28,000 doors and intercoms.... After making around 18,000 phone calls. After all that was thrown at us: Labor's relentless fact-free attack ads and flyers, their smear attempts, their troll-harnessing, their hostility, aggression, physical intimidation and threats We never once gave up. When I think about the tens of thousands of hours that people have poured into this campaign, it’s actually really hard to find the words to say how I feel. We have had the brightest, most compassionate, caring, hopeful, and determined people join in what has been an incredible campaign. Hundreds of you. This was the real win. You have been amazing and I’m so proud to have you in my life. No matter which way the count goes in the end, we have all won. To all of you thank you. You are what made this a people powered movement - and this movement is getting stronger every single day. xx IMPORTANT EDIT: And holy dooley people!! We know Berko finally has at least one amazing friend finally! So excited for Amy MacMahon, Greens for South Brisbane and her crew . And biggest love also to all of our other campaigns close by and across the whole state - all of us together

10.01.2022 In the same year Qld Labor introduced the Planning Act, they took over $270,000 in donations from property developers. No wonder the rules are so loose. It's time we put our neighbourhoods ahead of developer profits. kirstenlovejoy.com.au/planning

09.01.2022 Did you see Qld Labor announce they'd spend an extra $624M to expand the state's police force? I’d like to hear your thoughts on this, but I have some of my own. First up, nobody wants to feel unsafe. But ask anyone who’s ever been broken into or been at the receiving end of a violent act and they’ll tell you they’d rather it never happened in the first place. Both have happened to me, and more police wouldn’t have stopped that. So why, when experts keeping telling us that...Continue reading

09.01.2022 We're determined to reach everyone this election. And with a huge thanks to people's generosity, we're 1/3 of the way to getting our compelling letter into McConnel homes! With only 3 days left, will you help too? kirstenlovejoy.com.au/letters

09.01.2022 Would you like my big face or my even bigger face out the front of your home this election? kirstenlovejoy.com.au/yardsign (renters too). Hosting a yard sign is a massive, powerful expression of community support. And when we only need 803 new votes to win, it could be your sign that makes the difference this election! Join our record-breaking number of sign hosts and help turn McConnel green.

08.01.2022 Always was. Always will be. Every minute of every single day We have all benefited from the knowledge, expertise and leadership of strong and determined First Nations people and communities across this continent. ... Total respect to the Turrbal, Jagera and Yuggara people, the Chepara-Yuggara and Jagera language groups, on whose country I live, work and raise my family. Sovereignty was never ceded. It's up to all of us to acknowledge and respect what that means in everything we do.

07.01.2022 Love this photo. Love that Amy will be joining Berko in Qld Parliament. Love how strong and positive and determined all of our campaigns were. Love that every new person who votes Greens does so because it makes just makes sense.

06.01.2022 It’s happening! The latest poll shows that people are sick of Labor and the LNP taking millions in corporate donations and cash for access meetings. They want their views represented and are looking to the Greens to do that. We’re so close to transforming Qld Politics forever. You can help make that happen by joining hundreds of volunteers to reach thousands of people every week - kirstenlovejoy.com.au/volunteer

06.01.2022 When you think about it, it's pretty odd that any government would need to be pushed into addressing what is a beyond-critical housing need. Yet here we are, as always, trying to get them to do the right thing. How about: create homes; create jobs; and make it a win win. Thanks Amy for not letting this government's silence and inaction go by unnoticed.

06.01.2022 It's been a while since I last caught up with the crew at New Farm Neighbourhood Centre & Communify, and so wanted to give a bit of a shout-out to them and all their wonderful humans for supporting our community over the years. In so many ways, you've helped so many people...a huge thank you for everything you do

05.01.2022 BREAKING: The Greens just announced our plan to make public transport completely free for every Queenslander We'll fund it by cutting expensive ticketing and enforcement costs and implementing a levy on property developers. We'll save $864 million over four years by scrapping the State Government's pricey, privatised ticketing system, reducing spending on road-widening and cutting costs associated with fare evasion like court costs.... We'll also expand Brisbane's bus network, create three new fast rail links across SEQ, build a network of safe separated bike lanes (A WIN FOR SAFETY!) and fast-track construction of green bridges over to West End. Free, frequent and reliable public transport will take pressure off families and cut congestion. It'll also provide a massive economic stimulus at a time when we desperately need it, by increasing travel around the city and making our neighbourhoods and communities more accessible thriving places to live. Here's the full details: kirstenlovejoy.com.au/public_transport

03.01.2022 Can you help people-fund this powerful message? kirstenlovejoy.com.au/billboard2 When you’re the only candidate in McConnel to refuse donations from corporations, it’s hard not to get drowned out by those that keep taking their millions. This election it’s crucial we are heard. We’re already a quarter of the way to getting this message out! But we need your help to raise the full $5,000 and reach over 150,000 people. Right now, independent polling shows we are in the lead ...but only by a tiny 1%! If we’re going to hang onto that lead and win McConnel, then we’re going to have to dig even deeper to be seen and heard over the next 45 days. This election we can win. And because I don’t owe any favours to big corporations like the other parties, it means I will fight for you. It’s time for our people and our planet to come first.

03.01.2022 Our grassroots campaign is working! And people are pumped to see it show in the poll results published in The Oz today. Being ahead of Labor by 1% might put us on track to win McConnel in October, but we can't slow down now! It's way too close. Everything we do now will make a difference. Want to be a part of that? Sign up at kirstenlovejoy.com.au/volunteer & transform Qld politics.

03.01.2022 Wow! There were times it felt like this day would never come. I am truly humbled by the amazing efforts of our volunteers who put thousands of hours into this campaign. And I can't begin to put into words how incredible the conversations have been with people around the electorate. There's a real appetite for change, and regardless of the outcome after 6pm tonight I will never stop fighting for my community and the principles that led me to stand as a candidate. If you haven't done an early vote and you haven't received your postal vote, today is your last chance. You have until 6pm to have your say. Thank you all so much for your support and see you at the booth when voting kicks off at 8am this morning! xx (For all our vols, don't forget hats, water bottles, and umbrellas!)

02.01.2022 We can energise Queensland manufacturing and undo Labor and the LNP's mistake when they allowed it to go offshore. See our plan to power thousands of local jobs by taking on growing global demand for solar panels, wind turbines and green steel. kirstenlovejoy.com.au/manufacturing
