25.01.2022 Experimental Lavender Farm LOL Very very dry still around here,the smoke has cleared and some clouds in the sky.Here's hoping. Lots of little visitors in the lavender every afternoon.The greenest grass (in fact the only grass) on my 40 acres is between the lavender rows where the hoses have been running 24/7. The wallabies are now drinking from the cattle water trough.

23.01.2022 Love of Lavender LOL What a week it has been in the scenic rim. I have had bush fires on three sides,road closures, my bag packed and the car facing the front gate. Nowhere to go and all day to get there what does one do? MAKE JAM. This strawberry jam is some of the best I have ever made. Sometimes the sugar and acid in the fruit comes together perfectly with the natural pectin. Well all the roads are open especially past my door to Queen Mary Falls so come on out for a coffee and support businesses in the bush.

23.01.2022 LOL small scale experimental lavender farm I am sitting here at my little piece of beautiful Australia,in the scenic rim near Boonah surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and I can not see any of them because of smoke. I had about 12 head of cattle left about a month ago with absolutely NO feed in the paddock. I contacted the DPI to ask for some transport assistance to get then to the sale yard about 30KM away rather than have them die in the paddock.The man was polite but said... I am not a primary producer so have a nice day. My small start up tourist business will not even rate a reply from Scott Morrison. The ADF are all in their barracks polishing their turrets.The local members are all missing in action. I have just read a very inspiring email from a farming/tourism family at Maryvale who are forging ahead with optimism and future plans. Gleneden Family Farm. My Take Out. 22.01.2022 Very quiet today on my tourist route 21 up to the Queen Mary falls and beyond into NSW.The only traffic seems to be twin cabs with trailers and utes with dirt bikes and trail bikes on the back (essential travel I am sure) no sign of police.

22.01.2022 My laptop recently died while I was in Bali. New one now (thank you ,Ben) but massive upgrade to Windows 10. Think I am too old for this but never fear the "Dummies" book has now arrived so that should keep me isolated well past 14 days. Just have to roll with the flow, But one roll at a time. 19.01.2022 Scenic Rim has again turned on the most beautiful weather for this long weekend. Lots happening in the area with farm gate trails, "fill an esky" and more. I have 4 groups camping down on the flats, and room for more. Maybe we will get up a cricket match tomorrow on "the oval" Stay safe and warm.

18.01.2022 LOL Experimental lavender farm I had a visit this morning from some of my neighbours cattle.They are the biggest cattle I have ever seen,they don't push through fences, they just step over them.

16.01.2022 Now living full time on my farm in the scenic rim,experimenting with Lavender. this mornings indulgence was reading a current issue of Country Style and an english Country Living. with the coffee machine left on, and thinking about my usual FRIDAY cooking session. A hobby I enjoy and now have time to indulge.IT occurred to me that the British mag had lots of events and ways to connect for people who are in the countryside, maybe lonely but isolated during the pandemic. I have been looking for some time to find some FOODIES out here in the Fassifern. OK SO HERE IS THE THING. is there anyone who would like to come on a friday morning and cook and chat (or just chat)have a coffee or glass of wine and increase your circle of friends. I am sure the past year has been very difficult for lots of folk. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE YOU KNOW.

13.01.2022 A fabulous crystal clear Autumn morning in the scenic rim.In my glorious isolation with the ABC I am re-reading "the farm community", a family xmas gift. All about a community of people sharing land and resources BUT running their own small business. These are NOT hippies.What a wonderful community spirit to better use our land. Stay safe people.

11.01.2022 Well I have just had the most delightful morning out. Tommerups Dairy farm and Xmas Markets at Kerry just outside Beaudesert. This is an intergenerational working family dairy farm with every animal imaginable.Great to see this family pushing the boundaries and moving forward.

02.01.2022 Well I guess that's a wrap for XMAS 2019. The sleigh is back in the shed for the elves to clean and polish, rudolph (et al)is out in the paddock and santa is under the covers for a well earned rest. I haven't seen my family of wallabies since 31 mm of xmas rain.Hope you all had a great and WET xmas.

01.01.2022 15 cows went to mow, went to mow the oval 15 cows and a dog spot and a bottle of pop went to mow the Oval. Lots of campers on my property for this long weekend so maybe a game of cricket tomorrow.
