10.01.2022 For the last 55 years, the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club has been a central place in Batemans Bay to enjoy a good meal and drink, listen to music and spend some time with friends and family. CEO Paul Biddlestone explains how the Soldiers Club not only employs around 90 local people, but also supports the Bay community with sponsorships and donations, including to the local RFS. Paul invites everybody to come and visit Batemans Bay "our little secret, for everyone to enjoy"! ... This week the first from 15 trees has been permanently 'lit up', with assistance of local electrician Tim from South Coast Electrical Solutions Pty Ltd, Chamber Vice President Charles Stuart, all businesses along the walkway supplying power... and a grant we as Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber have secured from Bushfire Recovery NSW. Next week, 14 more trees will be decorate...d with these permanent outdoor fairy lights - with the help of Tim and a team of NAB bank volunteers... 'let's light up the Bay!' 01.01.2022 Most of you may or may not know it is NAIDOC Week and you may have seen this post in a front door, here is the story of the artist and the poster for this years NAIDOC Week. Shape of Land artwork, by Noongar and Saibai Islander man Tyrown Waigana. Tyrown’s passion for art and design began at an early age and his goal is to make a living of being an artist and take on exciting new creative projects.... Shape of Land description: The Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land.
