23.01.2022 A lovely friend from my school days ordered a gift box from us for her Warrior so she could support us both Thank you lovely xx

22.01.2022 A lot of the time I doubt myself about what I should say and put out there. I write, re-write and worry about what I say and if it's the right thing. I worry about upsetting people. Today I had my checkup with my oncologist who's sending me for a precautionary MRI and I have to say, I'd forgotten how much those puppies cost! I wanted to write a post about 'shopping around' for quotes, but deleted it because I didn't want to deter people from getting checked or for people to... delay urgent scans while they shop around. I was also embarrassed because my weird brain didn't jump to the fear of recurrence, but guilt over how much money we spend & have spent to date on my health and what else that money could go to, and how much that could help us to do other things (all the while knowing that above holidays, christmas presents & new blinds, the MRI has to come first). So today, I have to remind myself of what Love Your Warrior stands for and that it doesn't just apply to everyone else. Ultimately I'm just one of the gang, talking from my own experiences and not always knowing what to say. But always, always sending a LOT of love your way.

21.01.2022 Welcome to R U OK? Day 2020 R U OK? Day recommends the following ways to start a conversation: "What you're going through is isn't easy. It's good we can talk about it"... "That's tough, keep talking, I'm listening". Such fabulous ways we can use to check in with each other... because we all need it xx

21.01.2022 It’s Women’s Health Week lovelies! A great reminder to look after our health, perhaps follow up an appointment, celebrate health milestones met, or if you’ve not been feeling great, make time to follow up. Spread the word & tell all the gorgeous women in your life to look after themselves too xx

19.01.2022 Take a listen to our ‘elevator pitch’ showcased on Mia Freedman’s (Mamamia) Lady Start Up Podcast today!!

19.01.2022 Crazy excited to have our ‘elevator pitch’ run at the end. A little audio bite of April & I talking about Love Your Warrior. Very generous support from Mia Freedman’s Lady Start Up. A great podcast, can’t wait for part 2.

17.01.2022 Yep, I actually did this during chemo.. and it was the proper ceramic sugar bowl too where the lid just slid off... it was funny, we laughed - I mean, he had sugar everywhere. But then, I started to wonder 'what else do I get up to?'. I was shocked and a little freaked out. I'd had chemo brain for a while, but thought that apart from forgetting what I was saying half way through a sentence and forgetting family members names, I was managing OK. Chemo brain is real my friends ...and it doesn't go straight away (it can take up to 2 years). At times it can be straight out embarrassing. Especially if you've officially 'finished treatment' and it's assumed the effects of chemo have gone. Bear with us lovelies... any minute now we’ll be keeping the sugar bowl on the shelf & out of the lunchboxes xx

16.01.2022 Are you a Breast Cancer Warrior? We'd really love to hear from you. WHY? LYW is putting together a booklet of phrases, words of wisdom or thoughts from Warriors to other Warriors, so they feel more connected & less alone when in the ‘cancer bubble’. Just like a big warm supportive hug from those that get it.... We’d be very honoured & grateful if you would be willing to be part of it. Please DM us or email [email protected] with your message, age at diagnosis & first name to include in the booklet. Here are some we have received already: Initially I didn’t let many people ‘see behind the curtain’ because I’ve always been so independent, but as time went on, I realised there was so much support and I needed more help. Letting people in and letting go of some of my need to do everything myself was actually a big relief. Jo, Diagnosed at 38, Team Leader Letting go of the guilt that I was a burden to others took time, but it was such a relief when I didn’t have to do it all myself. Saying yes more often was a like a gift to myself. Jenny, Diagnosed at 59, Retired. I fought hard against the way treatment made me feel, I think at the time I thought it was helping me keep my head above water. Ultimately, it was too hard to live like that, some days I had to admit the chemo had won, then other days, I was stronger and felt like I could take it on. Farah, Diagnosed at 41, Retail, Mum of 2 Mine will be: "Every now and then I'd see a complete stranger smiling the warmest smile at me, and I'd know, they'd walked in my shoes. It really helped" Sonia, Diagnosed at 42, Working Mum of 3 gorgeous kiddos.

15.01.2022 I had the pleasure to be part of this fun video for the ladystartup podcast... take a peek x

12.01.2022 Isn’t this how you serve your tea & bici’s? Pukka Supreme Matcha Green tea is such a soothing tea, particularly when feeling off, & makes a great combo with these thin, ginger biscuits from Harris Farm. I lived on them when feeling nauseous during chemo. Now, I just enjoy them because they taste so good. ... This delicious & subtle green tea is included in our ‘You’ve Got This’ Gift Box for Chemo & Radiation - see the link in our bio xx

07.01.2022 The emotional struggle after treatment is very real and for some, ongoing. Being there to listen can be so helpful because your Warrior is processing what’s just happened & having quite a few OMG moments. These moments come randomly- for me, my biggest one came whilst standing at the photocopier at work. Talking to a good friend about it later really helped xx

03.01.2022 The good news is, it’s not so much about what you say, it’s more about reaching out & asking how they are. Sometimes it can be hard to make that initial contact, even if it’s someone close, try starting with how are you going, where are you up to in all of this? or it must have been a shock, how are you?... pretty much anything genuine you say when reaching out will be ok. Oh yeah - just don’t say stay positive , it’s one of the most common pet peeves for a Warrior xx

03.01.2022 I spent a lot of time trying to find my way back physically, mentally & emotionally after treatment ended. It was like a new phase began. As @mycancerchronicles said in a recent post I want to bring awareness to the PTSD from a health trauma and the fact that people don’t just bounce back. For me, time, love, support, counselling & processing has helped me move through it and reach a new me, as so many Warriors do xx

02.01.2022 How do you refill your tank? For me, it’s doing small but soul feeding jobs outside in the light and the air. Giving my gardenia’s some love today has helped me create space, think more clearly and feel connected to myself. Even if I spent 10 minutes in the garden last year when doing treatment, it always helped. I mean, eating chocolate brownie also fills me with joy especially if my son makes it AND washes up! Oh actually wait, sorry, that’s different- they call that a miracle
