25.01.2022 Over the last 6 years, I have had people from all over the world come and stay with me either as WWoofer's wanting to experience working on an organic farm, HelpX's just wanting a farm experience, or backpackers looking for a nice place to stay while they look for paid work around the area. I offer them a safe, scenic and comfy place to stay where they are treated as family. They offer me a helping hand with some of the many day to day jobs around the farm and we all learn a lot from each other be it cultural exchange, recipes for foods, conversations on many topics from our diverse backgrounds. Italian, French, Canadian, Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean, African, German and even other Aussies. Most of whom become lifelong friends. and welcome to come back and stay here anytime

20.01.2022 Seems very quiet here today now that my latest visitors, Marco and Marion, have moved on to their next adventure. So much has been achieved around the farm and gardens in the last 2 weeks, which has saved me a lot of back breaking work. I have been sharing my life with travellers from around the world for the last 4 years which has been an amazing opportunity and one that I can recommend to anyone needing a little help or companionship. Work in exchange for sharing accommodation and meals with the added benefit of cultural exchange and the opportunity to meet the most amazing people most of whom go on to become lifelong friends.

11.01.2022 July on that farm has been all about water. Over 450ml rain in just a few short weeks has seen water seeping out of the earth everywhere. The run off into the dam has been huge and I struggled to keep it from going over the top. The drains have been cleared of fallen tree limbs and other debree, I had to leave the overflow valve open for days and thankfully, the last few days have been dry and so the dam disaster has been averted. All the rainwater tanks are also overflowin...g so now I am nicely set up for the next 12 months. Veggie gardens are flourishing, some of the fruit trees are already flowing which is probably not such a good thing, but will just have to wait and see. It's been pretty cold so chewing through the wood at a great rates of knots. Lucky o still have plenty. But all in all has been a good month with visits from family, and lots of things acheived. See more

10.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live this life. Well sure, there's lots of cute cuddly baby animals and evenings sipping glasses of wine on the verandah looking out over the amazing views of rolling hills, beautiful local birds and glassy dams. (come to think of it ..morning cuppa and lunch breaks are more my style). Or watching storm fronts roll in, with the odd bolt of lightning and claps of thunder for a bit of excitement, while sitting in front of a cosy ...log fire keeping warm on a freezing winter night. .....stop right there.... Don't get too excited, someone has to chop that firewood and lug it up to the house before cosy fire can happen....and work doesn't stop just cos it's raining....it's real fun working in heavy rain squalls mending that fence that the cute baby cows just broke through. Not to mention other fun activities that result in sheep shit flicking up all over you while you try to install a new waterline for those sneaky little fence jumping cows... and more poos (chooks, ducks, paccas, cows, turkeys) clogging up your shoes when you make the twice daily trek to feed all those cute critters. And whatever you do...don't leave your poo clogged shoes outside for fear Molly dog takes off with them and chews them to shreds ..they obviously taste better than the foxes she's employed to keep away. Might have to review her contract sometime soon ... But all the same, I wouldn't change a minute of it. I love my life...July on the farm See more

03.01.2022 I am always sad when visitors to the farm head off for their next adventure and so I say goodbye to Gianluca and Laura after 2 months. Thank you so much for all the jobs that you did during your stay. so many things I have been putting off have now been done in and around the house and garden. Thanks for all the interesting conversations and chill out time on the couch, even though you got stuck with watching all my favourite TV shows. You guys were amazing and I will miss you. Good luck with the future and happy travels.

02.01.2022 It's been a couple of weeks since these crazy fun guys left. But finally have found time to put up a few pics. So much achieved in such a short time. Thanks so much for all your help around the farm and house. From rock picking in the hay paddock, to helping me make products for the shop. I really enjoyed your company and hope you enjoyed your stay here at Lowden Ridge Farm. Enjoy your travels across the rest of Australia. You are always welcome to return anytime.

01.01.2022 The last couple of weeks on the farm have been busy. Said goodbye to my new friends Fede and Marco as they continue on their travels around Australia. Welcomed new arrivals Guia, Carlos, Anna and Andrea from italy who will help around the farm for a while. The hay crop is in, the fence secured with a new Hot wire to keep out the bloody cows, the rocks have been picked, some pesky cotton seed bush has been pulled. Gabby the dorper ewe sadly lost her little lamb then strangely out of no where another little injured orphan lamb has been adopted. And to top it off a magical bonfire evening under the full moon.
