14.01.2022 MONDAY UPDATE: We still have apricots available in 5kg boxes or 1kg bags. Our summer fruit season is nearly done. We still have apricots this weekend at the farmshop and Sunday morning at Farm Gate Market.

11.01.2022 So much talk in the media this week about farmers only employing backpackers for harvest work and not giving locals a chance. The term backpacker has almost been used as if these people are invaders from another planet. At Lowdina we employ Tasmanians, Australians, French, German, Canadian, Chinese, Korean, Indian, Nepalese, Taiwanese, Argentinian, Chilean and the list goes on. They are all people. Just people. Human beings with a desire to earn money. To feed... and house themselves and their families. They don’t need to be treated with disdain by other people who decide that their own need is somehow greater. All these people bring diversity and spirit to our Orchard. Our fruit is picked and packed by people who have chosen to do it and they understand that great effort equals great rewards. Forcing people to work for their benefits will not enhance our fruit in any way. The flavour of discontentment is not desired. See more

08.01.2022 Need a rainy day or long weekend project? We currently have plenty of jam apricots, they are $15 for a 5kg box. Great for stewing, freezing, jam, relish or anything else creative. Farmshop is open every day from 8am till 6pm or we can bring your order to Hobart on Sunday to collect at our Farm Gate Market stall. Please share

06.01.2022 When Covid-19 hit there were many backpackers trapped in Tasmania and not able to get home. Whilst we didn't have any work for them, we could give them a safe place to stay and soon their journey of Australia will continue.
