04.01.2022 So we finished reaping today, but on this day 5 years ago we abruptly finished our harvest, for a completely different reason. You put it to the back of your mind, but the footage brings it all back. Much has changed in these 5 years, as we rarely see farmers on the back of firefighting utes now without protective clothing organised by Ag Bureau’s and financially supported by many businesses. Our communities are closer, and the rural network/grapevine is stronger, as a lot ...of the header/lightning fires in our area lately have been extinguished by the 20 or so Farmer Fire Units who arrived before the CFS, such is the preparedness and the response to a call to action to assist our neighbours and fellow farmers. We still grieve for, and remember those families who lost loved ones, houses and possessions and the suffering they still endure. We give thanks for the fabulous friends, family and colleagues who rushed to support us. Disasters and catastrophes are traumatic, but we endure and survive, and become all the more resilient people, and stronger communities because of them. See more
