24.01.2022 Happy November everyone! We're almost at my favourite time of the year, Christmas In the spirit of getting that Christmas shopping done early, I wanted to let you know that we will have gift cards available for purchase at the Beechmont Markets this month. November's markets are going to be pretty spectacular with BAPA's big bash happening in the afternoon too. If you think a gift card for massage or acupuncture could be the perfect gift for someone in your life and you won't make it to the markets, just shoot us a message and we can sort something out

23.01.2022 It's usually much wiser to listen to the messengers

23.01.2022 As the sun sets on another week, we like to think back to all the interesting things we got help with. Feeling very grateful for all the opportunities life has provided us to get to where we are now

22.01.2022 There is strength in learning to ask for, and accept, help

18.01.2022 MOVE YOUR BODY! I know it's cold, and it gets dark early and there just aren't enough hours in the day and you're busy and there are other things you need to do and...I know! Those are all my excuses too, but every day I try to remind myself about all the good things that moving my body does for me. - Balances hormones... - Increases blood flow - Promotes cardiac health, mental health and meridian health - Assists digestion (this last one's my favourite ) It doesn't really matter what you do either; HIIT, weights, jogging, walking, swimming, dance, yoga...even just rolling around on the floor stretching. It's all good stuff! Thanks to @emilie.yoga.cairo on Instagram for the pic of jathara parivartanasana, my favourite yoga pose for digestion

16.01.2022 Sometimes those old wives tales really are best

16.01.2022 Although these conditions are in no way limited to females, we certainly do see these presentations very often in our female patients. Whether women are disproportionately affected by emotional factors, or whether they're just more likely to seek assistance with managing them is up for debate. Either way, ladies, make sure you're looking after you

15.01.2022 Big thanks to @crankycranium for the reminder It can be so easy to forget that we are capable of regeneration when it feels like we're being cut down all the time

14.01.2022 This week is National Stroke Week. With 1 in 4 Australians experiencing a stroke in their lifetime, it's vital that everyone recognises the signs of a stroke. Stroke is ALWAYS an emergency, if you notice any 1 of the following signs, call 000. - Weakness, numbness or paralysis of face, arms or legs - Difficulty speaking or understanding - Dizziness or unexplained fall... - Decrease in or loss of vision - Headache - Difficulty swallowing #strokeweek2020

Check out the Women's Health Week website during this week to delve into vaginal, cardiovascular, digestive, brain and even financial health! #womenshealthweek2020

12.01.2022 This Women's Health Week we're highlighting some of our favourite female acupuncturists These ladies have the most beautiful hearts and are so dedicated to empowering their sisters and sending love out into this world in abundance. We are so lucky to know them and to have shared parts of our journey with them.

11.01.2022 What a cute infographic, thanks @daolabs! If you find yourself craving a particular flavour, it could indicate a pathology in the associated organ. Think about asking your local friendly acupuncturist how you can best support the organ in strife.

09.01.2022 Practically our life motto

05.01.2022 Following on from Tuesday's post, here is a quick little abbreviation to help us remember the more prominent signs of a stroke. If you notice any one of these signs, immediately dial 000 #strokeweek2020

05.01.2022 Have you ever felt, just, stuck? Not quite ill, not quite in pain...just, not good? Then you should try cupping! This awesome treatment method is one of our favourites, and we use it on ourselves all the time. From a Chinese Medicine perspective, it moves Qi & Blood and relieves stagnation. That means that it is a fascial release technique for tight muscles and can promote your body's natural detox pathways by moving lymph. Despite the marks that can occur if applied to a pa...rticularly stagnant area, cupping is a painless technique. It is often described as a reverse massage and is very relaxing. 05.01.2022 Let's talk Chinese Medicine terminology You may have heard your acupuncturist refer to Wind invasions before, it is one of our favourite topics. Wind (capital W) is a pathogenic factor which can act as a carrier for other pathogens like cold and damp. Once in the body, it can cause all sorts of trouble. Commonly we see body aches & stiffness, chills, stuffy nose, scratchy throats and pain which seems to move around. Two of the major culprits for the origin of Wind invasion ar...e uncovered necks (especially on cold & windy days) and sleeping with open windows or fans. So look after yourselves, be mindful of Wind and if you're feeling a little under the weather, chat to your acupuncturist. They can help with more than you think they can! Book online at www.lowerbeechmontacu.com or text/call 0421 785 515

05.01.2022 A weird thing your acupuncturist probably does..."let me see your tongue". I find most patients get so self concious about sticking out their tongue, there's no need. The tongue is such a great objective indicator of your internal health. From looking at it we can see if there's stagnation, heat, deficiency, damp and all sorts of other things. Have a look at the map in the second picture and have a go at figuring out what might be happening in your body!

05.01.2022 Pain this week

04.01.2022 To finish up National Stroke Week 2020, I wanted to shine a light on some of the disorders which can result from a stroke #strokeweek2020

04.01.2022 I always find that the hardest part is getting started, but it does appear to be the most necessary part of achieving anything

03.01.2022 Did you know that your acupuncturist is a great resource for keeping on top of your emotional health?

01.01.2022 wú wéi Go with the flow A Taoism concept which is hard to translate to English without conjuring images of laziness or apathy. Really it means to recognise and work with the ebb and flow of nature to achieve results.
