25.01.2022 Today the Toddler's were encouraged to join Miss Leanne in a colour recognition experience. They sat on the mat where they named coloured items as they were pulled out of the special box. The children took turns to guess what colour the objects were and they were very proud when they guessed the colour correctly. This was the perfect opportunity for the children to enhance their memory skills and take turns with their peers. Later, the children created their own yellow collage, using different yellow shapes arranged these across the page. As the children chose the yellow pieces to arrange across the page, they were encouraged to feel the different textures and how they felt against the sticky glue. This experience supports the children’s fine motor skills and encourages concentration.
24.01.2022 We would love to say a MASSIVE Happy Birthday to Miss Amy!
24.01.2022 This week the Centre has been celebrating NAIDOC week by joining in on a variety of different experiences. Today we joined Miss Anna in creating a piece of Aboriginal artwork, on bark using the Aboriginal dot painting method. Miss Anna encouraged the children to dip their cotton bud into yellow, black, red or white paints and to then dot it over the piece of bark in front of them. Children showed lots of interest as they moved their bud over their bark as they created their piece of artwork. #QCCS #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOC #childcare #earlychildhoodeducation #aboriginal #dotpainting

23.01.2022 This morning the toddler children were encouraged to explore their creative expression as they took part in two different art and craft experiences. Our first activity encouraged the children to use thick paint brushes to manipulate the shave foam that had been added to the paint, the children showed lots of interest in the foamy solution as they placed their fingers in to feel the texture in between their fingers. Our second art activity was textured brush painting the chi...ldren were encouraged to use different textured brushes to manipulate the paint over the paper. It was wonderful to see the children show much resilience as they used trial and error to move the brush over the paper. #artandcraft #childcare #earlylearning #brisbane #painting
22.01.2022 Today in the Toddler Room we popped our creative hats on to challenge our fine motor and manipulation skills, by participating in a string painting. Miss Anna encouraged the children to pick up a piece of string that had been dipped into paint and to move it over their piece of paper. It was great to see the children exploring different ways that they could move the string to mark the paper and showing such wonder and curiosity as they moved the string to create their unique markings and designs. #painting #childcare #earlychildhood #QCCS
22.01.2022 Wow We have been working on creating a very cool rainbow wall! Today we experimented with colours by creative a ‘volcano’ out of food colouring, a lemon and bi-carb. We had so much fun following the steps and creating a picture with the eruption. We really liked how all of the colours mixed together and watching the bubbles pop! ... #STEMactivity #QCCS #childcare #lowoodEEC

21.01.2022 Today in the Nursery, it was time to sit on the mat with Miss Anna and engage in our language activity for the morning. The children all sat excitedly waiting as Miss Anna had a container sitting with her. I wonder what could be hiding - it was the puppets. The children had a great time as they engaged with using the puppets with some of their favourite action songs. Today it was 5 Fat Sausages and 5 Cheeky Monkeys. What a lovely way to spend some quiet time before lunch and engage in role play and language. #roleplay #puppets #nurseryroom #QCCS #earlylearning #lowoodEEC
21.01.2022 Family dining is a practice during our day that brings us all together. It creates a sense of belonging and gives the kindy room time to reflect about the things we have done during the morning activities. Most importantly it is a time to enjoy all the delicious nutritious meals that are supplied to us by The Healthy Cooking Company. The meals provided are all natural based and cater for all allergy types. The kindy children are very lucky to have such healthy foods that provide our bodies the strength to learn and play each day. #healthybodyhealthyminds #earlylearning #childcare #QCCS

20.01.2022 Washing our hands is an important part of our daily routine. In the Kindy Room Miss Lisa & Miss Kelli continually speak about the importance of washing our hands before and after we eat, when we go to the toilet, when we blow our nose, when we cough and for any other reason that may affect the high quality of hygiene we practiced in the Centre. Miss Lisa demonstrates regularly the correct process to ensure the Kindy children are thoroughly washing every part of their hands. #cleanhands #hygiene #washinghands #QCCS #childcare
19.01.2022 This morning we completed our science experiment that we started working on last week. We created some sensory bottles using coloured water, oil and glitter to make lava lamps. Today we got to add the special formula to make them wiggle and bubble, everyone waited their turn and watched as the bubbles went through the oil and out the top! This was such an interesting thing to watch that it took up most of our morning. Experimenting is a great way for the children to look... at how things react together, work as a team and learn new concepts by igniting their curiosity. #science #experiment #QCCS #lowood
19.01.2022 Holidays are a wonderful time to share with family and friends. This morning we had a friend come back today from a week at the beach! Elora shared with us some photos that were taken while she was on holidays. She stood in front of her peers and told us stories about her favourite thing to do while on holidays. The kids asked questions and then shared their memories of similar holidays. Showing and sharing is a great was to build connections and enhance communication ...skills. Please feel free to share exciting times and send in photos of holidays! We love seeing them! #showandtell #holidays #beachholiday #childcare #earlylearning #sharing #QCCS #brisbane
18.01.2022 Who doesnt love a game of ten pin bowling! This morning the Kindy children enjoyed a game a bowling. Some were familiar with the game and told stories about the times they have been with family and friends. Miss Lisa asked these children if they would like to demonstrate how the game is played for their friends. As we watched, everyone cheered when the pins were knocked over ! This was sometimes helped by the wind! What a great game to help develop hand eye coordination ...and also to enhance social skills and the art of sharing and taking turns! #strike #childcare #earlylearning #QCCS
18.01.2022 The Kindergarten children were busy building on our construction table. We put on our hard hats and picked up our hammers. We used our hand eye coordination to hit the nails with our hammer, hitting it into the wood. We are using real life skills to build with nails as we remain safe. #construction #handmade #earlychildhood #childcare #lowood #earlylearning #QCCS
18.01.2022 Welcome to the Kindergarten Band! We used different items from our recycled items to help us create different instruments. We were able to explore how shaking, banging and strumming can all create a different sound. This allowed us to explore the tempo of the music as we played fast and slow together. We used bottles, boxes, egg cartons, sticks and rubber bands to create our instrument, finding new ways to use our recycled things.

15.01.2022 Today the Pre Kindy children practiced their language and communication skills by playing a game. The children sat down in a round circle and when it was their turn, they were encouraged to say "My name is" and then choose a friend they wished to roll the ball too. The children have been working extremely hard on following instructions and communication over the past week. Throughout this experience the children extended on turn taking, communication and building on already developed friendships. #communicationskills #earlylearning #lowoodchildcare #QCCS
15.01.2022 What a great day to be in Kindy! We got to share our time with lots of friends outside this morning. We played with the play dough, tiny insects, used mirrors to draw our facial features and had a game of ten pin bowling. It was great to see the children using their sense of agency and taking a child directed approach to their play. Allowing children the freedom to make choices helps support their independence skills, encourages them to make connections to the world around them and increases self -awareness. #Buildingstrongindependentchildren #playdough #earlylearning #QCCS
14.01.2022 Today the Toddler children were invited to take part in a shave foam experience where they were encouraged to use their fingers to manipulate the shave foam over the table. It was great to see the children show so much wonder in the cold gooey foam, as they squeezed it between their fingers and over the table. This is a great way for the children to explore their fine motor and manipulation skills in a social way. #finemotoractivity #earlylearning #QCCS
14.01.2022 Miss Lee and Miss Zoe prepared a blue shaving foam experience today At first some were unsure of what to do. Should I touch it? What is this for? Then they looked at their friends next to them who had their whole hands in the shaving foam, mixing it across the page and decided to give this a try. Smiles emerged around the table as they children felt the different texture of the shaving foam encouraging inquiry and investigative skills.... #QCCS #childcare #lowood #shavingfoam #sensoryplay
14.01.2022 The Kindergarten children explored sustainability in different ways today as we added sticks to our threading activities. We walked around our playground and collect sticks to place into the pot to create our own tree design. We used our creative skills to place different coloured beads onto the stick, creating a colourful design. At another table we used fishing wire to thread beads, straws and pasta. We had to use our spatial awareness skills to thread our creations onto a stick. This will brighten our outdoor area while incorporating nature.
14.01.2022 Today we joined our love for painting with our love for science! The children were very excited and intrigued by the experience we put out on the table today. There was green paint, magnetic balls, a tray, paper and a magnet. We added all of these interesting items to the tray and got to work creating a magnetic green painting. Through exploring magnets we are figuring out the way things work, exploration and observation. Give it a try! ... #QCCS #childcare #paintingwithscience #magnetpainting
13.01.2022 Happy International Literacy Day The Kindergarten children incorporated literacy into our outdoor play as we used water and paint brushes to draw on the concrete. We were able to move and control the brush to draw the straight and curved lines needed to create the letters in our name. This allowed us to write letters without fear of making a mistake because as the water dried our writing disappeared. #literacylearning #InternationalLiteracyDay #QCCS #lowoodchildcare UNESCO
13.01.2022 Remembrance Day is a memorial day to remember all those who fought and died in the line of duty to keep us free. After looking at the poppy flower, Kindergarten created their own crepe paper poppy to place together in the garden to help remember the importance of this day. Kindergarten also created their own sunset picture with a soldier to honour the soldiers as we hold our minute silence. Lest We Forget.... #lestweforget2020 #QCCS #remembranceday
12.01.2022 Earlier in the week we explored bowling as we rolled the ball to knock down the pins. Dominic asked "Why are there balls in the bottom?". To help explore this question we used three bottles. One we left empty and the next we used the funnel to fill with a small amount of sand. In our third bottle we poured a lot of sand, making it heavy. We lined up all the bottles with the lids tightly on and we blew them. The empty bottle fell over, just like it would in the wind. Together we agreed this would not work for bowling. We used a small ball and rolled it towards our bottle. The bottle with the small sand fell over while the heavy bottle remained still. We tested this by moving the bottles close and far away before deciding that a bowling pin needs a little weight but not to much to make it perfect for bowling.
12.01.2022 Today, Miss Sandra and the Nursery went over to check on our vegetable garden while they were outside. Our Lettuce plants have matured and are now ready to pick, so the children helped to pull them out of the garden. The children in the Babies Room have been very involved in helping to water and care for our vegetable garden and flowers. The children enjoy loving spending their time outside and the garden provides them with an opportunity to learn about sustainability and caring for the environment. #vegetables #sustainability #earlylearning #brisbane #childcare
12.01.2022 Today the Toddler's were encouraged to participate in different group activities including scarf dancing, car painting and ball games. The children had the opportunity to learn skills to play alongside their peers including sharing and turn taking. As the children gathered together inside this morning, Miss Lee invited our friends to sit in a circle on the mat. The children took turns to roll the ball to one of their peers and try to remember their name. The children felt a s...ense of belonging to the group and it strengthened their relationships. When it was time for our creative experience, the children excitedly gathered around the table and selected their own car to paint with. The children sat together as they rolled the car back and forth over the page creating different patterns. Some of our friends made car sounds, "broom", whilst others enjoyed smiling with their educators and peers. When it was time for dancing, the children ran over to the mat and quickly chose their coloured scarf. The Wiggles music began which encouraged our friends to move their bodies freely, dancing and enjoying each other's company. See more
12.01.2022 Perceptual motor skills are an essential aspect of child development. Here in the Kindergarten Room we use our outdoor activity time to practice our skills as we make our way through the obstacle course. We develop our balancing and climbing skills. We take turns to decide which order and direction we explore each day as we learn and develop our gross motor and spatial awareness skills. #perceptualmotor #motorskills #physicalactivity #brisbane #childcare #earlylearning #QCCS
12.01.2022 Remembrance Day To celebrate this significant event in history, the toddler children joined in the celebrations by creating their very own red poppy. The red poppy is the most famous symbol used to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in World War l. Wearing a Poppy was inspired by the fields of poppies that grew where many of the battles were fought!... #poppies #QCCS #remembranceday #lestweforget2020

11.01.2022 The Kindergarten children used shapes to help us explore the concept of symmetry. We had to create the same shape on the other side of the line to create the different shapes. When we were unsure about what the shape was, we were able to use the mirror to help us see what the whole shape looked like as we held it up along the line. Using a familiar concept like shapes helps us to feel confident to explore the new concept of symmetry.
10.01.2022 The Kindy children are working on some exciting projects that will update our current wall displays and keep our families up to date with the progression of learning happening in the room. The children painted their hand prints onto a big canvas, the idea behind one of our projects is to further create our sense of belonging within the room. We have had lots of new friends join the Kindy Room and Miss Lisa wants to ensure they feel a sense of belonging, as well as begin to make friendships with their peers and educators. We value each and every child in our Centre and feel it important to create a space where inclusion is priority.
10.01.2022 This morning Miss Jayme, Zaidyn, Rayna and Spencer went over to check on our vegetables that have been growing in the garden. All of our vegetables have grown and look like they are ready to be picked. The Nursery children enjoy maintaining the garden, by using the watering can to water the garden. Zaidyn and Spencer had picked a bit of the parsley of and gave it a try, but they both pulled a funny face. The children love spending time outside and taking care of their g...arden. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about sustainability and caring for their own environment as well as a sense of responsibility looking after their garden. #veggiepatch #gardening #childcare #brisbane #earlylearning #QCCS #vegetablegarden

09.01.2022 The Kindy children are fantastic at imagining things and love to pretend play. Today they created a fairy garden using materials from outside and different crafts. Miss Lisa supported this play by showing them pictures of fairy gardens on the smart board -this helped them to extend their thinking skills and build on from the images they seen using their own ideas and imaginations. It was lovely to observe and listen to the children sharing their ideas with each other and using pretend role play to make meaning from their play.
08.01.2022 Early Childhood Educators Day What a super day! Celebrating the brilliant work that our Early Childhood Educators do every single day, in super hero style! We celebrated our Educators for their contribution to the well-being and healthy development of the young children in their care. In the Kindy room, each child stood up and told their friends what their super power was. This was a great way to include a sense of belonging into the room this morning. During activity time, Miss Lisa hung her super cape up and the kids stood under it pretending to be receiving super powers! We later played outside running around and using all the powers we had! This created a magical environment where the kids could role play and increase communication skills!
07.01.2022 Today we would like to welcome Miss Leanne to our team. Miss Leanne will be stepping into the Lead Educator role in the Toddler room. Miss Leanne will be working alongside Miss Zoe and Miss Anna will be recommencing her role in the Centre as the Educational Leader. Please introduce yourselves. Miss Leanne is super excited to start her journey with our team.... #QCCS #staffintroduction #welcome #lowood
07.01.2022 The weather is just perfect for camping, warm sunny days and cool nights around a campfire! The Kindy children today created a pretend camping scene in the outside area under the shade of a tree. They collected rocks to put in a circle, used red cellophane for their fire and molded clay into the shape of little marshmallows that they put on the end of sticks. While they sat around the fire, they told stories and sang songs. What a great way to incite communication sk...ills and make connections to real life situations. #camping #childcare #earlylearning #brisbane
07.01.2022 Today the Pre Kindy children participated in a volcano STEM science experiment. Miss Emma premade a volcano to show the children before allowing the children to create their own. The children used steady hands and eye hand coordination to slowly pour the ingredients into the bottle. It wasn't long before we started to see a reaction. #STEM #QCCS #volcanoes #childcare #experiments
06.01.2022 Toddlers Gardening Miss Anna encouraged each child to sit around her as she placed an egg carton that had been filled with dirt in front of them. Miss Anna explained that today we were going to plant beetroot seeds into the egg cartons so that we could watch them grow. One by one Miss Anna asked the children to hold out their hands so that they could be handed a beetroot seed. As the seeds were placed into the childrens hands they showed lots of interest in them investi...gating the feel and what it looked like. The children then placed their beetroot seed into the soil and covered the seed with some soil. We will encourage the children to care for these seeds by watering them each day, as they start the process in turning into a seedling. #gardening #earlylearning #QCCS #lowood #brisbanechildcare
05.01.2022 The Kindergarten children have been focusing on writing their name as we continue to develop their readiness for school. We were able to use the whiteboards to explore our fine motor skills and pencil control without fear of making a mistake. We were able to cater to the needs of each child as they were able to trace the letters if needed or use their name card to help recall the order of the letters in their name. We are exploring literacy as we look at the shape of the letters and the importance of placing them in the correct order. #finemotoractivity #brisbane #childcare #earlychildhood #schoolready
05.01.2022 We have been discussing sustainability in our room - this means talking about how we can be sustainable, do we reduce, re use and recycle everything that we can? We have started our adventure by re-using some old CD’s to create some awesome hangers for over our nappy change area as something fun and funky to look at! We would love to hear from YOU about some ideas or projects we can start to build our knowledge of sustainable practices. ... #sustainability #sustainablepractices #reduceandreuse #QCCS #lowoodeec
04.01.2022 What a great way to spend a Thursday...Fishing with friends. Today in the Kindy Room we worked on our hand-eye co-ordination with our new fishing experience. We took turns to cast out our line and hook a fish! All without touching the line. This was sometimes a little frustrating but, through persevering we were all able to catch our very own fish and share this achievement with all of our friends. #fishingexperience #QCCS #childcare #lowoodEEC
03.01.2022 Today the Pre-Kindy children used their creativity caps to create a wax painting. This activity challenged the children to use their strength and fine motor skills. Miss Emma encouraged the children to press firmly down on the candle to leave a wax print on the paper. Miss Emma explained to the children that we wouldnt be able to see the wax print until we paint over it. This created excitement among the children, who couldnt wait to see what they had made. #waxpainting #childcare #earlylearning #QCCS
03.01.2022 Hello Families! Check out our exciting Vacation Care Program for the upcoming Spring School Holidays!! If you are interested in booking your children in, please contact the Centre directly.
03.01.2022 The Kindergarten class understands the importance of Sun Safety. Before heading outside daily, we make sure we are wearing a sun safe hat and a sun safe t-shirt, with sleeves like our school shirt. We rub the sunscreen into our arms, legs and face until it is all gone. We are taking control of our health and well-being each day.
03.01.2022 Today there was a mini obstacle course set up for the children to explore, negotiate and conquer. The small A frame was set up with the wooden ladder for climbing, some cushions to crawl over and the tunnel the crawl through which challenged the children to take on new challenges and develop their motor movement skills. There were lots of squeals of excitement as the children explored with their peers. This experience helps to develop the children’s gross motor, balance, co...-ordination as they engage in enthusiastically participating in physical play. #babies #childcare #lowood #nursery #Earlychildhoodeducation #physicaldevelopment
03.01.2022 Being sustainable is fun! Miss Chany and some of the other children went on an adventure to find some materials that we could use to create some sustainable dancing streamers, they came back with pipe cleaners and material squares. We gathered around the table and got to work! There were long pieces of material that we tied on the pipe cleaners (with help from educators) and then twisted the ends to create a handheld steamer for dancing! Recycling old pieces of material into something new and exciting is a great way to encourage the children to be a little more sustainable. This way we are reducing waste, up-cycling and getting creative!
02.01.2022 We will remember them. #remembranceday #lestweforget #QCCS
02.01.2022 As we get closer to starting prep the Kindergarten children began to work on a book mark that we can use when we begin to read. We selected the different colour crepe paper we wished to use and carefully cut the shape. We were able to create unique patterns and designs. When we read our library books at home with our family we will be able to find our place with the help of our special book mark. #bookmarks #artsandcrafts #QCCS #reading
02.01.2022 Leo the Lion - A group time staple! The children of Pre-Kindy really enjoy singing and dancing along to their favourite nursery rhymes. Singing in group time encourages the children to build their confidence, improves literacy, numeracy, language skills and it is a way for children to learn about rhythm and tempo.
02.01.2022 Today we stand and wear white together, to show our support and respect for Child Protection Week. As a community and service we hold child protection close too our hearts. The children join in to show respect by flying white balloons high within the sky and creating a white balloon painting. The children created a white balloon painting too show their respect and will be displayed in our class room. The children were encouraged to press the balloon onto paper, creating a ...print. 01.01.2022 Play dough is a great way to develop our fine motor skills as we roll and squish it. We used the small animals to explore how fossils are made. We used our fine motor skills to push the animal carefully into the play dough before pulling it out carefully. We were able to see the shape of the body and legs created an imprint in our play dough. As we continued to explore we found that different animals left behind different impressions. #fossils #earlylearning #QCCS #lowoodchildcare #playdough
01.01.2022 This morning the Pre-Kindy children worked on their fine motor skills, by threading fruit onto the string. The children were encouraged to choose the fruit they would like to thread with, they then carefully threaded the fruit onto the string. This activity required the children to use their patience and persistent and extend on their hand eye coordination #finemotoractivity #ealrychildhood #childcare ##brisbane
01.01.2022 The Kindergarten children enjoyed listening to The Rainbow Serpent Dreaming Story on the interactive tv. The Rainbow Serpent in Aboriginal society represents one of the great and powerful forces of nature and spirit. Connected to water, the Rainbow Serpent is the great life giver, and protector of water, which is his spiritual home. We used string to create the shape and design of our own rainbow serpent before creating the different colours using recycled bottle lids. This will help us to remember the story and all it represents.
