Congratulations and well done to everyone who has been involved - we know the users of the Rail Trail corridor will appreciate this new addition.

23.01.2022 Thanks Councillor Cheryl Gaedtke for a strong Somerset Region for these wonderful photos from the official opening of the new shade shelter on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at the corner of Reinbotts Road in Lowood. The weather could not have been better for the opening which saw many local dignitaries and volunteers - including our Community Branch Chairman Keith Manz and Community Branch Manager Caroline Bradley - in attendance. Congratulations to West Moreton Landcare and Pete's Hobby Nursery on completing these improvements - we know that everyone who uses the Rail Trail will appreciate this most recent addition.

Today for "Show & Tell" the same talented gentleman shared with us his latest craft pieces - this time of photo images displayed on lovely pieces of rock fossicked once again from Cloncurry! The images are painstakingly cut with a stanley knife, applied to the rocks then finished with a high gloss sealant - we have some very talented crafts people in our community!!!

06.01.2022 The wet morning did not deter 29 enthusiastic young adults and our very special guest, Piggy, from attending the much anticipated safe driver course conducted by SDT Safe Drive Training at their training complex at Willowbank. Our sincere thanks to the cluster group of Community Bank branches at Lowood & Fernvale, Kalbar, Rosewood, Stanthorpe and South Burnett for funding this subsidized course, to the parents and family members who have devoted the time to transport the part...icipants to the venue, all of the WONDERFUL staff at SDT Safe Drive Training and finally to Jean Bray for the hours of work she put into organizing everything. Last, but by no means least, thank you and congratulations to the 125 participants whom we have assisted in completing the course over the time we have been involved. 04.01.2022 Our Community Bank recently coordinated with SDT Safe Drive Training to offer a 5th Safe Driver training course at Willowbank for young drivers with their learners permits or probationary drivers licences. These courses have been jointly sponsored by Lowood & Fernvale Branch and the Community Bank Branches of Rosewood, Kalbar, Nanango, Yarraman and Stanthorpe. Chairman of the Lowood & Fernvale Community Bank, Keith Manz, recently said We strongly believe in the need to h...elp young people gain the necessary skills to remain safe on both our city and country roads. Our communities are not immune from the traumas of road accidents on local families." A total of 125 young drivers from across the region have now taken the opportunity to strengthen their driving capabilities on wet and dry roads. Our very special guest, Piggy, was in attendance at the most recent course to watch proceedings and offer a thumbs up as the first few drivers took to the wheel. At the conclusion of the course, all 28 course participants were presented with a gift bag that included a special tyre gauge to remind them of the importance of regularly checking the tyre pressure on their vehicles.
