21.01.2022 Unveiling of the WWII Avro Anson Crash Memorial at Loxton In September 1943, during a night training exercise from Nhill, a tragic crash of an Avro Anson occurr...ed at Noora, east of Loxton. The crash killed all four crew members. Loxton community volunteers will shortly complete a permanent memorial to the loss of the crew, having undertaken the construction a quarter size scale model of the crashed Avro atop a five-metre tower. The memorial will be located at the Mill Corner precinct, adjacent the Loxton Oval, at the northern entrance to Loxton. RSA Club members and the general public are invited to join in the opening of the memorial to commemorate those who gave their lives in service of our country. The service will commence at 2:30pm, Sunday September 20. See more

Michael's new Southern Sun flying boat is expected to d...epart London in late October and land in Darwin on 10 December at 3.45pm, exactly 100 years after the Smith brothers landed their Vicker’s Vimy which led to the birth of the Kangaroo Route and international airmail. Michael, named Australian Geographic's Adventurer of the Year in 2016 after his solo circumnavigation of the globe, is also planning to visit Adelaide in the new Southern Sun next March to celebrate the centenary of the Smith crew's victorious homecoming.
