01.01.2022 A reminder that you are not weak , you are not silly . If you are feeling anxious , low mood or depressed and hopeless right your feelings are valid . Please do...n’t dismiss them uncertainty causes anxiety , the idea that there is something out there that you can’t control can cause you to feel out of control which can lead to hopelessness . I have caught my self the last three days waking up in mini anxiety attacks because I’m unsettled and that happens whenever my security is threatened . I had to remind myself this morning that I have gotten through this before and I will now too . So what should you be doing ? Here are some tips to prevent the dark room as I like to call it . 1) Get your support right : If you have been suffering with anxiety or depression for a while you know now what it looks like when it’s coming , you know the signs . So start putting your support system in to play if it’s communicating to friends please do so , if it’s booking a therapy session (online only please ) do so . 2) Prevention is better than cure : Start placing boundaries or implementing the strategies you have been using before to make sure you can keep yourself afloat . Like a routine ? Challenges to do everyday ? Journaling your feelings right now ? 3) Get honest : This is not the time to bottle things up it won’t do you any good . Communicate your current state of wellbeing honestly to your self or to those you trust around you if you are stressed please call it that don’t down play it down with oh well it’s okay we are going to be fine . Unfortunately because this is a global situations responses from people are exaggerated .Everyone is in fight or flight mode and people respond to situations differently so you can’t and won’t respond the same to everyone . By that I mean : There are people that are realists sometimes they can feel a little too realistic but they are the black and white kind of people , right now they are either viewing this as oh god we are going to die or we are fine this is stupid nothing is going on these people are not right or wrong it’s just how they view the world , it’s just their response to threatening situations . Then there are those that ride of the positive vibe they are in denial of the reality of the situation so they would rather stick to everything is fine don’t worry that’s feels nice but it’s also not realistic because everything is not fine and we should worry but in balance , don’t dare say anything outside of that to them because they will not stand your negativity . Once again they are not right or wrong it’s just their response . What we want is to try not to get into conversations with those people because your feelings will be dismissed you will probably feel worse after talking to them . You want to have a subjective response and be surrounded by the same . People who can admit that this sucks and they too are worried but also point out how to get through it effectively . At the end of the day we are going to get through this and sure we might not even like what getting through this looks like but if we manage ourselves well enough we will be fine . So please be honest with yourself this is impacting more than just our money or social life but our Mental Health . Please stay safe x
