25.01.2022 When we bring in a new horse or pony, we must be patient! So many animals advertised as ‘well broke’ do not make the transition to new ownership all that easi...ly. Heck, I've purchased animals who take close to a year to settle in and surprisingly, the ones described as ‘friendly’ can take it hardest of all. These are the ones who really bond with their people and changing hands is hard for them. Even a quiet horse or pony can suddenly become spooky, hard to catch, or a halter puller upon arrival. I can only recommend that when a new ride is purchased, sign up for a few lessons from the seller or former trainer, if qualified. Better yet, get yourself and your new horse into lessons with your regular coach. Waiting for things to be perfect is usually counterproductive. So, we get to work straightaway but we don’t expect perfection. We might note what we’d like to change or improve upon, but we refrain from immediately ‘remaking’ the new horse. Human nature has a hard time with waiting for gradual change to happen, so be warned. Some horses make the leap to their new lives with gusto, others grow homesick and troubled and some, we discover, were never all that well broke, to begin with. The trick is in knowing what's what! Finally, please remember that homesickness has no bearing on how much schooling a horse has, or has not received. If we were talking about children, we’d know instinctively that a complete change in homes and routines would be an emotional rollercoaster. I’ve often thought that handling horses is little different from raising kids... #loveandrules

He is available for adoption and would suit a home where he can be a loving companion. Due to his old injury he... is unfit for riding but completely paddock sound. 08.01.2022 Horse riding helps me still feel like me. Theresa wasn’t into crossword puzzles, so she took up horse riding to pick up the pace for her brain and her body. It’s things like this that keep Theresa strong and make living with dementia a little easier.

05.01.2022 Our poor sweet ARIA is having a tough time. ARIA went to our vets Windarra Park Vet Clinic this week for a check up as I was a little concerned regarding her behaviour and the fact that she was'nt gaining weight as fast as I would normally see. She had her teeth done which were already pretty good so it was obviously not the cause of her weight issue, so with consultation with the vet we decided to scope her and see if there was an internal issue causing dramas. Her scope s...howed that poor ARIA has grade 4 ulcers, some of the worst the vet has ever seen. She will now be treated with medication for the next 4 weeks and then rescoped to see if it is working. None of this treatment is cheap of course but we always do what is required to make a horse happy and healthy the pain poor ARIA would of been living with is unacceptable. If you would like to help contribute to ARIAs recovery plz donate either directly to us or to Windarra Park. Bank Details Lincoln Park Horse and Human Rehabilitation Centre BSB 633 000 Acc 164219297

04.01.2022 I was pulled from my field, from my work, from my play, Ne'er again to see England, in lands far away, Through death and destruction, through blood sweat and tears, I carried my master, along with my peers, So I ask you to remember a while,... Along with the soldiers, in smart rank and file, Remember our beauty, the strength of our kind, As we galloped through danger, without care to mind, For we were the horses thrust into war, And we gave up our lives for your peace evermore. The War Horse, 1914 - 1918

03.01.2022 Who remembers these cuties? COOPER and TOBY have returned to us. Both are 8yrs old, TB, geldings and best of mates.... All of our adopted horses leave with a contract that if for any reason they can no longer be kept they are to return to us. This allows us to be able to ensure they are always safe. If you would like to sponsor either of these boys plz pm us.

02.01.2022 Big thank yous to Racheal, Bronnie and Karen for donations of hay over the last few days. With extra mouths to feed and a big vet bill this has certainly helped.
