25.01.2022 Lord, give me the patience needed to serve everyone as my own; the wisdom to understand other's feelings; the knowledge to learn as well as to instruct; the kindness to treat everyone equally at all times; the strength to endure long hours and hard work;... the desire to serve others as I would my own family; the humility to accept words of thanks and praise; the compassion to touch another's soul; the pride and the right to smile when I have served a family well; and Lord, most importantly the right to shed an honest tear when my heart is touched; Lord, make me thankful that I am a Funeral Director.

20.01.2022 Five fast facts - Getting to Know Katrina Killick 1.If I wasn't a Funeral Director I'd probably be: A: Something to do with making music, an entertainer maybe and a Mum... 2.If you could be a fictional character who would you choose: A: I read so many books when I was younger and loved so many characters, Pippi Longstocking struck a chord with me because she was unconventional, playful and unpredictable, she had her own style and didn’t give it a second thought, in some ways she is the complete opposite to me. 3. What does a typical day look like for you: A: Get up at about 6.30, shower, breakfast then head into the office. Open up, turn everything on and have a cup of tea (first of several for the day). Check the days lists for funerals, create multimedia for funerals, complete administration tasks, follow up accounting for the accounts lady and accountant, make sure everything is ready for funeral services, help prepare the hearse for service, pick up flowers when needed. Head home and ensure our son has completed his schoolwork for the day and help him complete things he needs help with (our son is homeschooled). Complete home duties and have dinner with the family, relax as much as I can and spend time with our children catching up with them after they’ve been at work, and out during the day. 4. Tell us three things most people don't know about you: * I met Jason when I was 13 * I was raised singing Country Music from the age of 3 * I can’t play an instrument to save my life, even though I was a singer from an early age. 5. What's your greatest achievement so far? A: My family by far! I married my Prince Charming who helps me when I need it and together we have four amazing children of whom we are very proud of and love each of them unconditionally. My parents separated and divorced when I was young, being 1 of 4 girls, we were divided between our parents and I stayed with my dad and 1 of my sisters, we did all come back together after a while and this experience is why my family is very important to me and I try to ensure my children get 100% from me and I support them with all I have to see them achieve their dreams and goals

08.01.2022 As funeral directors, it’s a very deep honour to care for our little angels. We find that we slow things right down. Often a gentle quiet permeates the building when we know a young person is with us. We find that once we wash a baby or child, we cradle them, just a moment longer before we place them into their casket. We empathise with the parents and families, and we ourselves will sometimes find ourselves grieving for the loss of a young person who we probably didn’t even know. When we are called to care for a young person, it truly is a blessing.
