22.01.2022 Tonight we light the night in a very different way. The lantern lighting ceremony is a virtual ceremony broadcast by The Leukaemia Foundation and will be taking place at 8pm. If you have signed up with the Foundation you will be sent a link via text or email. My family and I will be at Central Park Aveley at the grassed area near the gazebo from 6pm with our lanterns. We are taking some kids games and a picnic and we invite you to come and join us.... I'll have a few spare lanterns if anyone would like to purchase one. Of course, you are not under any obligation to buy one. We simply would love you to come and say G'day. It's going to be a very casual gathering and we may light our lanterns early as we will have small kids with us that may get bored/tired/impatient. Please note there are no public toilets at the park, the nearest ones are at IGA. There are free barbecues for use and water fountains and of course the fabulous playground. 07.01.2022 * LIGHT THE NIGHT AVELEY 2020 * Our Light The Night gathering at Central Park, Aveley will be much smaller this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Whilst WA has fared better and gatherings of less than 500 people are permitted, other states have not been so lucky. Therefore, the Leukaemia Foundation decided to cancel all events for 2020. Of course, this has significantly impacted on their fundraising. The Foundation has lost millions of dollars in donations through 2020. H...ere at Team Aveley, we will do our best to raise as much as we can this year and hopefully, make up for lost opportunities in 2021. So this Saturday 10th October, my little family and I will be at Central Park from 6pm with some lanterns, chairs, a picnic blanket, a picnic and some beautiful music. A virtual lantern ceremony will be broadcast by the Leukaemia Foundation, so when the sun sets, we will light our lanterns with the rest of WA. I will have some spare blue and yellow lanterns for sale if you would like to purchase one. We would love for you to pop over to say Hello and stay for a chat if you can.
