15.01.2022 Police will be able to use the Public Health Act 2010 to enforce stricter lockdown orders. The Act provides that a person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with such a direction or order, faces a maximum penalty of 6 months in prison and/or a fine of $11,000. Any continued failure to comply is punishable by a fine of $5,500, for each day the offence continues. The maximum penalty for companies is a fine of $55,000, and $27,500 for each day the offence continu...es. Just in case you weren’t taking this seriously. Be safe. Be smart. Be kind. And stay home if at all possible.
