13.01.2022 The Mickey Thompson New Zealand Stadium Offroad Championship 2021 is incredibly grateful to ORANZ (the Offroad Racing Association of New Zealand) for granting u...s an NZ title for our event. This means a lot to the credibility of the event with our sponsors, drivers and fans. It also means a lot to the club CMORC (Counties Manukau Offroad Racing Club), Auckland Council and the Event Promotors. The Manukau International Offroad Stadium has been the reason CMORC and Kevin Hall have been doggedly dedicated to the cause of staying the distance with Auckland Council in the establishment of a Motorsports Park in Manukau. It’s been a long journey and this event will take our sport to the next level. With a lot of time on our hands during the COVID 19 lockdown we started dreaming up this event. Initially it was going to be a Shortcourse stadium tour, but that wasn’t going to work, so we changed our planning. When ORANZ came on board we acted very quickly to get dates for two events without too many days between them. We wanted to have dates close together to allow any race team that was travelling a great distance the opportunity to Race both events before shipping the race car home. We think this is a concept that should work well for lower North Island racers, South Island racers and, in future years, international racers. This requirement to have two major events at one venue does put pressure on racers and other events, and we do apologise to Waikato Offroad Racing Club, in particular, as our event has effected the planning of their round of the National series. We have been in contact with Waikato’s club president, Colin Meredith, and we are working with them to make sure that Offroad Racing benefits from an exciting start to the 2021 racing season. Our ambition is to grow the sports fan base and we will be promoting the ORANZ National Series events, with a focus on the Waikato round at our event. To benefit race drivers the Early Bird Entry Fee for each of the Mickey Thompson New Zealand Stadium Offroad Championship 2021 events is set at $150+gst. The Early Bird fee will be available through to the end of November 2020. To benefit the sport we are advertising Mickey Thompson New Zealand Stadium Offroad Championship 2021 on TV, facebook and on our website. There will be two, hour long, TV Sport shows produced that will initially be aired on CRC Motorsport on TV3 and later broadcast to a global audience via Fox Sports, Lucas Oil TV and YouTube. A second TV Production crew will also be active making a TV show for RedBull TV. This coverage will follow the adventures of RedBull sponsored racer, Mad Mike Whiddett, who will be racing in the Cooper Tires ProLite group. The promotion and the TV coverage will be the most extensive our sport has received in New Zealand. We want you all to come along for the ride in 2021. Race two events in Manukau, then race the first round of the Nationals in Waikato and get your season flying. Prepare your race cars. Get your sponsors excited about getting their brands exposure to a large TV audience and a big crowd. Get ready for a great racing season in 2021.
