23.01.2022 [School Readiness Classes] Hello everyone! Glad to be back.......we have been very busy at Little Learners. There is always a lot of play activity going on. I will share our favourites with you this week to give you a peek at what we have accomplished in our mathnasium classes so far! All our math tasks as you can see are hands on and multisensory.......... My favourite was using a simple coat hanger and plastic cups and some string to make a homemade scale. This one is easy to make at home......

22.01.2022 [Lucia's Little Learners School Readiness Classes] What a great week it's been. We worked on our letter "Rr" this week and we had loads of fun. Our shape for Mathnasium was the rectangle and Rapunzel was our storybook for Reading Corner. These are our pictures of our rectangle robots and our ribbon rectangles. We found out that rectangles are special because they have two long and two short sides. Next lesson its Christmas theme........must decorate the centre! Can't wait. Lucia

21.01.2022 Welcome to lucia's little learners. I am so excited... it has taken me many years of wanting to do this and can't believe its happening. I will be running classes from ABC plaza, shop 5, 60 North East Rd. at Walkerville during the day. Tutopia tutoring is at the same premises and starts from 3:30. I will be running classes such as "Sounds Alive" , "Mathnasium , Reading Corner and IT for tots. 19.01.2022 {School Readiness Classes} Happy Easter Everybody! The Easter Bunny DID come and visit us at Lucia's Little Learners. We had a great time doing some Easter craft. We made our own Easter baskets. We played an Italian Easter game called "Pasqualino" and sang the song "Hot Cross Buns" with some hand held instruments. THE highlight was the squeals of excitement on the Easter Egg hunt. There is nothing more delightful than listening to children laughing and having fun. 17.01.2022 [School Readiness Classes] I just wanted to share some findings from studies which have been conducted in regards to school readiness and Kindergarten entry. (Indicator of the month taken from http://www.gettingready.org/) Why is School Readiness Important? ... Language proficiency is a key predictor of school success. Early literacy skills (size of vocabulary, recognizing letters, understanding letter and sound relationships) at kindergarten entry are good predictors of children's reading abilities throughout their educational careers. Language and literacy skills enable children to develop cognitive skills and knowledge and to interact effectively with peers and adults. 15.01.2022 Lucia's Little Learners [School Readiness Classes] The letter O this week was yummy! We got to taste Oreo's and Oranges and we used Fruit Loops (they're liitle O's) to decorate our octopus tentacles. In maths we graphed our zip lock bag of fruit loops and made an Octagon monster. Owlbert was our reading corner story this week and we made an owl puppet called Owlbert too. Well done Little Learners!!!

15.01.2022 [Lucia's Little Learners School Readiness Classes] At Lucia's we practice our cutting skills every lesson with lots of different types of materials and thickness of paper. Here are some great ideas to support your little learner at home..... Purchase a good pair of child-safe scissors and let your child practice. Give her/him old magazines or newspapers to cut up, or allow her/him to make a collage of the things she/he likes by cutting them from magazines and gluing them... to a piece of paper. Cutting play dough is also fun for children The cutting bowls in the article below are a good idea and easy enough to try at home too. See more

07.01.2022 [School Readiness Classes] Snails,skeletons, apples,plants, string telephones and playing with the magic sand.....lots of fun and engaging activities. The little learners were fascinated with the string telephones and the snails were a hit too. Each week is a different letter and theme and new learning possibilities too.....

07.01.2022 {School Readiness Classes} Well it was our last week of lessons this week and it was so much fun celebrating Christmas! By far the childrens favourite activity was making the "magic reindeer food". They had to count their spoonfuls of ingredients and mix and fill and staple. We made Jingle Bell bracelets so we could sing Jingle Bells louder and playdough was a hit using the christmas themed cookie cutters from the cheap shop. 06.01.2022 Feeling blessed this week as we ran our first classes of Lucia's Little Learners. The children were absolutely wonderful and made our job of teaching so enjoyable. 06.01.2022 {School Readiness Classes} Happy Fathers Day to all our dads for yesterday. Hope your were all thoroughly spoilt. The little learners had so much fun making your gifts last week but we couldn't post it or else we would spoil the surprise. We hope you liked the apricot balls we made and your new ties as well as "My dad is a Hero" poster. It was our letter Cc lesson too, decorated cupcakes and made some cubes with our connecter straws. There was so much to do........
