25.01.2022 Don't be afraid to ask your trainer these questions.

24.01.2022 A great article, well worth a read.

24.01.2022 Happy new year all Here’s hoping everyone and all your dogs enjoy New Years Eve. Here are a few simple tips that may keep them happier if you are going out tonight. If possible walk your dogs early evening just before you go out. Leave extra water out tonight.... Close all your windows doors and blinds. Leave air-con on if possible. Leave some background music on ( make sure it’s not a tv or radio station that are broadcasting the fireworks) Don’t make a fuss when you leave you’ll be back in a minute Have a great night all and give them lots of love when you get home See more

18.01.2022 It was so sad to say goodbye to Phoenix last week, he was a German Shepherd with a special story. My heart goes out Renee and Bob his owners who could not have given him any more love and care than they did. Phoenix’s Story. I first met Phoenix a few years ago when his owner called me because he had some behavioural issues whilst out walking and meeting other dogs. We soon discovered that Phoenix was very excited when he met dogs but meant them no harm. However, because of h...is size and excited high energy level he did tend to scare most dogs and sometimes people off. Buster, our little Cavalier was never scared of Phoenix, he knew Phoenix was not aggressive and once Phoenix learnt to approach Buster a little gentler, Buster loved to play and be with him. Eventually after a lot meetings and walks with Buster, Phoenix got so good at the gentle approach that when I met owners with nervous small dogs we got Phoenix to go out with them. Some of these meetings were the most rewarding things to witness, not only for the small dogs that gained so much confidence just being around Phoenix, but also for Phoenix who just loved being around all of the dogs. I walked Phoenix five days a week with so many different dogs over the last few years including one very special Golden Labrador called Elka, he loved to just run around with her sharing a stick, when she was on the beach he only had eyes for her, do have a look at their photos. Buster misses his big play mate as do I when I look around for Phoenix, who did the job of checking that all the dogs were leaving the beach together as only shepherds can do. R.I.P. big fella. 17.01.2022 Yesterday I attended the Making Dogs Happy Symposium organised by APDT Australia. And yes I also bought the book as two of the speakers, Dr. Melissa Starling and Prof. Paul McGreevy the authors, were very impressive with their scientific knowledge and behaviour work with this creature we have shared our lives with for some 18,000 years now. One of the messages I got from attending this was the need for more data on how we as dog owners care for them, and how everyone can g...et involved in this by downloading a free app called Doglogbook. Just go to www.doglogbook.com This app will help you to recognise and meet your dogs needs and also give researchers the valuable data they need to help us all improve the welfare of our favourite pet. All of the speakers were very good and obviously passionate about their subject, Lauren Powell spoke about the possible role of oxytocin which is produced in both human and dog brains when we interact, which I found particularly interesting as this could potentially be used reduce aggressive behaviour. Other speakers included Prof. Manos Stamatakis Dr. Elizabeth Arnott Dr. Elyssa Payne And Sophie Masters who is the project manager for the app doglogbook. See more

06.01.2022 This beautiful girl is Indie who has been with us for a few weeks now as her owners are over seas. For some reason that I can not fathom I can’t send them photos properly through messenger so I’m hoping they get to see this post so they know their girl is happy with her mates.

05.01.2022 Hello everyone and hope you are all ok in these very strange times. Hopefully it won’t be too long before Buster gets to go for a walk with all his mates again but for now he has been trying to talk to us on the beach when we are holding on to his stick to long Be safe all.
