It is a small family run winery, established in 1982 by Robert and Vivienne Ritchie and now run by their son David, with the assistance of winemaker Andy Browning. 24.01.2022 Our built heritage is under threat! Sadly another current example is ‘THE RIVER PAVILION’, Northcote. Originally commissioned by the City of Northcote as a faci...lity to support the adjacent amphitheatre. Completed by Dennis Carter & Paul Couch of Carter Couch in the 1980s, it is an important public work by this practice. Paul Couch worked alongside Robin Boyd for many years and was involved in some of Australia’s most significant Modern buildings. The River Pavilion is located between the Fairfield Amphitheatre & the Pipe Bridge in Fairfield Park, have a look if you are in the area. This is a beautiful part of the river & it is easy to see what damage would be done by replacing a public lookout with a storage shed. Given the current Covid situation we will need sheltered outdoor public spaces more than ever. The Former Boyd House was classified by the National Trust as a place of State significance in 1987, and added to the Victorian Heritage Register in 1991. Designed by Robin, it was Robin and Patricia family home from 1947-57. The Executive Director of Heritage Victoria has assessed the request, and recommended that the housenotbe removed from the Register. This recommendation is open for public consultation untilMonday 14 September. Key viewing points from the lane and adjacent park informed the scale, form and articulation of the facade. A new split level bedroom wing is cocooned within the contemporary addition. The new @delatitewines Cellar Door building will be surrounded by expansive decks linked with landscaped courtyards and terraces designed by @tommys.garden.tours Timbercrete walls will extend into the landscape punctuated with openings to provide curated views through and across the building and surrounding vines. Landscape Architecture @tommys.garden.tours Builder @craigeaston.co From www.delatitewinery.com.au @delatitewines In 1968 Robert and Vivienne heeded the advice of one of the most eminent winemakers from the Barossa Valley, Jim Irvine, and planted what was probably the first cool climate vineyard in Australia on the steep hills overlooking the mountains. From 1974 through to 1981 they sold these grapes to Brown Brothers at Milawa who were so impressed by the quality and individuality of the different varieties that they made and bottled them under a separate and special Delatite Individual Vineyard’ range of very limited release wines. In 1981, given the quality of these wines, they enlisted the help of Dr Tony Jordan and Brian Croser to design a small winery and provide consulting advice on winemaking. 14.01.2022 Façade detail: fabulous to see #lcajacoby is nearing completion! With a subtle crank in plan the facade follows the curve of the rear lane and overhangs the green plunge pool below. A large timber window shroud is carefully designed to prevent overlooking to neighbouring properties and provide a picture window into the adjacent park.
