18.01.2022 Hammering was introduced today follwing a risk assessment with the children. Children were very careful with the hammers and wore safety glasses. This is a great activity for improving eye hand coordination, fine motor skills and hand and upper body strength. Thanks to staff at Bunnings in Kent Town for kindly cutting the wood into managable pieces.

11.01.2022 Sand and water play has been so popular this week with many opportunities to use the senses, imagine, experiment, create and learn.
11.01.2022 Many children will be aware of Google maps, but it was an old street directory and a couple of printed maps that interested the children. Here are some of the maps that were drawn this week.
10.01.2022 After weeks of closure, we were delighted to welcome back some very excited occasional care children!!
09.01.2022 Recent overseas events have underlined the importance of adults modelling tolerence, respect and empathy. At kindergarten we talk about fairness in play and encourage kindness, helpfulness and thoughtfulness. By exploring self identity and difference with the children, we help them on their journey to understanding and appreciating the rich diversity of the world.
09.01.2022 Such an amazing contributer to childrens literature. I love Mem Fox. #memfox #nurseryrhymes #children #literature
08.01.2022 Some of the children have a fascination with volcanos...making them in the sandpit and with boxes. Yesterday we made our own erupting volcano in the sandpit, with vinegar and bicarb soda. A simple but effective science experiment that is always a winner!
07.01.2022 Drawing is a form of communication which also calls on problem solving skills, as children work out how to best represent what they see. Tadpole art has been enjoyed by both groups this week.
07.01.2022 Term 3 has begun well. Thanks to everyone for your cooperation in regards to COVID safe drop off and pick up.
07.01.2022 ..and here we are at the end of a busy term, in what has been an unusual year! Thank you to those families who have sent kind words of support. We take much pleasure in planning and providing quality learning experiences within our play based program. From tapoles to Dancify, maps, story tables, book making, aboriginal art and music to having fun with rhyme. Children have been supported to take care of their bodies and to practice self regulation. Perhaps the biggest achievement is the growth in childrens confidence and independence . Please check your emails for further information.
06.01.2022 Life is Better When you Dance!! A little sun , a little wind and some fancy new scarves, added an extra sparkle to the first day of spring .
06.01.2022 Paintings by aboriginal artists inspired some of the children

06.01.2022 Dental Health Week last week, led to discussions about the excitment of losing baby teeth and teeth cleaning. Drawing food and sugar on these lamininated teeth and then scrubbing it off with a tooth brush really appealed to the children!! Thanks Lockleys kindergarten for the idea.
05.01.2022 Every child has a learning folder which contains examples of their work, and photographs . Children take great pleasure in regularly revisiting their folders, and sharing them with friends.
04.01.2022 It was the perfect day for the green groups trip to the Festival Theatre. "Me and My Shadow" was a lively colourful, and engaging show about a girl making friends with her shadow. It held the childrens attention for the full 40 minutes... and of course the bus ride is always a winner!
04.01.2022 We will build our term 3 program around this framework.
03.01.2022 Most definitely! (via Backwoods Mama)
03.01.2022 Through book making, children show us that they understand writing has a purpose and that letters and words mean something. Random marks and scribbles in their made books later give way to letter - like forms and strings of letters. Children enjoy "reading" their books to educators and each other. Some children will begin to experiment with letters and sounds. Early writing attempts in kindergarten will lead to learning conventional writing, sentences and spelling at school.
