24.01.2022 Shout out to this amazing woman Vanessa Lowe and her incredible team of volunteers. Thank you to everyone sharing hope and helping save lives #comewalkwithme #ruokday

19.01.2022 Christmas and holiday season usually sees an increase in domestic and family violence. Let’s all say #NoMore and remember to always treat our partners and families with respect, and look after one another. If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, call 1800RESPECT . If anyone is in immediate danger call 000.

17.01.2022 The Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) refuses to confirm whether Treasury has conducted modelling on how many jobs will be lost because of his scheduled #Jobkeeper wind-down in 8 days. That is incredibly worrying, analysts fear it will be in the hundreds of thousands of jobs.

17.01.2022 It’s mango season, anyone looking for work get in touch with @ntfarmers

17.01.2022 This is a summary of the spin, misinformation and incompetence coming from the Morrison Government regarding the vaccine rollout. They should just tell the truth and do their jobs.

16.01.2022 The PM was dragged into introducing #JobKeeper in the first place and now he is cutting it - at exactly the wrong time. This will take #jobs and tens of million$ out of the Territory economy in the months leading up to Christmas #Jobkeeper not Scomo’s #Jobkiller

14.01.2022 Had a #SWELL morning catching up with Athina Pascoe-Bell, Mayor City of Palmerston. #SWELL is a great initiative launched by the City of Palmerston today to redevelop the Palmerston Swimming & Fitness Centre. Check out the #SWELL fly through video here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=SSt2YshbCfE

13.01.2022 WOTWW is only 4 Weeks away! Have you registered for this awesome event yet? Registrations are essential: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/2021-darwin-walking-off-the

13.01.2022 Timor-Leste is a country very close to my heart. They're suffering terribly with these devastating floods. I'm quoted in the below story, saying Australia can and should do more to help one of our nearest neighbours in their moment of need. Dollars are the best assistance we can send, so local organisations can distribute aid. ... Caritas are on the ground in Dili and have initiated a fund for those wanting to assist with the response: https://www.caritas.org.au//emergen/asia-emergency-appeal/

12.01.2022 If you can’t be in #Darwin you might as well be cold #cradlemountain

12.01.2022 A homeless man walked into Vinnies and asked for help, he knew he was very ill, that he was dying. Vinnies staff called an Ambulance, started CPR and cared for him but the gentleman passed before arriving at Royal Darwin. After investigations it was clear that he wouldn’t have any family at his funeral so we attended St Marys today for his funeral. For me it was a special way to be finishing 2020, in solidarity with others and respecting someone we didn’t know. Then I not...iced the Fire engine in the background of this pic and remembered not only the firefighters but all those who worked for others as we confronted difficult times this year. To all those who worked on the frontline this year and for everyone who acted for others - Thankyou! From my family to you and yours - Happy New Year.

12.01.2022 Great to catch up with Frank Miller, President of the Forrestry Industry Association of the NT #FIANT who with the NT Farmers Association is working to grow the industry. #TopEndHub Senator Jonathon Duniam

11.01.2022 Using the pandemic as cover, Qantas are throwing their 65 Territory ground staff under a bus to hire a cheaper casualised workforce from a foreign owned company. #thespiritofaustralia Their workers are also owed thousands of dollars in backpay after a court held the airline had been misusing JobKeeper in a way that has meant it is pocketing parts of the wage subsidy. The CEO gets paid $15,000 an hour. He could personally pay all Territory ground staff and still be on $20 million a year. That’s the #thespiritofaustralia

10.01.2022 Last month I attended the Girls Academy’s graduation event at Palmerston Senior College. It was a fantastic and inspirational evening. The GA staff have done an excellent job, delivering strong results. The Federal Government have announced that they are not renewing the funding for the Girls Academy programs - nationwide. The Territory staff were informed of this over Christmas which has meant stress and disappointment after a difficult 2020. The Federal Government must ...now ensure that these valuable staff are offered positions with the new provider. I understand that it is likely that the Stars Foundation, (who also run girls school programs in the NT), will transition to run those GA programs. Stars are a great organisation and I am sure they will work hard to ensure a smooth and fair transition process. Thank you to those who have raised this issue with me. These staff have done a great job and they and the students deserve certainty about their future.

09.01.2022 19,522 Territory workers and the businesses they work for, will lose $8.5 million a fortnight in #JobKeeper payments from September 28. The Federal Coalition is cutting this vital support to businesses and workers at exactly the wrong time. The #JobKeeper Payment is designed to help businesses affected by the Coronavirus to cover the costs of their employees' wages, so that more employees can retain their job and continue to earn an income. The #JobKeeper Payment is a temporary scheme but we are in a National recession and in the NT going into the quieter wet season. This is exactly the wrong time for the federeral Government to be cutting support.

09.01.2022 It was a very proud moment to witness when Acting City of Darwin Lord Mayor Peter Pangquee, a First Nations man from the Territory, conducted his first citizenship ceremony, including the Tong Family (see pic).

08.01.2022 Great to commemorate the 21 year anniversary of #INTERFET with these & so many other legends in #DarwinNT

07.01.2022 Only a third of #JobKeeper users will be eligible after next week's program cuts. Many SME Businesses are still hurting, particularly tourism and hospitality, yet the Coalition Federal Government’s plan is to rip away support and bring in tax cuts for high income earners... #Typical.

07.01.2022 Final rehearsal for the commemoration of 21 years since #INTERFET. Start time is 10.45am tomorrow morning at the Darwin Cenotaph. Thanks to all the organisers including these Tiger that will be flying over.

06.01.2022 Merry Christmas Everyone

05.01.2022 Our near neighbours in Timor-Leste and Eastern Indonesia are experiencing massive flooding due to days of torrential rain. And to be dealing with this during Easter is particularly sad. Thinking of everyone in the effected areas and am seeking how Australia can help Timor-Leste Embassy Canberra

04.01.2022 We just had another great weekend in the #TopEnd and I’ve put this video together to show just some of the experiences up #North and info about the newly launched #NTSummerTourismVouchers If you’re an Aussie that’s not from a hotspot you can get $200 off every $1000 spent on an NT booking made through all the usual Australian shop front travel retailers (up to a maximum of $1000 discount) from 1st October to 31st March 2021. 04.01.2022 To all of our friends in #Bali Hari Raya Galungan! This is a very sacred day on the Balinese religious calendar and even with COVID the penjors are up over the streets & entrance ways and incense is burning. Blessings to the people of Bali, we are thinking of you

03.01.2022 In #Palmerston this morning we paused to remember the #peacekeepers whether they be Police, ADF or civilian peacekeepers. In #Darwin this Saturday we will gather at the cenotaph at 11am to recognise those that went to East Timor 21 years ago with #INTERFET. All welcome. Thankyou to the Darwin & Districts Pipes & Drums for being there today. Maybe it’s my part-Scottish heritage but I do love them so.

03.01.2022 I’ve been working to get #strandedTerritorians back home. There are so many still stuck but at least this one is on their way home

03.01.2022 Today is #dogsinpoliticsday so I had to post a pic of my favourite Lab in the Quinton. Good Dog . Animal Assisted . Therapy Dog Services. My Dad #JohnnyG has dedicated his working life to helping people by training them with Guide Dogs Victoria. It’s an incredible bond, dogs are the best!

03.01.2022 Great to be back in the Mix 104.9 studio with Katie Woolf talking about the Timor floods and what Aussies can do to help. #Caritas are a great on-the-ground organisation collecting funds and distributing aid. If you're thinking about donating, please do: https://www.caritas.org.au/timor-leste-and-indonesian-floo/

02.01.2022 Today in #DarwinNT we commemorated 21 years since INTERFET. A short video to mark the occasion.

02.01.2022 New research shows that 1 in 9 Australian women have been diagnosed with #endometriosis before the age of 44. These stats are much higher than previously understood and it is now recognised that at least 11% of women have #endometriosis. *If you know 9 women, you know #endo. For further information see in comments

01.01.2022 The NT will lose $8.5 million a fortnight in #JobKeeper payments from September 28, affecting almost - 20,000 - Territory workers and thousands of Territory businesses. The Federal Coalition is cutting this vital support to the NT at exactly the wrong time.
