22.01.2022 This is the first painting I have done in years. I like it a lot. It feels like the rainy days down here in Pemberton. It was also nice to get creative for fun. The freedom of its temporal nature. Because like the weather that inspired it, this picture too will pass and become something new. I'm looking forward to finding what that is :)... Without further ado, I proudly present... "Rainy Day #15"
21.01.2022 63 That's how many times Facebook has sent a notification trying to encourage me to share a new post on this page. 3 and 7 That's how many more notifications and how many more weeks it took before I actually did.... When we moved down south, I had grand plans of spending lots of time in the forest creating and exploring fantastical things but life is full of twists and turns and endless surprises and it didn't quite happen that way. Well its taken two years of preparation but I'm ready to begin. I appreciate you patience and ongoing encouragement Facebook. Now lets do this!!!
15.01.2022 This is my drawing It's not what I wanted to make but it's everything it was meant to be. I like it a lot :) It's been years since I've tried to sketch and I had forgotten how difficult it is to do. ... Not the drawing itself. But the whole creative process. The battle with yourself. The procrastination of the blank page. The frustration of the process. The relearning and development of skills. The conflict with work you are creating. The want to give up. The compassion to keep working. The embracing of the mistakes. The excitement of its new direction. The feeling of taking it too far. The mixed feelings of the outcome. Its funny. Even though I teach creative expression, and talk about the joy of process over outcome, I couldn't help but going through that cycle again. Thankfully, I know that each time I come back and try again, I get a little bigger and better at it. Drawing. Self compassion. Perseverance. Love of the journey I'm excited for next happens next. 11.01.2022 I’m trying to get creative again. Having a play with found natural objects. It’s funny how someone who teaches creative therapies can find creating so hard I’m sure I can remember how this is done Starting is always the hardest part....
