18.01.2022 If you are reading this, you will most likely know that "Carlos" is the better version of me. Luke can be a bit lazy, terrible at D.I.Y and a great procrastinator. Carlos is none of those things; he's pro-active, builds awesome decks and gets things done NOW. To create awareness of men's health, Carlos is back, and there is a giant, furry caterpillar under my nose to prove it. In a coaching situation, "Finding Carlos" and identifying your iGoals can help people get a clear im...age of what the "Better version of them" looks like. When you know what's really important, the path to finding your "True North" becomes a lot clearer. Carlos is Curious, Creative and Generous (my iGoals) and when I look at what I'm doing through that lens, it becomes obvious where you need to go. So what stops you? Your Nemesis! Superman had Lex Luther. Batman had the Joker, and I have now given my nemesis a name.. "little Luke". Little Luke is the shy, pigeon-toed kid from Nerang that couldn't read until about grade 9. Little Luke is an expert at procrastination and finding reasons NOT to do things. If you want a reason why you are not good enough, "Little Luke" will have plenty of them. Your nemesis will derail ideas before they are fully formed and lure you back into a world that avoids challenges and demands the comfort of the safe and familiar. Question: How do you quieten your nemesis? Answer: Name them and shame them. A big part of being Stress Teflon is "Honest Self-Awareness", and as such, we need to be aware of the stories we are telling ourselves. Once we "name and shame" the little version of ourselves, we can find the courage to let our better version (CARLOS) take over. That's when we become Stress Teflon and embrace life's challenges.

17.01.2022 Years ago, Karen, my wife and I were driving across America. Somewhere in western Texas, I needed a bathroom stop. We saw a sign for a gas station and took the exit off the interstate. My full bladder made it feel like my back teeth were floating, and taking that exit was a sign that relief was coming. We ended up on a service road with no sign of a gas station. Driving along the service road, next to the highway, the stress and urgency of my full bladder were getting worsen...o sign of a gas station and the relief its bathroom would offer. Karen was winding me up with talk of waterfalls, leaky taps and flowing streams wasn't helping, and the laughter was making my overflowing bladder.overflow. Five kilometres later, we finally came to the gas station and the relief its bathroom represented. My beige pants had a small, mysterious laughter-induced dark patch in the front that accompanied the embarrassed look on my face. Full bladders are stressful, but what made this more so, was the unknown of when relief was coming. Stanford Neuroscientist Andrew Huberman believes that you need to know three things to decrease stress: 1Duration 2Path 3Outcome

09.01.2022 COVID19 has been a stressful time because our duration, path or outcome aren't straightforward. We don't know how long it's going to last, we don't have an obvious path to take and our outcomes are vague at best. RESET is about CTRL/ALT/DEL: What CAN I Control?... What SHOULD I Change? What MUST I Delete? If we ask these three questions, we may not have a precise duration, path and outcome, but we will undoubtedly keep ourselves in a better state to make the most of what we CAN do. 04.01.2022 What did I learn? Do some training! Obviously! Unfortunately, that ship had sailed. The biggest lesson I learned from my lap of pain was to look for another way. We get caught in our habits and our defaults. There is always another way, another option that doesn’t come to mind easily. My friend and mentor, Dr Craig Duncan wrote a book called Self-Science: A study of You, by You. In it, he tells the importance of learning what works for you. Finding another option is impossi...ble if you don’t look for one. RESET is about asking the three questions: What CAN I Control? What SHOULD I Change? What MUST I Delete? There is always more than one way of doing things. To donate to MOB Academy: http://ow.ly/ePog50C0nYx

02.01.2022 Friend: "Nice moustache!" ME/Carlos: "Yes, you are right; I am a very handsome man." As November drew to a close and I prepared to shave off the prickly little food catcher that has been living under my nose for the past few weeks, I had been thinking a lot about self-awareness.... The safety of a TRIBE, pride from contribution and honest self-awareness are the three foundations of Stress Teflon, and it's the last one that I want to concentrate on today. My 'tash looks ridiculous! A fifty-year-old bloke with a moustache doesn't look hip or cool; he looks like he is stuck in a 1970's fashion time warp and still dreams of opening the batting for the Australian cricket team. The offending furry caterpillar is part grey, part red and every single hair wants to go in a different direction to the hairs either side of it. My wife won't kiss me, and you would have to know me pretty well to leave me alone with your kids. Yeah, it's not great. SO... Question: "what has this obnoxious bit of facial hair got to do with self-awareness?" Answer: It shows the power of re-framing.
