20.01.2022 Have you ever thought about lifting your house? Around Brissie, its a common sight to see an old house balancing precariously on timber sleepers, waiting for its new posts. In Queensland, we are in a unique position due to the post and beam design of our homes to increase the floor space by 100% - easily and affordably! You can add an entire ground floor to your home to make space for a rumpus room, teenagers space, or a self contained flat or whatever it is you need in... your life. If you are thinking about lifting, you need to know how much you will need to lift to gain space for a ground floor, and what the council height limits are. You will also need to think about the slope on the block as this can complicate the excavation and the space available. We use steel to re-stump and secure the home and the amount of steel will depend on the house space, weight and design. Before you can confirm the cost of a lift, its important to have professional engineering and town planning advice to avoid unnecessary complications. In my experience, excavation costs can be the biggest surprise factor for clients when lifting a house, along with the cost of retaining the soil around the house. Not only do you need to excavate to dig the footings, but you may also be excavating down to create enough height for the ground floor as shown in the photo below. 20.01.2022 Here are some helpful guidelines for planning changes to your home. Unfortunately, sometimes people realise these things only during or after construction. This is why it is so important to hire a professional to help you with these decisions at the design and concept stage, so it doesn't effect the desired outcome and cost of your project.

17.01.2022 A new custom hardwood staircase being created in Luke Murray Builders joinery workshop in Bulimba.

16.01.2022 This is one of our latest completed projects in Morningside, Brisbane. Beautiful upper deck with stainless steel kitchen and BBQ area, 2 large timber joinery sliding doors to exit the back of the house out onto the top deck. Black honed concrete staircase and bench seat and two blue gum hardwood decks. The lower deck is complimented with the rusted steel blade fence. All ready for summer.

16.01.2022 Have a look at this amazing hardwood timber retaining wall just completed by LMB in Paddington. This is the perfect way to utilise a steep sloping block. This retaining wall also helps divert the water that flows from the above property around the perimeter of the residence down to the street with concealed irrigation. It was great transforming this old hill into a useful space and I can promise you those sleepers are as heavy as they look!

15.01.2022 Luke Murray Builder presents our latest completed home renovation. This derelict home in Paddington fell under a character and demolition control restriction meaning that the front and side facade was required to remain. As you can see from the before and after photos there was not much of this house to work with. But today it stands a fully renovated family home featuring spacious interiors, quality finishes, and an alfresco entertaining area. 13.01.2022 Great job by our carpenter, Dylan, in creating this cedar shower floor for one of our new bathrooms. As you can see it finishes flush and fits beautifully with the non-slip polished concrete bathroom floor. Does your shower look this inviting?

11.01.2022 Great way to baby proof stainless steel balustrade with clear Perspex sheeting.

11.01.2022 This is a double carport and new rumpus room renovation LMB just completed in Mackenzie. We turned the old double garage into the rumpus room by removing the old garage doors and replaced them with glass sliding doors. We removed the old internal walls and structural steel posts and installed new steel beams to create more space. We then finished the room off by installing new power and lighting, ceilings and walls, finally completed with a new ceramic tile floor. Out the front we created a new double carport. Colourbond sheet roofing, Fibre cement sheeting to the underside and beams of the structure with brickwork supporting front piers. A great new addition to this house.
