25.01.2022 Gratitude We end this winter on a massive high as the last three months have been the busiest since we started Lumen + Luxe four years ago. There are not enough words to express just how appreciative and grateful we are for all of the love and support we continue to receive. We are especially excited and proud to share with you that since the launch of our Tsuno candle two years ago, your purchases have made it possible for us to donate... 648 boxes of @_TSUNO_ pads to women and girls in need so that they do not miss out on education, work and other opportunities in life. 23.01.2022 Recently, I was thinking about when I started Lumen + Luxe. What gave me the inspiration was the desire to create products that are kind to the environment and are not only beautiful but functional too. As Lumen + Luxe will soon be celebrating its 5th birthday, I still pinch myself everyday, amazed at the inspiring journey so far, thankful for the extraordinary community of beautiful customers who love our products, and excited about what the future will bring. 13.01.2022 Your nose is not broken. One minute you smell your favourite Lemongrass, Persian Lime + Passionfruit (or any scent in general) and the next you don't. Don't worry, your candle has not lost its scent, and your nose is still working, you just have olfactory fatigue. Olfactory fatigue, also known as odour fatigue, olfactory adaptation, and noseblindness, is the temporary, normal inability to distinguish a particular smell after a prolonged ...exposure to it. This is a safety mechanism our body has - it generally desensitises itself to all stimulation over time to prevent overloading our nervous system so that we can respond to new stimulation more easily. How to deal with olfactory fatigue? We have a few tricks up our sleeve that can help: Alternate between two or more scents that you like. If you love fresh scents with a touch of sweet, our French Pear and Lime in the Coconut are great options, and for the lovers of warm and woody scents, our Dark + Stormy and Teak, Moss + Sandalwood are beautiful choices. Use a different scent in the different spaces of your home. We love burning our fresh and zesty Lemongrass, Persian Lime + Passionfruit in the bathroom, our relaxing Body + Birth in the bedroom, and alternate our lounge room candles, current favourite is our limited edition Sevilla Spice! 07.01.2022 Hello Sydney! This photo was taken over two years ago, the last time I travelled to Sydney to showcase Lumen +Luxe at the Life Instyle boutique retail trade show. I would have never thought that I will have to wait two years to visit this beautiful city again. But here it is, even after a last minute scare with last week's lockdown in Brisbane, the stars have finally aligned! So hey Sydney, here I come! ... I am so excited to exhibit again in real life at this amazing event @life_instyle, and connect with a like-minded community of creatives and retailers. Doubly excited because I will have with me my secret weapon, my partner in crime who even though is no longer officially part of Lumen + Luxe, is very much present behind the scenes and the first person I reach out to whenever I need biz advice, @kylame. 02.01.2022 It happens to the best of us. We light our brand new candle, only to remember we have to go out in an hour, and have to blow it out before it has developed a full melt pool. Or we cut the wick too short when trimming it, and it does not have enough power to burn a full melt pool. Or our home is too cold, causing the candle vessel to go very cold on the outside, which makes it difficult for the wick to get the wax to melt (ideal temperature for you...r candle is 18-21 degree C). And our candle tunnels. The candle lover's worst nightmare Not all hope if lost though, keep reading. #CANDLELOVE101: How to fix a candle that has tunnelled: Our preferred way is to remove the excess, unmelted wax before lighting the candle again. Only do this once your candle is cool and the wax is solid to avoid getting burned. Once you have removed the unmelted hard ring of wax, you can light your candle again, but make sure you give it enough burning time so that is reaches a full melt pool. Another way to fix a candle that has tunnelled is the so called tin foil method.
