06.01.2022 Artist Profile Come and get to know the wonderful artists in our group show Luminance. Introducing... Matthew Gillic! -Who are you? A visual artist and observer of life who takes time to witness, learn and share knowledge and ideas.... -Who/what inspires you? My kids and innovative thinkers that see and find solutions to create a harmonious existence with each other. Self expression, learning and marveling at the wonders of the natural world. Also ancient cultures, the knowledge and wisdom they have/had, their relationship with nature and understanding of the underlying purpose to care for the Earth and all its interwoven complexities. Lastly - music. -What is your work about? Making the viewers think about their actions and how, as an individual, it is possible to create change that ultimately leads to better relationships with our Earth and the goodness in people. -How do you stay motivated? I find motivation from immersing myself in nature, especially the ocean, from children, media (TV/social) and staying connected with other artists. This allows me to stay in tune with current events, which keeps me thinking, ultimately inspiring ideas for my artwork. -Where can we find you and your work? @deface_it on Instagram or at [email protected]
