25.01.2022 How does your yoga serve you? Are your choices on the mat truly good for your body, or are there elements motivated by ego (not a popular word but we do all have one!)? Connect with your true self through breath and make a conscious choice not to take all you can, not to move into the fullest backbend your body can manage, because you see value in holding back. Choose health and integrity in your body over the glory of a making a certain shape and the magic will happ...en #backbends #asana #yoga #yogatherapy #yogatherapist #yogateacher #brightonyogateacher #brightonyoga #brighton #eastbourneyogateacher #eastbourneyoga #eastbourne See more

23.01.2022 Prana is often interpreted as breath, but it's so much more. The closest translation is energy or vital force. Have you ever wondered where the original energy, or prana came from? At the beginning of the universe, there was nothing, not even creation. Only an all-pervasive, unmanifest consciousness existed, known in the scriptures as Para Brahman. ... It contained everything necessary for creation, but the whole universe lay indefinitely contracted in it as a mere potency; prana remained completely absorbed in it. It was a state of perfect equilibrium and harmony. In this utter stillness, there was a movement. The Vedic texts state that a desire arose in that absolute principle "I am the one, let me become many". This desire was the first creative impulse, which resulted in willing. The willing of the unmanifest consciousness caused the first vibration, which caused energy, which led to the first movement. This first moment of becoming from being, this movement, was the first manifestation of prana. "This whole world - whatever there is - vibrates having originated from prana" Kathopanishad (2:3:2) "Prana and Pranayama", Swarmi Niranjanananda Saraswati, India, 2016 @mischievous_penguins #yogaphilosophy #prana #pranayama #hathayoga #yogatherapy #yogatherapist #yogateacher #brightonyogateacher #brightonyoga #brighton #eastbourneyogateacher #eastbourneyoga #eastbourne #sussexyoga See more

22.01.2022 The last full moon of the year is finally upon us It's time to bid adieu to 2020 but be ready - this tender, loving and emotion evoking Cancer moon will draw out a huge and much needed release for all of us. It may feel kind of intense, especially if you were born under fire and air signs and you're not so used to feeling all the feels. However, the transit between the moon and Uranus in Taurus brings an uplifting energy too. It's not just about saying goodbye to... 2020, it's about welcoming in a new year, a new era and new dreams. If it all feels too much, take some time to breathe, self sooth and reach out to loved ones or your community for support. And for just a moment tonight, look up to the stars and see the sparkling lights of what awaits us #fullmoon #yogatherapy #yogatherapist #yogateacher #brightonyogateacher #brightonyoga #brighton #eastbourneyogateacher #eastbourneyoga #eastbourne See more

10.01.2022 We’ve come to yoga late in life, in our 70’s, still quite healthy but beginning to feel a bit creaky and in need of attention to certain areas of weakness. Yoga with Rori has proven a great resource. She has assessed our individual strengths and weaknesses and tailored classes accordingly. After a weekly workout we emerge less creaky and more energised, and very grateful to have found such a thoughtful, skilled and understanding teacher. 06.01.2022 What do you think about music and yoga? Practicing yoga to music is a contentious topic. Yes, yoga is about the journey inward and quietening our citta (fluctuations of the mind) and technically speaking, music is one more distraction when we're on the mat. However, for me, music often helps me ease into the experience of being on the mat. Beyond this, the right music even helps me go deeper into my practice by surfacing feelings, memories and whatever else my mind... decides to serve up. Experiencing these thoughts - good or bad - while on the mat in a safe and reflective space, allows me to consciously work through whatever comes up. On the flip side, sometimes it just feels good and that is ok too! For those of you who've taken my classes before, you'll know I find joy in making new playlists for practically every class. Yes, I now have a library of them! I've put a link in my bio to one of my old favourites.
