25.01.2022 I N T R O D U C T I O N I thought it would a good time to reintroduce myself to my new followers. My name is Olivia Triferis & I am the owner of @lushious.lashes.melbourne ... I started my little home based salon 5yrs ago after a 15yr career in I.T and studying Law prior to that. Within 6mths of opening my business, I was at capacity. Not able to take on any new clients. My business was thriving and I was the happiest I’ve ever been in a job. At the 9mth mark, I decided I wanted to expand and began my hunt for a commercial salon where I could offer more boutique services and expand my team. I have been privileged to have worked alongside and hired some amazing lash artists and mentored aspiring lash enthusiasts to become great stylists. I have channeled my vision and passion for enabling women to create a lifestyle and business for themselves by starting my Lushious Lashes Academy. I have taught many women the artistry that is lash extensions and watched their businesses blossom into successful enterprises. It fills me with so much joy to be able to support, nature and inspire women who take the time to reach out and ask for my advice, support and now life long friendships. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I do. Patience. Persistence. Passion. Without it, we achieve nothing great & limit our ability to soar. While TECHNICALLY, incorrectly applied lashes can be dangerous to the natural hair, eye health and longevity of the eyelash extension set... STYLING can make or break how your client perceived themselves & that is super important. ... Lashes are a luxury service. For some it helps build self confidence. It’s a time saver in the morning. It’s something that corrects an imperfection (in their eyes) like small shaped eyes. If you style them in a way that draws attention to that or creates another visual distraction (dropping of the outer eye), widening of already large eyes... the customer can feel terrible about themselves. We are a feel good industry. Ask yourself: do all your clients leave feeling good about themselves when leaving your salon? Happy Friday!

Like many, I have closed my lash business in line with the Victorian Government regulations. ... But does that mean I’ve stopped working? No. It means I’ve had to change lanes and focus my energy on other work-like tasks. If you aren’t sure what you can do during this time, here’s some tips: 1. Work out your finances: do you know what your expenses are? Have you contacted your providers for discounts, holds, upgrades/downgrades? 2. Client Records: are your consent forms paper based? Have you considered going paperless and using an online booking system like schedul, acuity, timely etc? Use this time to transfer your client records online or setup an online booking system that’ll help you moving forward by freeing up admin time. 3. Educators: are your manuals up to date? Have you learnt anything new you can add? Are you touching base with past students during this pandemic? 4. Revamp your socials: this is the perfect time to create content ready to launch when we go live again. 5. Start a hobbie & make some money: for me, it’s candle making. I find it therapeutic and absolutely love the creative aspect. Maybe it’s macrame, doterra, LipSense... look for another way to earn an income. This is not the time to sit back and wait. We will be begging for downtime once we are back in the thick of it so use your time wisely!

Some others have decided to close permanently. Others have struggled with the restrictions mentally. Not being able to see family. Friends. Some are living in toxic situations with no escape that working sometimes gives. Heartbreakingly, it’s been all too much for others to live through. If you are a business owner & unsure what to do while in isolation, know that this time should be used getting PREPARED. - Revamp your workspace - Revamp your branding/logo - Create another stream of income.
