07.01.2022 Action we can all take now - an easy form to fill in to email this letter - it only takes a minute. There is power in numbers. Please do this today. Just click ...on the link below: Dear Premier and Ministers, I am calling on you to stop works immediately on the Western Highway expansion project, that if progressed will cause irreparable damage to aboriginal cultural sites. Traditional Custodians have been camped at the Djap Wurrung Heritage Protection Embassy for over 14 months, waiting for the Victorian Labor Government to consult on country with the Djap Wurrung People Over 260 culturally significant trees will be bulldozed in preparation for the Western Highway Duplication Project, the road will be built directly through the songline that connects the Djab Wurrung to their culture and their ancestors. The alteration in February to protect 5 trees fails to respect the significance of the landscape. This is Djab Wurrung Women's Country, protecting individual trees will not preserve the spirits and the culture held within this land. Any spoken or printed statements that this Government "Acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Land" are meaningless if you continue to ignore the explicit request for consultation from the Djab Wurrung people. I object to the planned eviction at the Djab Wurrung Protection Embassy and oppose the use of force to move on protesters. Doing so would be shameful and a national embarrassment. I call on you to cancel the eviction notice, and direct Major Roads Victoria to restart planning for this project, with Djab Wurrung at the centre of any negotiations
