24.01.2022 Have I told you about Jo my nail specialist? When I had chemo I lost 9 of my nails. They have never really recovered. Well not to what they were. Then I found Jo or actually she found me. She uses products that are so sensitive they have encouraged my nails to grow. She strengthens them with Light Fantastic and her colours are stunning. If you live in Brisbane please think about seeing her. Her number is 0409 352 655. She’s fabulous

23.01.2022 "Now, here I am sharing my most unexpected experience with cancer to spread a very important message. Whenever I reveal my diagnosis or mention that I am on che...motherapy, the recipient of this information usually reacts with a comment like, "But you look so healthy," or "How can that be? You take such good care of yourself." It wasn’t until reading the article in the Times that I was able to put this together: Yogis get cancer too. This is why I am sharing my story. Tell your friends, your sisters, your lovers. We are not exempt from cancer because we are drinking kombucha and meditating." See more

23.01.2022 Oh and Happy Lymphoedema Awareness Month (and more specifically Lymphoedema Awareness Day Wednesday 6th March) everyone! The Australasian Lymphology Association say 'put lymphoedema on the list' of things to talk to your doctor/GP/treating health professionals to increase their awareness too! I spent yesterday in Wagga Wagga at their 'What the Swell' event learning about the early intervention model of care for minimising the incidence and severity of lymphoedema following surgery for breast cancer. Thanks to Louise Koelmeyer from the Macquarie ALERT Clinic for the workshop! Here I am with Samantha from Charnwood Capital Chemist. Take home message - put well-fitting compression garments on as soon as you feel/measure swelling to improve your outcomes in the longer term. Keep up the good work all

22.01.2022 Today is #WorldCancerDay In addition to the need for early detection and diagnosis of cancer, so, too, is there a desperate need for similar awareness around... lymphedema as a side-effect of cancer and cancer treatments. Lymphedema occurs when lymph nodes are removed or become obstructed. It is common in breast cancer patients although it often occurs in patients with uterine, prostate, vulvar, ovarian cancers, lymphoma and melanoma, too. Early detection leads to early diagnosis, which can lead to treatment interventions and, ultimately, a better prognosis and quality of life for patients. Lymphedema: spread the word.

21.01.2022 Doing some learning!! Hope to learn lots about preventing and managing lymphoedema Happy weekend everyone!

21.01.2022 Hello my lovely friends Just a quick note to let you know I’m moving! Some of you may know I lost my husband in 2015 and I’m finally ready to move from our family home of some 20 years. It’s a logistical nightmare I must say! Anyway I need to reorganise my life which means my inability to service LympheDonna for a week or two. I hope this does not inconvenience you in any way. Just send me an email or a message if I can help. Here’s to a new life!!!! Will be back on deck soon V

19.01.2022 Repost of my painting from last year’s World Cancer Day * * This is my original painting ... What if we could change the way we see Cancer? What if we no longer had to fear it? What if we could cure it or prevent it? World Cancer Day is about creating real awareness, about encouraging detection prevention and treatment. What if #iamandiwill became our every day mantra. I am doing something, and I will do something. I am reminding people to check themselves or I will demand better or free testing be provided. I am fundraising for a cure or I will encourage someone through their treatment..... I am trying to conquer my fears and I will dare to dream of a cancer free world Inspired by the @pink song- A Million Dreams -"Every night I lie in bed, the brightest colours fill my head A million dreams are keeping me awake I think of what the world could be, a vision of the one I see A million dreams is all it's gonna take A million dreams of the world we're gonna make. #pinkoala #worldcancerday #worldcancerday2020 #pink #cancer #cancersurvivor #breastcancer #breastcancersurvivor #cancerawareness #cancerprevention #earlydetection #checkyourboobs #originalcharacter #amilliondreams #greatestshowman #illustration #womenwhopaint #australianart #melbourneartist #breastcancernow #cancersucks #pinkoalaart #watercolorpainting #whimsicalart #cancerfreeworld

14.01.2022 This is the ceremony we had at the completion of our amazing experience of walking the Larapinta trail. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done but with this group of incredible women we did it. Not to mention two of the best guides who knew so much about the area, culture and flora and fauna and always had our backs. We've made lifelong friendships. We feel so satisfied having done it. I never knew I'd love sleeping under the stars in a swag! I didn't mind no shower! And the outdoor toilet had the most incredible open view to mt sonder. Who knew!!! It was a fabulous experience. And best of all, along with team two who go out later this month, we've raised over $135,000.

12.01.2022 Stunning words.

12.01.2022 Head and Neck Lymphoedema occurs quite frequently after treatment for cancer in this area. It can affect a person physically and emotionally. It can be managed ...successfully at home once educated in simple drainage techniques and lifestyle changes. The use of cold low level laser has been effective when used in my clinic as part of the treatment plan. All treatments are heavily subsidized by Tour de rocks Armidale and any compression garment fully covered. Ph: 0467 677 301 Thanks Lisa Rowe See more

08.01.2022 In an effort to do my bit for the thousands of Aussies currently going through breast cancer, I have embarked on a fundraising challenge with Inspired Adventures to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia. On the 18th of July, I will begin 5 day trek across one of the country’s premier walking trails, The Larapinta Trail with a team of inspiring individuals dedicated to supporting Australians affected by breast cancer. Every kilometer we cover helps BCNA to co...ntinue their great work, which includes providing free programs, resources and support to all Australians affected by breast cancer. I will be part of a team raising over $100,000 and the reason I have taken up this challenge is because as you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6 years ago. If you were able to support me with a tax-deductible donation it would be greatly appreciated, and will bring me much closer to reaching my personal goal of raising $2,500! You can make a tax-deductible donation directly to The Breast Cancer Network Australia here: https://bcnagreataussieoutbacktrek.gofundraise.com.au//Vic Thank you for your interest and generosity! Smiles and hugs, Vicki Spanring

06.01.2022 I've just asked my wonderful nail expert here in Brisbane. Jo is not just a nail therapist but has a trustworthy experienced expert in the nails of cancer survivors. She helped me enormously when I lost nine finger nails after chemo. She has restored pretty much all my nails. Now Jo says this condition should be checked by your doctor. It may not be an indicator for melanoma but just get it checked.

06.01.2022 This morning I met a wonderful woman. Her cancer has decided to take over her bones. She is gloriously taking on life. She travels. She shares time with her family and lives life. What an amazing person. She's made me think how lucky I am, how grateful I am. What a life. ...
