21.01.2022 Last Friday Mike George, a Victorian based laryngectomee and Beyond Five Ambassador, met with Rachel Rayson, #HNC Nursing Coordinator at Epworth Richmond Hospit...al, Tracey Nicholls, Nurse Practitioner ENT and #HNC Cancer Coordinator from Flinders Medical Centre and Liz Nicholls, Regional Sales Manager ATOS Medical to share ideas and highlight the practical experiences faced by laryngectomees. Mike was a driving force in establishing Larykins, a patient support and advocacy group that helps to educate and support people who have had a laryngectomy and their families. The group also successfully lobbied to have Heat and Moisture Exchanger (HMEs) funded by the Victorian government and continue their efforts to get HMEs funded across Australia. Thanks, Mike, for continuing to share your experiences to help people living with #HNC and the healthcare professionals who care for them. 08.01.2022 Great news for South Australians with Lymphoedema!

01.01.2022 Eligible South Australians with lymphoedema will soon have access to compression garments through a subsidy scheme established by the SA Government. As proud Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA) members, lymphoedema physiotherapists Margie McConachie and I have been lobbying since 2016. This finally allows SA to be on par with all other states in Australia. We were part of the SA Health advisory group shaping the garment scheme and are very grateful that the ALA truste...d us with this task. We are also very thankful for the enormous help and guidance we received from the ALA over the last four years. This is a huge step in the right direction for Lymphoedema in SA. More information on the scheme can be found at the following link: https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au//lymphoedema+compression+ga - Karin Stepputtis Lymphoedema Physiotherapist
