22.01.2022 What motivates you to do the right thing and shoot for the Stars?
21.01.2022 Who wants to buy a fairy? Short Explanation: Ive been busy for the past 3-4 months helping Amy with the Giant dandelions. We have a Meet the Fairyman event a...t Trentham Gardens this Sunday and I plan to take Trillian with me. If you are interested in buying her, its a good chance to see her up close before I sell her straight after. Ive started on a new fairy and plan to make and sell one every couple of months or so. Ill simply post on Facebook when I have one for sale. Long Explanation: I can tell from the odd comments creeping in that some people are getting frustrated that the fairies dont appear to be for sale and I dont answer any messages. So Id like to explain a little about where I am and what Im trying to achieve with Fantasywire: I think in visual terms. Im not a words man. I like solving problems. I like drawing, designing and making things with my hands. Part of my day job (which I love) is graphic design. FantasyWire started as a hobby and the fairies has given my a wonderful platform to simply enjoy all the things I like doing in one wonderful big hit. An artist is someone who is willing to take a risk by expressing themselves to the world in their own way. The risk being will the audience appreciate it or will I look a fool? The reward should simply be the validation by the audience. Im enjoying myself and Im enjoying the fact that people like the fairies and I think Ive brought something quite wonderful to the world (correction youve brought something quite wonderful to the world, as is all of you who have shared it and put me here). Its good fun! This world appears to be run my ruthless business people who seem obsessed with exploiting every opportunity to make as much money as possible, but Im not one of them. Ive created some pieces of sculpture for my own enjoyment and your enjoyment (validation) is my reward. The fairies are not products. Not one of has been made with how much could I get for it? in mind. The only reason I have 270k likers, is because people can see straight through to the truth and you can all see that Im having fun. The minute the fun stops it will kill that wonderful thing. So whilst I like money as much as anyone, fun rules and any money I make will only ever be a side effect. Fantasywire does not exist to market the fairies for sale, it exists for me and you to enjoy them for what they are (images of fun in fairy form). Its not actually true that I dont to sell them. The mystery thats annoying people is how to buy one? A few years ago I accepted voluntary redundancy in order to start my own design business (not FantasyWire) and I anticipated 2-3 years of no income. So I did market them at first as selling the odd fairy was quite handy. I also agreed to quite a number of commissions. Ive finished all that now and Im not saying I will never do another commission, but I just want to play and have fun.I honestly wouldnt mind if I never sold one. I literally get 1000s upon 1000s of emails and voicemail messages: requesting prices, giving advice as to how I should cash in, mass produce, gallery offers, art agency offers, property developer wanting centre pieces, charity requests, begging letters the whole nine yards.. its quite surreal. I do care and I hate being rude by not answering. 99.9% of all inbound requests are from wonderful caring people who like my work and are simply paying me a massive complement by requesting information about how to buy one. Thank you and I absolutely hate blanking you and not answering, but there is simply no way to deal with that volume of requests one at a time, so below is where we go from here; What you cant see from Facebook is all the hard work thats going on behind the scenes to free me up to make more. My daughter (Amy) is now fully employed making dandelions and has even taken someone on to help her. The rest of the family are working like crazy making up the starter kits and I make all the fairy wishes. We are setting up a new website which should provide better information (Im well aware that the current one is misleading and does suggest that I do commissions). We plan to sell prints and calendars (but only because you keep requesting them). I also keep getting requests to do talks, workshops and classes, youtube videos etc: All great ideas and Id have fun doing them, so yes, but they will have to wait for now. For the past 3 months Ive been helping Amy with the giant dandelion installation at Trentham Gardens (great fun). Now that theyre in place I have returned to making fairies which I will sell from time to time. The plan is simply post the ones for sale on Facebook and people make me an offer. That way everyone at least has a chance. Ive drafted a set of very simple rules (which Ill publish soon) to hopefully avoid chaos, but well have to try it first with Trillian in a week or so. The big burning question that everyone want to know is how much? A couple of years ago, I would have been delighted with 2k but I needed an income and only had a couple of thousand people following me. Im now regularly getting offers in excess of 10k for a single fairy, which is a side effect Im more than happy to accept. That said, its not about money. Im not overly sentimental about finding them a good home, its simply that Id like some say in who I sell them to. I just want to make fairies. Ill sell a few, hire them out for weddings, run workshops on design as well as the craft of making them and enjoy where the journey take me. Whats the point of having a load of money if it kills the pleasure of doing what you love. FUN RULES
21.01.2022 Did you get told you would grow up to be nothing?...that you had no potential?...do you feel like you are in a rut and cant get out?...are you "expected" to continue on in a family vocation that really isnt what you aspire to? There is no-one else on the planet who can stand up for you, like you....learn assertive communication skills and step out of that abyss.

21.01.2022 If she thinks her 200K isnt a lot of money what about the poor buggers on a tenth of that? Workers are the backbone of this country and it sickens me that these politicians dont acknowledge that by lifting the aged pension, increasing Newstart allowance and reducing taxes. Good business looks after the weakest links - not just management
