23.01.2022 WARNING: Surgical Procedure . Puppies are notorious for eating all kinds of things! We've removed parts of toys, hair ties, skewers, socks, you name it! Basically whatever a puppy can get their mouths on & swallow, they will! Some items can cause obstructions whilst others may be toxic . Luckily for this cheeky pup, her parents knew something wasn't right & brought her to us at Lynbrook Vet last Saturday. ... . On examination you could feel something in her tummy & so we performed an xray to confirm..... It wasn't long before she was in theatre where Dr Kunal, assisted by nurse Bec & animal attendant Kristie removed a long sock which had been causing an obstruction and making this baby very unwell! . Today was her 6 day post-surgery check! After having been so sick, vomiting & lethargic prior to her surgery, this baby is back to her normal self which makes us so happy to see!! . This week alone we have seen 4 similar cases!! . Now is an important time to remind all pet parents to be extra cautious of what your pet has access to, as we are all home more often. . If ever in doubt about your pet having swallowed something, please give us a call for advice & get them checked sooner rather than later! . Stay safe everyone See more

18.01.2022 Our pets will need to wean themselves off having us at home all day. While some cats may embrace this change, for many dogs, the transition to time alone could be tough. Were still a few weeks away from going back to normal and even then this will be new. Try getting your pets ready for the new normal now by starting to desensitise them to your departures. Do you jangle your house keys before you leave? Do you put a backpack on? Dogs are great at piecing together cues whi...ch signal your intent to leave. Gradual exposure to these cues can help reduce the anxiety associated with them. So! Pick up those keys and sit and watch TV, or put on work shoes and cook dinner! Over time, signals that were once your departure cues will less likely become a trigger for anxiety for your pet. Routine is not the key to having a well adjusted pet. Now that were allowed out for an hour or two at a time, maybe start practicing leaving for 10, 20, 30 minutes at a time, slowly so that your pets can begin to get used to it once again, ready for the real deal. Check out our image for more helpful tips to help:

06.01.2022 Its nice to hear some good news stories during these stressful times and no better story comes to mind than that of Molly! Molly the Labrador has just celebrated her 13th birthday! You may see her rolling around Lynbrook. and we mean that quite literally! You see, late last year, Mollys arthritis became very bad. She began to have difficulty walking and had problems with her spine and using her back legs. Mollys devoted mum would carry all 40kg of her out to the toilet, ...to her food, water and tried every option under the sun from medication, acupuncture, physiotherapy and even had custom wheels made for her! Mollys love of life (and food!) along with her mums amazing care and dedication has proven how even when life throws us obstacles, we can overcome them! Molly is one very happy pooch and we wish her all the best and hope she continues to do well over this next year!
