24.01.2022 After a long and patient wait Yoga is back! So much excitement, my classes start: Thursday 19th of November ... Yoga in COVID times! Now more than ever our yoga practice is needed. In times of uncertainty and change a regular yoga practice can help reduce our stress levels and unwind from all this craziness. If this sounds like something you need you can join me on Thursday's at: Either 9am for Awaken and energize or 6.30pm for Strengthen and restore Classes are held at Crusoeden Body, 76 Church St, Kangaroo Flat, you won't miss us with our brand new face The safety of our students is our number 1 priority. Therefore we are adhering to the social distancing regulations, as well as the use of hand sanitizer and thorough cleans after each class. Students must also bring their own water, blanket, 2x towels and pillow. With these restrictions in mind we can have a maximum of 6 students. Bookings are essential. 22.01.2022 The end of the year is just days away. Wow, what a wild ride this year has been. I love to use this last few days as a time of reflection on the year that is coming to an end. As well as journaling the things I'm grateful for. A big one for me is that my beautiful step daughter survived a very serious car accident during the covid lockdown period. It really is a miracle. 21.01.2022 We are getting close to the end of what has well and truly been a crazy year. As the year wraps up, the hustle and bustle of the summer celebrations are just beginning. At this time of year we often come together with family, sometimes family that we have not seen for quite a while. Even more so this year since a majority if it has been spent in lockdown. I'd love to believe that time spent with family is all roses For some it may be, but for a lot of people this ...isn't the case. So how can we support ourselves with the extra obligations and emotions that arrise at this time of year. Yoga of course and I don't mean a full class. Just little mini yoga sessions throughout your day. What would this look like? Stop for 3 full breaths a few times each day. Take your attention to your belly. When your doing this it helps guide your breath to your belly. Notice the front, back and sides of your abdomen expand with each in breath. Try to relax and let go with your out breath. Take a few moments to rest in child pose. Picture below for a guide. If you've been on your feet all day, get them up above your head with legs up the wall. Picture below for guide. Well, when we look at this from an Ayurvedic perspective, we work on the principle of like increasing like. With this in mind we need to counteract the heat with cooling practices. 05.01.2022 Spring is in full swing with so much beautiful new growth all around. This is a transitional season for us with the slow, dull, heavy qualities of winter melting away. These qualities are also shifting within us and as a result we can feel the effects of seasonal allergies, colds and flu's. To help us let go of these winter qualities with ease we can make changes to our diet and yoga practice. Changes that will allign us with the new season. In our yoga practice we can opt fo...r twisting postures. These poses massage our internal organs which is a great way to start the detox process. When looking at our meals we can begin to lighten things up, letting go of the heavy comfort foods of winter. Opting for fresh seasonal produce that is grown in your area, is best for nourishing your whole being.
