25.01.2022 Does your child constantly turn their nose up at meal time and refuse to eat? Consider paying attention to their eating habits through the day - do they continually graze on bites here and there? Children (incl toddlers) need to come to the dining table HUNGRY and MOTIVATED to eat! Having structure around meals and snacks helps SO much, and ensures they get the nutrition they need.

25.01.2022 Feeding time at the zoo! At least that's what we used to call it in our house. Using Satter's Division of Responsibility depicted here TOTALLY changed our meal times from a battleground to a place of conversation and quality time together. Creating structure around meals and sticking to your role as a parent is a GAME-CHANGER.... I will be exploring all this and more in 2021 - stay tuned! IMAGE: mylittleeater.com

24.01.2022 What a fennel! I couldn’t resist changing my meal plan when I saw this beauty Pair it with orange segments, red onion and a few almonds and you have yourself a yummy salad with a bit of crunch. A nice change from winter stews The recipe can be found here: www.lynleyseaman.com.au

23.01.2022 I am SO glad messages like this are being shared in the media. Your weight/BMI is NOT a good indicator of health. Your dietary pattern IS. So say "get stuffed" to all those calorie-counting weight loss diets and start asking how much FIBRE is in your food.

22.01.2022 I am looking forward to sharing some tips on skin health from the inside out with the lovely clients and team at Bodhi and Rose Wellness Spa & Salon next week!

20.01.2022 Eating the rainbow is easy with that spectacular red cabbage. What an easy swap for the regular green variety. Eating 30 different plant- based foods each week is thought to increase the diversity of your gut flora (microbiome) which means a healthier you. Give it a try!

14.01.2022 Think eating 30 different plant- based foods each week is a challenge? With 12 in this bowl alone, I am well on the way to reaching that goal. #eattherainbow #fibre #nutritionist #loxtonsa #yum

14.01.2022 I totally rocked the home-made pizza this week Getting extra vege into your diet just takes a little creativity sometimes Ingredients

14.01.2022 Have you ever compared the taste of different olive oils? Last night I attended a tasting webinar with Cobram Estates, and it was amazing to note the differences between the extra-virgin olive oils (EVOO). It was very much like a wine tasting I tasted notes of apple, banana, fresh grass, tomato and pepper in the different tastings! EVOO is super rich in polyphenols when FRESH. (Polyphenols are those amazing plant-based compounds that are anti-oxidants, food for the gut mi...crobiome, and are known to improve digestion issues, weight management, diabetes, fatty liver, neurodegenerative disease, and cardiovascular diseases. BOOM!) Imported olive oils will not give you these benefits because the oil is already too old. Anyone who has had a consult with me, or attended a workshop will already know how big a fan I am of Australian-made EVOO Contrary to popular belief, EVOO is SAFE to use in all forms of cooking, because of the stability of the monounsaturated fats and those lovely polyphenols protecting it. It is the only oil I have in my pantry. Some other fun facts I learned are: Cobram harvest and crush their olives within 4 hours to maintain the highest anti-oxidant levels and optimum flavour We should be aiming to consume 45ml per day for the health benefits EVOO offers It takes 6kg or approx 2000 olives to make 1L of EVOO The stronger the flavour, the more anti-oxidants (of fresh EVOO) An open bottle should be used within 4-6 weeks. A slice of orange, sprinkle of cinnamon and drizzle of EVOO is apparently like eating a buttery pastry (I can't wait to try it!)

13.01.2022 I have an abundance of fresh parsley in my garden at the moment. Parsley is one of those nutrient-rich herbs that add so much flavour to dishes so I don't want to waste it. It is super high in Vitamin K (great for bone health), nitrates that help lower blood pressure and other immune-supporting and antibacterial compounds. To preserve it, I have blitzed it with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and lemon zest, and frozen it in ice-cube trays.... These tasty nutrient bombs will go beautifully in casseroles or soups over winter.

13.01.2022 Hungry kids Simple one-bowl recipe Delicious and packed with goodness Sweet potato and banana bread for the win!

13.01.2022 Here's a 2 minute read on why I love for my children to get messy in the kitchen. The ability to prepare a meal is a life-skill, and you can start that learning from early childhood.

13.01.2022 PERSISTENCE! Hang in there Mums and Dads, rejection of food is normal.

13.01.2022 Have you registered yet? Face to face workshop learning ways to manage mental health. And it is FREE! So great to have a learning experience that is NOT online.

12.01.2022 Finding family meals that everyone enjoys can be a challenge - dubbed the "unicorn" of meals by a friend Well, this was a meal in our home last week. The recipe was taken from the heart foundation's recent 4 week "heart healthy dinner plan" campaign. https://www.heartfoundation.org.au//cajun-veggie-fritters-

12.01.2022 Food manufacturers are getting on board with the "eat more FIBRE" message, and this fun new pasta is a hit in our house. It tastes less chalky than the traditional wholemeal or pulse pastas that are available, with the added fibre coming from the addition of oat flour. Pair the pasta with a sauce filled with grated carrot, zucchini and finely chopped mushroom, and you have a great meal for the little ones in your life. ... Or, if short on time (and ingredients!) try: Sweating down 2 grated zucchini in a frying pan with a little garlic, salt and pepper, Stir through the cooked pasta, grated Parmesan and a swig of olive oil. If you're feeling fancy, add a zest of lemon, but otherwise you're good to go! Perfect for a school lunch in a thermos too xx

11.01.2022 Make some time this week to watch this documentary, you won’t regret it. Those dreadful bikini body diet messages are just around the corner as the weather warms up, so fill your self-love cup NOW!... Free to stream for 7 more days.

10.01.2022 The gut microbiome is receiving a lot of attention (and rightly so!), but we also have other microbiomes, including our skin. We can’t exist without these old friends, and we need to nurture them. My upcoming gut health workshop will cover lots on our gut microbiome, including how to nurture them.

09.01.2022 It is time to say Merry Christmas and farewell to 2020. May the year ahead be filled with light and love. In the meantime, enjoy the festive season and make time to recharge ready for a cracking year ahead. xx

08.01.2022 Nutritious food doesn’t need to be complicated. A ryvita topped with ricotta, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup and topped with blueberries makes for a perfect afternoon snack

07.01.2022 After chatting with the lovely Kerri Lush on ABC Riverland radio this morning, I thought I would post the sweet potato brownie recipe mentioned in our interview. We also talked about utilising the slow cooker in this cooler weather and eating a diverse range of veggies (aim for 30 different plant-based foods each week) but who doesn't love a sweet treat Perfect for school lunchboxes if you are allowed nuts.... https://www.lynleyseaman.com.au//best-ever-sweet-potato-br

05.01.2022 I can’t wait to talk about this today with a group of Year 7 students! This book is fantastic, written by an expert in the field, making cutting edge science accessible to kids.

05.01.2022 This actually tastes good, Can I have the recipe please, and I am going to make this at home! Well done to the Year 7 chefs at Loxton Lutheran School today. They asked great questions, embraced the whole experience and had a lot of fun eating the end result!

05.01.2022 It was my privilege to speak with the Blind Cricket SA state team on Saturday, about the importance of nutrition in training, games and recovery. We had some fantastic interactive chats about the challenges of eating well, and how to improve their ability to recover quickly for the multi-day events that the players are training for. Key discussion points were around hydration, regular protein intake, and that the idea of "carb loading" the night before a carnival is not an ...effective strategy. On Sunday my family and I watched the exhibition match, and we were so impressed by their skill and team work. We also enjoyed hearing the banter that went on, and were fascinated to learn how cricket was adapted in Australia in the 1920s, to become the oldest team sport for the blind. Good luck at the Nationals! Blind Cricket South Australia

02.01.2022 Let's hope the SA outbreak of COVID ends soon, and everyone plays their part in minimising spread. xx

02.01.2022 Being aware that we need to eat more fruits and vegetables is one thing, understanding why is another. Spots are still available for my upcoming workshop on gut health, but don’t miss out! The link is here: https://www.trybooking.com/BLPBX
