25.01.2022 Out and about early this morning spreading this fantastic stuff.

25.01.2022 Boutique Garden #2 at Billabong Garden complex - Potting Shed featuring succulents.

25.01.2022 Crisp and fresh, first frost for the year and ice patterns in the fountain.

23.01.2022 Looking refreshed after todays lovely soft rain.

23.01.2022 Did you catch tonights sunset? A little bit eerie, whilst being spectacular.

23.01.2022 Boutique Garden #3 at Billabong - Day Room featuring succulents. Feature pieces in this garden were made by supported employees. Show and sale ends at 5pm today.

23.01.2022 If your lawn looks like this you could have lawn grubs. They have attacked some of my lawn now, this is 4-6 weeks earlier than you would expect to see them active. Take a trip to your favorite nursey for a treatment before they destroy your lawn

22.01.2022 These are some pics from a couple of years ago

22.01.2022 One for my lovely niece and those of you who garden in small spaces. Combine different shaped pots of similar type and place at varying heights. Plant with seasonal color and change the planting as soon as they begin to look shabby to keep the display fresh. Better to look like a 'going to be' than a 'has been'. Always use a quality potting mix and liquid feed regularly. try combining annuals with herbs such as parsley for extra green foliage and usefulness.

22.01.2022 Look what I found in my garden. Hidden by my other half who knows how much I love (haha) gnomes.

22.01.2022 Providing bright winter color at the moment are the red twig dogwood (Cornus sericea) and Nandina domestica (sacred bamboo). Unlike other Cornus this one is tough in warmer areas as is the Nandina. Mine is growing well under a Peppercorn tree where most other plants struggle.

21.01.2022 Brugmansia looks amazing this year. I think it's beautiful and remember it my Nannas garden. I know it's poisonous, but so are daffodils

21.01.2022 Looking out my door just now at this graceful old lady who is pushing 100 years of age. Wisteria look sweet but have attitude. Tough enough to grow over your house if you let them.

21.01.2022 If you enjoy the color that perennials bring to the garden, these have come through the heat and are shining into autumn. Backed by Maple 'Sensation', Agastache Sweet Lilli and Salvia Santa Barbara combine in the foreground to give a rich color burst right now. The rose that can be just seen in the centre is Julias Rose, which is a beautiful parchment color that tones well with the perennials surrounding it.

20.01.2022 What a superb autumn we're having. Beautiful rain yesterday on freshly coloured autumn leaves. This one is my Liquidamber, just starting to change to it's burgundy and amber coat.

20.01.2022 My garden pal thought he'ld get in on the act whilst I was photographing newly opening bulbs.

20.01.2022 Have just come home from Cowra and while there visited the Japanese Garden. If you ever have the opportunity, they are a must see. I need to go in the Spring!

20.01.2022 Autumn's last hoorah

20.01.2022 Exquisite Blue Ginger Lily (Dichorisandra thyrisiflora) and yes you can grow it in the Goulburn Valley. Irridescent blue flowers right now above dark green leaves to 1m high and making a clump in time of around 1m. I grow mine in shade under evergreen trees. The frost will cut it to the ground in winter, but it comes back again in late spring.

20.01.2022 How gorgeous is this Abutilon (Chinese Lantern). The dusky orange will go superbly with muted blues and purples. This shrub is tough in shade, but needs to be kept pruned as can get a little lanky when left to it's own devices.

19.01.2022 Time for a wander last night after work and catch some blossoms in the late afternoon light.

19.01.2022 A stunning small tree which is in full flower now is Prunus Elvins. Grows approx. 3m x 3m with white blossom which gradually changes to pink covers the tree. Foliage is green in summer and red in autumn. Tough in most positions.

19.01.2022 Some more pot shots

18.01.2022 Check out the Display Garden and Succulent Show at Billabong Garden Complex this weekend.

18.01.2022 There's something special about rainbows. They get me every time. Unfortunately this one had faded by the time I got my camera, it was much more spectacular 10 minutes earlier.

18.01.2022 This is the same garden where these Pennisetum rubrum were situated beside this Eucalyptus to pick up the color of the beautiful brown bark.

17.01.2022 The bees were almost drunk with nectar from this Hakea Stockdale Sensation today. When I went back to take the photo in safety this evening I had some stickybeaks come into the cattleyards to check out what I was up to.

17.01.2022 Noticed these this morning, probably extremely poisonous, but delicately gorgeous to look at.

16.01.2022 The last of the Hakea blossom which has been going for months and deepened in color as the season has progressed. The kangaroo paw is planted in a terracotta pot and is surviving on rain at the moment with supplementary watering during the summer. It has flowered on and off all year.

15.01.2022 The spring blossoming trees are starting to gather momentum. This lovely is an ornamental plum I purchased that had lost its label. So the variety is a mystery that makes it no less beautiful.

15.01.2022 Flowering at the moment is the tough Sedum Autumn Joy teamed here with a warm blue aster. Both of these will flower well into the autumn. The cream lily is Alstromeria Fabiana which is complimented by gorgeous varigated foliage and flowers spring and autumn

15.01.2022 Water crystals are so beautiful to photograph even when generated by a pea soup fog

15.01.2022 Burgundy foliage combined with mauves and muted shades of orange flowering perennials looking much better after I weeded today.

15.01.2022 Great weekend spent weeding and mulching. Who needs gym and meditation!

15.01.2022 Not a very good pic as had to sneak up on him, but look what was outside my kitchen window 10 minutes ago. Beautiful.

14.01.2022 I finally got some time today to have a wander around my garden and picture winter color. I will post more over the next couple of days. These are dainty hoop petticoat daffodils which are clumping beautifully and Iberis boldly pushing through a banded sphere. Both are tough and easy to grow.

14.01.2022 I was flicking through my photos from Melb. Flower and Garden show from last year and thought I'ld share some of my favourites.

14.01.2022 Who couldn't love a snowball bush (Viburnum opulus sterile) when they look like this. Leaves may burn a bit in January but who cares when they are so spectacular now!

14.01.2022 The flowers on Acer negundo Sensation, often described as insignificant, but I think they're gorgeous. This is a tough tree and the leaves don't burn in summer like some other varieties of maple. New growth is pinkish red fading to green. Autumn color is red to orange.

12.01.2022 The stunning simplicity of the Sambuca foliage against a grey sky

10.01.2022 How amazing does this look!

10.01.2022 Boutique #1 - The childrens colourful garden. Succulents used with lots of colour.

09.01.2022 Playing with some plant combinations this afternoon and loved this one. Grevillea Flamingo with Salvia Santa Barbara and Agastache Summercrush Orange. This combo is definately going in my garden. Also gorgeous was Grevillea Flamingo with Agastache Summercrush Red under a Peppercorn tree.

09.01.2022 The magic of raindrops and sunshine, filling my garden with beautiful water crystals this morning.

09.01.2022 If you're a rose lover, you'll be currently enjoying sumptuous blooms and divine fragrance. If you haven't already put some mulch around their base, do it this weekend and give them a feed to promote the next glorious display. As soon as the flowers have finished prune them off so the energy of the plant goes into the next flush of flowers. This beauty is the shrub rose 'Penelope' with Tulbaghia and Erigeron at her feet.

09.01.2022 There are so many beautiful daylily flowering at the moment. This particular one is 'Popcorn Pete'. They are tough, come in a wide range of colours and flower for weeks.

08.01.2022 Check out the facebook page for a new garden wedding venue at Tatura - 'Nimitybelle' 110 On Craven.

08.01.2022 One less mozzie!

08.01.2022 A piece of sculpture will add beauty for 12 months of the year to your garden, and can be moved to different positions for a change of mood.

07.01.2022 One of my favourite all time plants is the Aquilegia (Columbine/Grannys Bonnets). These graceful perennials are flowering at the moment and come in a range of colours. They grow easily from seed sown directly into the garden from now until mid summer. I have mine growing along the east and south side of our house where they get some protection from the westerly sun. Keep moist until established, they then cope well with moderate watering.

07.01.2022 Fresh untouched leaves are beginning to emerge from sleeping deciduous trees. This lovely colored leaf belongs to the purple leaf birch Betula Purple Frost.

07.01.2022 The bees were busy on the Lavender tonight.

07.01.2022 Looking for a use for your old jeans?

06.01.2022 Remember there's more to a garden than just flowers. Bark, foliage and berries all add interest especially over the next few months. Pictured are Peppercorn tree (Schinus molle), Canna and Nandina domestica.

06.01.2022 There are some beautiful plants available grown specifically for their spectacular foliage colour. Agonis Pink Flamingo is one of those. A relatively new release small tree growing to around 6m x 8m which weeps softly to the ground creating a lovely feature.

06.01.2022 The last of the hips on my shrub roses which are destined for the chop tomorrow.

06.01.2022 Pictured is a Cape Chestnut (Calodendrum capense). This is a beautiful, much under-utilised medium to large sized tree. Spectacular perfumed white or pink clusters of flowers cover the tree in November and December. This sub tropical tree will drop it's leaves in the Goulburn Valley in late winter, doesn't seem to be affected by frost and is heat and dry tolerant. The tree pictured is flowering now in my garden.

05.01.2022 I've been waiting ages for this little sweetie to blossom and exquisite she is. Grevillea Dorothy Gordon has a smaller flower than the likes of Robyn Gordon but the color is divine.

05.01.2022 It's the time of year when we're all out pruning our fruit trees and roses. Please remember to think about how you go about it and don't do stupid things. This is NOT me!

05.01.2022 Superb spring day and I've been lucky enough to spend it pottering in my garden. One garden bed is a sea of fresh blue Veronica and white Nemesia, while in other parts the late winter bulbs are nearing an end.

04.01.2022 Spring blossom in full force and so many to choose from. These two are looking particularly spectacular at the moment. The white flower is Prunus Mt Fuji and the deep pink is Prunus dulcis purpurea which is a purple leafed flowering almond.

03.01.2022 Our old Peppercorn trees look lovely at the moment with their gorgeous pink berries. The berries are also beautiful in floral arrangements. Native to tropical South America and was planted around a lot of Australian homesteads in the late 1800's now regarded as a weed in Vic, NSW, SA & NT.

02.01.2022 Spent today working on 3 themed Boutique gardens for the Billabong Garden Complex Succulent Show and Sale beginning tomorrow and running over the weekend. This pic is part of the Potting Shed Garden.

01.01.2022 Time away is great, but now the big catch up. I visited the garden which I have been posting since October. It has come through the summer with minimal losses. The growth of the grasses has been phenomenal and the garden in general is coming along really well. The replacements will be planted in the next few weeks and some strategic pruning done.

01.01.2022 Sweet raindrops on cobwebs caught between showers on dusk this evening.
