22.01.2022 2020 Lynwood Club Championships - round one action

21.01.2022 What’s On at Lynwood Golf? This week we’ve been celebrating Women in Golf! Lynwood Golf Club recognises the longstanding, influential contributions women have made and continue to make to the world of golf. Hardships and criticisms throughout history, like being banned entry from clubhouses, only made the women who were passionate about the sport stronger in their quest for recognition. We have been exploring the history of women in golf, like the first EVER women’s golf cl...ub established in 1867, known as the ‘St Andrew’s Ladies Club’. We have recognised influential figures like Issette Miller’s contributions to the first ever golfing handicap system, allowing a level playing field for golfers of less experience. We have been celebrating the likes of ‘Babe’ Didrikson-Zaharias, who was the first woman to compete in a men’s tournament in the 1930’s, co-founded the LPGA and won 82 tournaments in her career, and Australia’s very own Karrie Webbs, who was an amateur at 20yrs old and pro 2 years later, and has 41 wins on the LPGA Tour. From pros, to amateurs, to our dear Lynwood ladies, we thank you for continuing to play and influence this glorious sport, and for making your mark! There’s something else to celebrate this week, we have amazing deals on offer from the Clubhouse! 06.01.2022 This incredible drone footage was organised by one of our Members. Currently, the waters are lapping into the driving range carpark and into the maintenance compound. It’s a blessing that our Maintenance Facility, Driving Range Hut, Pro Shop and Clubhouse are all dry with no flood damage. However, understandably, the Clubhouse will remain closed until mid-next week, at the earliest. We will bounce back from this, and soon enough, we will be back, enjoying our piece of paradise. In the meantime, please do not try to access the site. We have seen images of people on boats, jet skis and canoes and we can’t stress enough how dangerous this is the water is high, with debris and unclean water posing significant risk. Please stay safe.

06.01.2022 Good evening Members. A course inspection was carried out at 12pm and, as you would expect, it is obviously extremely wet with all wetlands encroaching onto fairways. The Pitt Lagoon has begun to encroach across the 5th fairway as shown below. The next 24-hours will be a nervous wait as local run-off works its way towards the Hawkesbury River. At the moment, South Creek and McKensie Creek are flowing nicely into the Hawkesbury River and as of 2pm, Pitt Town Road was still open at McKensie Creek. The Warragamba Dam is likely to be opened in the coming hours and the result of this are unclear. The Golf Course will remain closed tomorrow and further course inspections wil be carried out on Sunday. The clubhouse will be open, with some great lunch specials and crisp cold beers to enjoy. Further updates will be provided as required.

02.01.2022 The rain has stopped and repair works have begun The Clubhouse will open from 10am Wednesday, in time for Easter celebrations. And we will keep you posted on golf course progress, as we commence restoration as the greens reappear. In the meantime, we’d like to thank you for your support and encourage you to continue to LOVE YOUR LOCAL.
