21.01.2022 On Tuesday July 7th, Fleetwood joined the board of the Lyrebird College (pictured) on site to witness the ‘turning of soil’ which was a momentous milestone for ...all involved. After four years of planning, the proposed special needs school looking to open in January 2021 will provide a quality, tailored and outcome focused education option for families with a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in a fun and safe setting... 14.01.2022 A Hopeful New Addition to the Coldstream Education Precinct Lyrebird College is a new independent school for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from foundation to year 10. We are a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity. Our school has been looking for a home in the Yarra Ranges and would love to be part of the re-energised Education Precinct in Coldstream. The vacant council land in Coldstream between the kindergarten and community centre is an ide...al setting for our school and we have applied to the Yarra Ranges Council to lease this land. Information about the proposed lease is on the following Yarra Ranges Council web page: https://www.yarraranges.vic.gov.au//Proposed-lease-for-Fai The education choice for a child with an ASD is an important decision a family has to make. It is even more important for those children with complex needs who require high levels of support. There are very few options available for parents of these children outside of the public sector. In general, there are limited schools in Victoria specialising in the care and education of children with an ASD. Lyrebird College will provide a quality, tailored and outcome focused education option for families with a child with an ASD in a fun and safe setting. Our classes will have a high staff to student ratio with each student receiving 1:1 learning time as necessary to enhance their learning and to assist in achieving their goals. We see ourselves forming a strong connection with the Coldstream community and are excited to become part of the Coldstream Education Precinct alongside the Coldstream Primary School, Yarra Ranges Kindergarten, Maternal Health Centre and playgroup. 12.01.2022 The Lyrebird College board has decided that the timeline to open our school in January 2020 is too tight to meet all regulatory and build requirements. Our priority is to provide the most supportive and nurturing environment for our children and families, so rescheduling the opening is required to create this space. In order to provide a quality educational experience for our children, we will move our school opening to January 2021. We are extremely grateful for the continued support by our community, and we will keep you updated on the progression of Lyrebird College as we look forward to our opening day in January 2021.

07.01.2022 The Board of Lyrebird College is excited to announce the appointment of our college principal, Julie Kugler. Julie joins the Lyrebird College team with 20 years’ experience in education, including 8 years in Principal Class Officer roles and Education Consultancy. Julie has a real commitment to student wellbeing along with an expert knowledge of curriculum development, leadership and pedagogy. She has worked closely with many schools as an advisor to improve student learning ...outcomes. Julie is passionate about creating a joyful and caring learning environment for young people with ASD whilst pursuing excellence in education. She considers it a real privilege to have the opportunity to bring her expertise to being the founding principal of Lyrebird College, a school that reflects her core values. 05.01.2022 The Yarra Ranges Councillors have agreed to lease the land at 12 Kelso St Coldstream to Lyrebird College for the establishment of our school. We are excited to be a part of the Coldstream Education Precinct and will now start the council planning application process.
