25.01.2022 Thinking about lunchboxes for your preschooler? There are so many choices ! Some things to consider: - At Lyrebird we store our lunches in the fridge. You don't need insulated bags. - We encourage the children to develop their independence. You can support this by ensuring they have a lunch box they can open themselves and is easily identifiable. ... - Choose foods that are simple and easy to eat. Avoid foods that might be hard to eat or they don't like. *See enrolment pack for specific foods to avoid. - Lunch boxes with compartments will allow different foods to stay fresh throughout the day. - We encourage healthy eating at Lyrebird. Involving your child in choosing their own foods might encourage them to eat what's in their lunch box. - Have a practice at home before preschool starts. Pack lunch for a day at home. Can they open/eat everything? Is there too much or too little food? Is there any food they avoided? - Don't forget to send a bottle of water with their name on it. Please ask if you have any questions about what to send for lunch at Lyrebird.

17.01.2022 The children are really enjoying our newly renovated playground. This climbing wall is great for gross motor exercise. Did you know that it recommended that preschool-aged children should be physically active every day for at least three hours, spread throughout the day? At Lyrebird we are blessed to have such a large playground with many different areas for children to run, climb, build, and explore.... @katherinewilsonphotography

15.01.2022 Our children have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Auntie Loretta Parsley a local Indigenous artist and director of Doolagarl Dreaming. In this artwork, the green dots represent the children as part of their community, which is shown by the circle surrounding them. At Lyrebird we are residing on Wandi Wandian country, we acknowledge, value and respect the traditional custodians of this land, the Dharawal people. We believe we have a responsibility to our children and families to actively embrace reconciliation and to foster a sense of belonging and connection to the land and to our shared Aboriginal history and culture.

09.01.2022 Our children love being able to use real tools! At Lyrebird we believe that children are capable and intelligent. The use of real tools gives children a sense of accomplishment and a deeper desire for constructing, building, engineering, and creating. It also allows our children to begin risk assessing themselves and gives them a sense of responsibility and independence.

09.01.2022 Building blocks are so much fun and allow our children to use their imagination and creativity. Did you know that construction play in particular has shown to build problem-solving and mathematical skills? At Lyrebird we see children as unique, capable, and resourceful individuals who express themselves, explore their worlds and connect their thoughts, feelings, and imaginings in endless ways.
