25.01.2022 Those of you who are familiar with Lyrebird Villages are aware that the facility areas are named by Australia native flowers. The areas and residents you have been introduced to so far on Facebook live in the areas of Banksia, Boronia Upper and Boronia Lower. We would like to introduce you to Waratah. Waratah is a unique area, know as our Memory Support Unit, which specializes in caring for those who have a severe degree of cognitive impairment. There are 17 individual rooms,... a lounge, separate dining area, cinema room, garden, quiet spaces, sitting room, activity room and 17 wonderful individuals who call it home. While it is always a part of Lyrebird Villages as a whole, Waratah has its own Lifestyle program specific to the individual requirements of the residents. We share many common themes and activities throughout the facility such as bus drives, special events, coffees in the Lyrebird café, walking groups, shopping trips and visiting entertainers but they are tailored specifically to our Waratah residents specialized needs. Enjoy these few photos of some of the fun and happy times in Waratah. #lyrebirdvillagesfortheaged #drouincommuninty #familyatlyrebirdagedcare #lyrebird #funinagedcare

11.01.2022 THE CUPBOARD KIOSK - a great place to catch up for a natter or buy a chocolate or three The Shop, as it was originally called, was a service provided to those who were unable to get down the street to purchase something for a sweet tooth, a biscuit or a greeting card. ... Thalia was our first manageress, who kept a keen eye on everyone's favourites (especially the staff ) and made sure they were in stock. Upon her retirement, The Shop underwent an update thanks to the crafty skills of staff member Wendy and her just as crafty partner Peter who made a glorious "shop front" canopy and The Cupboard Kiosk was born. Thelma was our new manageress who brought with her many years of retail knowledge and the Kiosk expanded its range to include cold drinks and a variety of gift items. Now Thelma has decided to retire from duty and the Kiosk will yet again transform. The smiley face you will see at the cash box these days belongs to Gwen who is new to customer service but excited to try something she's not done before. Gwen has some ideas of how we can cater to the clientele of Lyrebird so watch this space as we offer something new. Yet another Cupboard Kiosk development We mention these ladies to you as they have served the community at large for many years and continue to do so, within the Lyrebird community. Still putting their varied skills to good use and serving those who need a little extra assistance #lyrebirdvillagesfortheaged #familyatlyrebirdagedcare #funinagedcare #positiveagedcare #drouin #nevertooold #lyrebird

10.01.2022 ROAD WORKS NEAR OUR FACILITY Please be advised that there is currently roadworks near our facility. Intersection improvement works on Young Street, Buln Buln Road and Hopetoun Road, Drouin will be undertaken between Friday November 6th and Saturday November 7th, weather dependent.... To minimise traffic disruptions and maintain safety of all road users, Hopetoun Rod will be closed to traffic between Buln Buln Road and Young Street, including both intersections (however access to residents will be maintained). A detour will be put in place, effective between the hours of 7.00am and 6.00pm, which will see road users utilise Bank Place, Brynwood Avenue, Edward Street and Neerim Street instead of Hopetoun Road. Please refer to the traffic management plan below. Road users are requested to obey all traffic management and signage. Delays can be expected, however we apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and please keep safe. #lyrebirdvillagesfortheaged #familyatlyrebirdagedcare #wecareinagedcare #positiveagedcare #drouin #lyrebird

04.01.2022 Lyrebird Villages are very proud to be a part of a generous and engaged community. Many of our residents are "locals" who have been long standing members of a variety of community groups and the connections are ongoing, despite no longer being active participants. We were visited last week by two lovely members of one such group, the Drouin Lions Club, who have created hand made Christmas cards for our residents.... Lions Barbara Mitchell and Erika Wassenberg donated the beautiful cards to help spread Christmas cheer to everyone. Thank you so much for thinking of our residents ladies, we appreciate your generosity #lyrebirdvillagesfortheaged #drouincommuninty #drouin #familyatlyrebirdagedcare #christmascheer #funinagedcare #drouinlionsclub #LionsClub

02.01.2022 The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of WWI. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all conflicts and is symbolised by the red poppy. Please #rememembertoremember this November all those who served for the greater good of our futures. #lyrebirdvillagesfortheaged #rememembertoremember #familyatlyrebirdagedcare #drouin #lyrebird
