25.01.2022 Lovely day for a dip in the dam

24.01.2022 Lysterfield post office, photographed by Tecoma resident, photographer, builder, raconteur, eccentric, musician, story teller, Charlie Hammond. This photograph... is from the State Library of Victoria collection and is dated 1920s?? . Edward VII had a short reign from 1901 to 1910, George V took over in May 1910 and was on the throne until 1936. The post office had plenty of time to get a sign up by the 1920s, so possibly this photograph was taken earlier than the 1920s? See the SLV pahe here: http://handle.slv.vic.gov.au/10381/116503 Lysterfield Post Office, Vic. Author / Creator Hammond, Charlie, 1870-1953. Date [192-?] Identifier(s) H90.72/68 Contents / Summary Looking towards small weatherboard hut with sign reading: Lysterfield E. R. Post Office; railing fence in front with saddled horse tied to rail.

03.01.2022 Wind, rain & rainbows thismorning

02.01.2022 2021 is off to a rough start for us! Last Sunday morning heavy rain sparked an electrical fire in the roof of our 150 year old homestead ‘The Oaks’ and despite an incredible effort from several CFA crews it was sadly destroyed. We are incredibly lucky for the time of the fire, no humans or animals lost.. just a lot of cherished possessions and family history. ... It wasn’t much of a house but a wonderful home of ours for the last 35 years. It’s been an incredibly rough week both mentally and physically setting up camp as we’re not in a position to leave the property with so many animals to care for, but the community around us has been incredible. Neighbors have been dropping off clothes & essentials, agistees have done a meal roster for our dinners and the family & friends working to the point of exhaustion to get us set up this week. If we weren’t so exhausted we would be overcome with emotion from the offers of help and support we have had this week, so to everyone THANKYOU!!
