25.01.2022 Reminder: we can't promise to see a nesting turtle on every Turtle Nesting Experience Tour. Update: we have seen a nesting turtle on every Turtle Nesting Experience Tour so far this year (2). Here's a photo of tonight's guests (Grace and Becky) who've "dropped and acted like a rock" while the turtle passes them on her way back to the ocean after a successful nesting.

25.01.2022 In regards to our luck in finding a nesting turtle, last night's tour group was SUPER lucky! While we were watching our first turtle during her nesting process we also watched another turtle emerge from the ocean to nest, and then all of a sudden there was another! Yes that's right, there were 3 turtles nesting in the same area at the same time! This was a dynamic difference to our tour the night before which unfortunately didn't get to see a nesting turtle at all. We did se...e a couple of turtles that night but for some reason they didn't fully emerge to nest. This just goes to show how different each tour could be... Wish us luck for tonight's tour!

25.01.2022 These beautiful winged creatures are called dollarbirds. They migrate here in September to breed and then around March and April they return to New Guinea and adjacent islands to spend the winter. These are a Mangala Season bird. Just like many other animals from all around the world, these choose to travel all the way over to Yawuru country to practice an activity that is very important to their existence. Knowing this adds so much more value to our country and increases ...the level of conservation importance to these areas. These woodland areas provide a special type of vegetation with large, high and hollow trees which are perfect for their nesting. The area also provides a perfect habitat to feed. Hence why they choose to breed here. I love the uniqueness of Yawuru country! It has so much to offer that the common eye doesn’t see. This is why I started Mabu Buru Tours. I aim to show and teach things that I’ve learnt growing up and during my time as an Indigenous Ranger. To not only promote our region to visitors but also to raise awareness of it’s cultural and ecological importance. I love it and I know others will too if they could see what I see. There’s an old saying that goes; magic is real, it’s called nature. By the way, I didn’t take the first photo. I borrowed it from google to show you what the dollarbird looks like. The photos of the nesting in the tree hollow are my photos. Enjoy!

23.01.2022 These guys are out and about again...

22.01.2022 If any of our tourism, photography or bird watcher friends want to go and see something cool. Head down to the Broome Port Slipways and check out this young osprey in it's nest which is made on an old lugger looking boat. The parents are often near by too. If you do head down to check it out please be sure not to get too close because we wouldn't want to disturb them or upset them! We definitely dont want the baby to fall out of her nest from a possible panic. Show us your deadly pics if you get any? My footage was just taken on my phone

22.01.2022 During our night beach walking turtle nesting experience tours, It's too often that we see turtle watchers out on the beach that are doing things that have the ability to interfere with the turtle nesting process. We really need the flatback turtles to successfully nest without interference because they're a threatened species and unfortunately only one female out of a thousand hatchlings will actually return to the beaches to nest when they're finally mature enough to breed ...themselves which is only after they're around twenty years old. That is why we advise people to NOT go out turtle watching on their own or without a professional guide that is experienced in the field of turtle nesting or turtle conservation. We hope that everyone respects and supports our advice as this is in the best interest of all marine turtles as a species. Because of our previous experience in working with nesting turtles and in the field of turtle conservation, we are very proud to be the first and only authorised turtle nesting tourism operators in Broome and we're also very proud to be providing the safest way to observe the turtle nesting process without risking or interfering in this very unique, very beautiful and very important activity. For more information about Mabu Buru Tours or to make a tour booking please visit our website at broomeaboriginaltours.com.au

19.01.2022 "The Magic Hour" in Lombadina this morning #WAITOC #Lombadina #Broome

18.01.2022 This morning while having a walk around in the mud flats of Roebuck Bay we found what looks to be a dugong tusk. Just been comparing it to crocodile teeth... Make sure you're following and subscribed to our YouTube channel ( Mabu Buru Lifestyle ) if you want to see this find take place and what else we found during this morning's last minute unplanned walk around in the mudflats. Also while taking this photo my camera found a face in the table surface. Looks like Sid from the Ice Age movie...

18.01.2022 We've still got room on tonight's Turtle Nesting Experience if anyone's keen. It'll be a 7:30 pm start https://www.broomeaboriginaltours.com.au/tou/turtle-nesting

17.01.2022 Unfortunately out of the last 4 Turtle Nesting Experience Tours only 2 have been successful in finding an actual nesting turtle. Last night was 1 of those successful nights. Here's a photo of the group "acting like a rock" while she passes them on her way back to the ocean after successfully laying her eggs.

17.01.2022 Woohoo,,,,,, another night and another successful nesting! That's 3 successful turtle nests, 3 nights in a row. Here's the group during their "drop and act like a rock" moment while she crawls past them on her way back to the ocean after successfully laying her eggs on beautiful Cable Beach here in Broome, Western Australia. 17.01.2022 Hello again Facebook Family! We just wanted to remind everyone that we have a YouTube channel that we use to share our lifestyle activities on. We also use this chanel to share topics like bush medicine, bush tucker and other traditional lifestyle practices. The name of our YouTube channel is; "Mabu Buru Lifestyle". One of the main reasons we originally started this YouTube channel was to use it to share some of the things that we talk about during our tours but don't have ti...me to demonstrate during tour or because it's simply not the right time of year to practice those seasonal activities. Here's one of our favourite Yawuru Lifestyle Episodes which is when Johani took out our new boat fishing with some family. We are asking everyone to please get behind our YouTube channel by sharing any videos that you enjoy and to please subscribe to our channel to show your support in what we do, but also to keep our motivation and interest up in making more videos for you and everyone to enjoy? https://youtu.be/DSunjk87psk

16.01.2022 Who would win, a freshwater crocodile or a goanna? This guy was in the freshwater crocodile pen at the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park before my tour today. When I first found him he's head was inside that silver bucket which has the crocodile food.

16.01.2022 Last night we encountered a flatback turtle that was near the end of her nesting process. The sad part of the experience wasn't that we missed viewing the nesting, it was the location of her nest. For some reason she chose to lay her eggs inside the intertidal area and about an hour later the nest was under water as the tide rised up over the nest. This was simply nature taking it's course and there was nothing that we could do except be witnesses to what we believe is going to be an unsuccessful hatching...
