21.01.2022 PSA - Intermittent permissions error in Word 365/2016 for Mac. Hi all I’ve had a couple of calls about this, Word or Excel has been working fine and saving fine and all of a sudden it won’t save because of a permissions error, a Mac restart fixes this issue until it happens a couple of hours later and it happens again. As far as I can see it can’t be an Apple issue and rather a Microsoft bug so the advice I would give is if you aren’t getting this issue don’t run your softw...are updates, if you are getting this issue update as soon as possible you may have to wait for them to release a bug fix though. 14.01.2022 iOS9 has just been released for iPhone and iPad, and there are a couple of cool additions - but the one I like the best is the keyboard now has a lower case (as well as the normal upper case). Why this didn't exist since the being only Steve knows!!

11.01.2022 Sooo, exciting news in the Mac world today, the new update macOS High Sierra has been released, basically a tidy up of Sierra but! with a new file system called Apple File System (only for SSD drives at the moment) so should you upgrade? yes, but if only you're brave (and have a full back up of your present system). I've just upgraded and have very little negative to report (I also upgraded an external SSD so I can jump back). David Pogue has an excellent write up below. 10.01.2022 If you're one of the brave checking out El Capitan (the latest Mac OS in the stupid name series) you might want to wait if you rely the the email client Outlook 2011 - seems there is a sync issue. 07.01.2022 HI Mac, peeps - if you are running the latest Mac OS High Sierra that came out a few weeks ago. Make sure you update it now! There is a serious security flaw (logging in as root sans password). It has now been patched! To do this, go to Apple Menu and App Store, updates is on your right.

05.01.2022 Just a tip everyone, if you don't have Sierra installed, please go to the Apple Menu and choose the App Store and download it it's free and once the new "High Sierra" comes out you won't be able to download it - unless you have done this. To see if you have Sierra already go to the Apple Menu and choose About this Mac. It should look like the image below. You don't have to install Sierra by the way - unless you really want to of course. High Sierra is going to be a major cha...nge - new file system! 04.01.2022 PSA - safe search in Google. If you're worried about your little munchkins seeing the nasty stuff in Google then you should do this. Google has a Safe Search feature, they have to be logged in with a Gmail/Google account. So if your little one doesn't have one you'll have to sign up, at least it's free. If you're logged in you'll see balloons at the top right of the screen. Then follow the link below to set up for any laptop or phone or iPad they have access to.... It is advisable to use this with a parental account controls - I use the Netgear Live Parental Controls (which is also free - but you have to have a fairly recent Netgear router). https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/510?hl=en
