22.01.2022 Yesterday was Hari Kuyo in some parts of Japan. Hari Kuyo is the festival of broken needles, where people pay their respects to their hard-working needles. Other parts of Japan celebrate Hari Kuyo on 8 December. During the festival bent and broken needles are inserted into a soft substance, such as a tofu curd, and blessed by Shinto monks before being disposed of. I hope your needles received a fitting send-off yesterday!

07.01.2022 As I write this post, it is with great uncertainty as to when the world will get back to some sort of normality. So after much deliberation, the committee and members, together have agreed on suspending our monthly meetings, in light of the COVID19 pandemic for now, based on a month to month review. We are fortunate that our meeting rooms are far enough away from the main public areas of the club, but to get to the rooms, there is still the traverse though these public areas,... and we don't feel that it is wise to continue, for the safety of the members and their families. General 'business' will be conducted as normal, but in a 'cyberly' way. We are even trying to implement meetings via live view/Skype format, which will enable members to 'get together' once a month. Our Members Only group is still active, and a lot of chat occurs there, so that will not change. The monthly challenges will also still go ahead. We will keep our members up to date on the COVID19 situation as it arises. 06.01.2022 Such a fabulous day was had by all attending members at our 3rd birthday celebrations. The day started with the exhibition of two challenges... the monthly challenge, and the Easter extra challenge.... always a fun time to see the diversity in interpretation of the set themes. This was followed by a luncheon, and a celebratory birthday cake. There was beading time as well. ;) Thank you to all who made this day a special day. :)
