25.01.2022 Yesterday we enjoyed a 6km walk to Liffey Falls. (Lauren walked the whole 12km’s! ). The scenery was delightful and thankfully I didn’t have to carry any children; just one backpack with a pack of UNO cards, water bottle, a towel, a wetsuit, a bat and ball game ..I think Rosie had something else planned! We enjoyed some delicious banana and chocolate muffins with chai tea next to the stream before we took off on our walk. Arriving at Liffey Falls after a beautiful walk (despite a few leeches) amongst the ferns, the eucalyptus and the sassafras trees we ate lunch next to the waterfall. Rosie and Lauren attempted a swim! Too cold though.

25.01.2022 Fresh air and great spot to walk.

24.01.2022 So we went to Tamar Island wetlands yesterday . We went on a big walk. At the start of the walk we came across a baby snake. We knew it was a white lip snake because before the walk we listened to a nature talk on the bush and all the animals in it. When we were listening to the talk they told us that white lipped snakes had rough skin but a smooth head. So thats why we thought the snake was a white lipped snake . And we thought it was a baby snake because it was so smal...l! After that we continued on the walk. We kept hearing rustling in the bushes, we thought it might be more snakes ! We kept walk on and came to a spot that was parted in the bush. And then we released what made all the rustling noise. It was a bird. It has a long orange beak and an purple tummy. We didnt know what type of bird it was so we looked in our bird book . According to the book the bird was an Australian swamp-hen. Anyway we saw heaps of those on our walk. I got really thirsty because I left my water bottle in the car ,. Then we came to a bbq . Next to the bbq was a tap which was really good. So I had a big drink from the tap. Then we came to a picnic table. We had some popcorn with our friends there. We kept on walking til we got back to the start of the walk. There was another little path that we hadnt been down yet so so we went down that path. That path didnt go around in a circle like the other one. It was way shorter too. At the end of the path we came to a little hut. Then we went back to the car and that was good because we had heaps of snacks in the car and I was really hungry . By Rosie. See more

23.01.2022 Pretty park next to our new home.

23.01.2022 Happy New Year from all the Maccas. New adventures. We spent a wonderful, relaxing day at Bakers Beach today swimming and walking around the National Park. The girls were given new jackets for Christmas which have been really useful here. One minute its warm enough to swim, the next its windy and cold!

22.01.2022 Discovered a few spots to visit this week. Van Diemens Creamery, a Raspberry Farm, a church, some pretty coastal towns. The girls enjoyed camping last night, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows over a fire. Also Gingerbread house building at a local church. Starting to feel like Christmas.

22.01.2022 Here we find ourselves living in Launceston, with Chris working at UTAS Stadium. Life is sure full of blessings and new adventures. The girls are happy, although missing their friends and family.

20.01.2022 A country drive to see some piglets! Squeeeee.

19.01.2022 Yesterday the girls were really excited to see where Daddy works. So the big gate was unlocked and they were allowed in to UTAS Stadium. Home of The Mighty Hawks (Dads beloved football team since he was able to pick up a football). How nice is the grass he kept asking. Hes loving everything about his job and his greenkeeping world has opened up to many areas that he hadnt worked in before. We are all so grateful for his work opportunity and to see him doing so well. Soon we will all be there to watch Hawthorn defeat The Eagles (dont miss The ANZAC day match!).

19.01.2022 Further down the road...anyone seen the movie Light between Oceans? That was filmed here in Stanley. More than one Nut in these photos!

18.01.2022 Arrived in Tasmania last night with some very excited young girls. Drove off the big boat and found our way to a hotel in town. Very sleepy after the huge trip Chris and I fell asleep leaving the girls wide awake (they slept for 5 hours on the boat!) whilst Dad was ecstatic to be able to spend a day watching the GABBA Test. Safely in Devonport, we thought, we awoke to the hotel fire alarm and screaming sirens and staff yelling get out. So I grabbed my wedding rings and 3 g...irls and we found our way to the exterior stairway. Quite a way to wake up! Fire on the first floor was extinguished and we were able to collect our remaining items. So off we go now to buy some necessities and find our way to our new home at Farm on Franklin. See more

17.01.2022 Gordon River, Sarah Island, Strahan and the Wild West Coast of Tasmania.

16.01.2022 The family took a drive out to Springfield Cafe and Scottsdale, Ledgerwood region today. We met another homeschool family whilst having lunch at the Amish Cafe and visited another homeschool family at their farm. We also met some Alaskan Malamut cross with Husky pups and a brand new, day old dove whilst visiting a saw mill. It was a windy drive over steep Sideling hill and at least one child looked very pale. The fresh air and sunshine encouraged our appetites and we enjoyed a delicious pork roast with farm potatoes tonight.

15.01.2022 Stewed plums, plum jam, plums with ice cream, plum pudding.. I think the song Home amongst the gum trees..with lots of plum trees might have been written in Tassie.

13.01.2022 Well after the last few days...and kids AND HUBBY that had enough of driving, we have hot tailed it through to Melbourne! ..clearly Rosie is still well enough! Heres her video.

13.01.2022 This Fresh, frosty and frozen family and friends took a day trip to the East Coast for a Lobster Shack roll at Bicheno and a walk along the beautiful beach. Great company and healthy, clean air. It was good to be outdoors again despite the winter air. We all slept well last night.

12.01.2022 Well here we are at our new Tasmanian home. Finding our way and enjoying the fresh air and quieter life. Lots to be done. New beginnings, new friends and blessings all around. Life is good.

10.01.2022 Beautiful day. Walked a few kms with the girls through Cataract Gorge. A majestic eagle calling out to his mate, a wallaby and a few peacocks. Ended with a few hundred steep steps and a pounding heart.

08.01.2022 Childhood. Precious little moments all tied up together with string. Then suddenly, these moments are gone. Some more pleasant and some..well..not so.

08.01.2022 Busy times here. Its been very windy and on the cool side for weeks. Finally yesterday the weather reached 27C and the girls enjoyed a swim in the Rivulet last night. Wonderful to meet new people, make new friends and discover places we havent seen before. More photos to come..

08.01.2022 Big day in the city; we met Matilda at Queen Victoria Markets. Loved the providore there! Meats, antipasto, seafood, cheeses...a chefs delight! Chris and Rosie thought they were in food heaven. Rosie zoomed in on the churros and the older ones in company found much needed coffee. Goodbye to our niece, Trams and a wander around the CBD, an afternoon rest at the City Library, Mum found some warm clothes for Tasmania and up to see my brother at his hotel. Then out to Mexican with another brother. (3 family members all within 5 hours in Melbourne meeting us...) The girls loved seeing them all! Boat over to Tassie in the morning.

08.01.2022 Staying in Williamstown. Melbourne reached 41C today. Hottest Melbourne November day on record! Then dropped suddenly this afternoon..felt like 17C. Were on the mend! The girls and I enjoyed an icey swim this morning at Willi beach during the windstorms. A rest this afternoon and found a good little Italian place for dinner and a drive around Willi town. Great to catch up with my brother last night and hopefully my niece tomorrow.

07.01.2022 A glorious day away from the maddening crowd, or at least much of civilisation, at beautiful Cradle Mountain. Fresh air, pure water, echidnas, wombats, snow, waterfalls and plenty of diverse fauna. A 6-7 km walk with 2 young ones, hubby and friend George.

06.01.2022 Our accommodation tonight in a 200 year old house in Hamilton..

05.01.2022 The family (minus 1 son) enjoying a salubrious walk in our local park today. The variety of Autumn leaves were a visual delight.

05.01.2022 Festivale (should have been called Feastivale) was a new experience for these Sandgropers today. Sleepy after a big day of music, food and a wine or two.

05.01.2022 A forced holiday ...Im not complaining!

04.01.2022 Trowatta Arch and a cool, rainforest walk.

03.01.2022 We woke up (well I had to literally shake the 9 yo awake! And the 5yo wasnt going anywhere but staying in her dreams) to a beautiful winter wonderland at 1am. The girls were mesmerised with the white, fluffy stuff everywhere! A snowman, snowflakes in their hoodies and hair, snowball fights...covering the cars, trees and houses in our street! This is an unprecedented occurrence for Launceston. Its snowed here lightly maybe twice in 50 or more years but never this heavy.

03.01.2022 Enjoying family time in a beautiful place. Spent the morning learning about rare and unique hand fish, seahorses, cuttlefish and other creatures from our under water world around Australia.

02.01.2022 Early start to catch the boat. Its almost a ship with 10 levels, cafes and pizza bars, a gaming room and a cinema. The younger girls are playing in the kids gym. Im looking out to Sorrento and Portsea as we leave Port Phillip Bay. If only I had a better camera! The cliffs and coastline are magnificent.
