24.01.2022 CAUTION ADVISED Anyone planning on conducting burn offs either tomorrow or Tuesday, the 9th and 10th of November, should where possible, considering holding off, warm to hot conditions with gusty winds will elevate the fire danger, although conditions are not bad enough to trigger a fire ban for Monday, there is the potential for one to be issued on Tuesday. This is the first time this season we are seeing elevated danger and we ask everyone to take the utmost care, even though the grass still seems green, underneath it is dry and will burn, particularly with a strong wind behind it, if you are conducting a burn and it does get out of hand, please don't hesitate to call 000 so that we can attend as quickly as possible and limit the spread.

21.01.2022 A severe total fire ban has been issued for Sunday, 15th of November, in the Mount Lofty Ranges. We will see warm to hot conditions with strong and gusty northerly winds, with conditions not easing until the evening. We strongly advise if you have conducted any burn offs this week that you check them today and make sure they are fully extinguished.

21.01.2022 The fire danger season dates for the Mount Lofty Ranges and Adelaide Metropolitan area have been announced and will commence on the 1st of December 2020 and are currently set to finish on the 30th of April though the end date is still subject to change and may be extended if required. A reminder that although the fire danger season doesn't not commence until next month, total fire bans may be declared at any time and residents must still take care outside of these dates to ensure they are being safe when conducting burn offs, using equipment with the potential to start a fire, etc.

14.01.2022 Senior Firefighter Alex Eime and Firefighter Peter Nenke along with the Macclesfield 34 appliance spent today working on a fire in the Deepwater Conservation Park near Salt Creek in the Coorong. The fire started yesterday from lightning and with local crews exhausted after several fires starting from lightning yesterday, Adelaide Hills brigades were asked to head down for the day and relieve them. The fire was declared as contained this afternoon.

13.01.2022 With the brigade now finished on the fireground for the foreseeable future, we have a chance to rest and go through some of the photos taken by members, here are some from Firefighter Peter Nenke from mop up operations on Friday showing the sort of terrain crews have been working in since the fire started a week ago.

12.01.2022 This Sunday, 15th of November, is shaping up to be a severe fire danger day and a total fire ban is likely. In preparation for this, we strongly encourage land owners and residents to NOT conduct any burns on Saturday to limit the chances of an accidental fire starting. Also a reminder if you are unsure of what you can and can't do on total fire ban days, visit the CFS website or send us a message and we will happily answer any questions.

12.01.2022 Another total fire ban has been declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges for tomorrow 28th of November, while the rating is downgraded to severe, conditions will still be hazardous with gusty and regularly changing winds.

11.01.2022 This afternoon 2 firefighters deployed with the Macclesfield Bulk Water Carrier (BWC) to help the neighbouring Strathalbyn Group with a grass and hay fire near Milang. Quick work from the crews from Milang and Strathalbyn managed to stop the fire from destroying a mobile "Tiny Home" and surrounding sheds.

09.01.2022 CFS disappointed about unauthorised fireground drone use On Friday evening, crews attending the Templers fire were made aware of an unauthorised drone being fl...own in close proximity to the fireground. "Firegrounds are incredibly complex and the unauthorised use of drones is not acceptable" CFS Manager of State Air Operations, Nik Stanley explained, "During the Kangaroo Island fires earlier this year, we had to ground our firebombers and aerial support because members of the public were using drones. It was a massive waste of our time and resources. "While the operator complied with the CFS's request to cease using the drone on Friday, it was an added concern that crews shouldn't have to deal with, among all their other tasks and responsibilities while attending a fire." There is a strict 5nm (9.2 km) exclusion zone for all unauthorised aircraft around firegrounds. Breaching this exclusion zone, or interfering with aerial firefighting, is illegal, and can carry heavy fines if you are found guilty. Information on the rules around drone use can be found at www.casa.gov.au/drones/rules.

09.01.2022 Our friendly neighbours over at Meadows are hosting an information session tonight about Bushfire Survival Plans. This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have on how to prepare for a bushfire in our area. Please see details below.

09.01.2022 Earlier this afternoon, crews responded to a grass fire on Pound road, this was caused by a spark from a slasher, the landowners managed to limit the spread of the fire with knapsacks which allowed our crews to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. Today's fire serves a reminder that although grasses appear green, they are certainly ready to burn and with conditions deteriorating further tomorrow, there is a strong potential for any fires that do start to very quickly get out of control.

07.01.2022 A busy morning for crews from Macclesfield and Meadows Country Fire Service attending several trees that had come down in high winds including this one on Bugle Range Road just outside of Macclesfield which also brought down several hundred metres of power lines. This serves as a reminder if you come across fallen power lines please STAY BACK AT LEAST 8 METRES, while they may not seem live, there is no way to tell and they can arc long distances.

05.01.2022 Things have been busy at the Macclesfield CFS station with the completion of our new crew changing area, including a hand crafted bench made by life member Steve Gardner, and the installation of new LED lighting inside and outside the station which has made a huge difference and also lowers our energy usage. We would like to thank the community for your ongoing support and donations which make all of this possible.

04.01.2022 An EXTREME total fire ban has been declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges for tomorrow, Friday 27th of November, very hot temperatures and gusty north westerly winds will create very dangerous fire conditions. With the hot and relatively dry couple of weeks we've had, the vegetation is ready to burn and will burn quite intensely tomorrow.

03.01.2022 A severe total fire ban has been declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges tomorrow, 13th of April. Strong northerly winds will create hazardous conditions; despite recent cooler temperatures and higher humidity, tomorrow will be a dangerous day, particularly in grass lands where fires will be uncontrollable until winds ease. If you have had any fire on your property over the weekend or last week, please ensure it is completely out and cold prior to tomorrow.

03.01.2022 A reminder that the fire season for the Mount Lofty Ranges begins from midnight tonight. For information on what you can and can't do, visit: https://cfs.sa.gov.au/bans-an/what-can-i-do-what-cant-i-do/
