25.01.2022 Today we revisited a job we started last year . The first three photos are before we started raking and reducing fuel load with bobcat/rake, the last photos are... taken today. Removing the abundance of fuel and leaf litter promotes green grass and decrease's the chance of a canopy fire that is most detrimental to habitat. Eucalyptus rubida - (candle barks) are not so resilient to hot forest fires so decreasing fuel loads around these trees will provide less chance of canopy fire and a greater protection for the tree's and habitat that lives within them. The Eucalyptus rubida are the best habitat trees in the macedon ranges they do not resist decay well and are normally susceptible to termites and branch failure eventually creating hollows for ducks ,bee's ,cockatoos , possums and so on. Today was continuation of maintenance ,We last prunned this tree two years ago and installed two dynamic cables + removed all poor attachments and large dead wood + branch Stubbs.
